### 1/5 — Where are all the symbols?

*2026-08-18*

Where are all the symbols?

**Developer response:** Thanks for giving Infinity Sketch a try — sorry it wasn't what you expected.

There's no built-in symbol library, and that's on purpose. The app is built
around *your* hand-drawn symbols combined with straight, grid-snapped lines —
that mix is what gives the sketches a clean but human look, instead of the
stamped-clipart feel of a symbol palette. So the symbols are the ones you draw.

You don't have to redraw them every time, though:
• Draw a symbol once, then copy and duplicate it anywhere on the canvas.
• Paste images from the clipboard as symbols or backgrounds — a standard symbol
set from anywhere works fine as a source.
• New in 2.1: run the free server and an AI assistant can draw into your canvas
directly, including repeated symbols snapped to your document's grid.

If a built-in library is genuinely what would make this useful for you, tell me
which set — electrical, logic gates, plumbing, flowchart — and I'll take the
request seriously. Feedback like this is how the app gets its roadmap.

### 1/5 — Can't find basic set up such as Grid Size.

*2026-06-30*

The basic document settings that one would expect to set up are missing.

**Developer response:** Hi! Just tap the “Side Panel” icon — you’ll find fully configurable grid settings there ;)

### 1/5 — 'No copy & paste

*2026-05-22*

This is not useable

**Developer response:** Hi, copy and paste between documents via the system pasteboard is definitely possible! After selecting, tap "Copy selection to pasteboard" in the menu. In the destination document, tap the "Insert image" button to paste.

### 5/5 — It’s surprising

*2026-02-05*

You download it, it’s done In seconds and once you open it it’s not bad at all!! 👌

**Developer response:** Thank you very much 🙂

### 4/5 — pretty cool

*2026-02-02*

I like pretty much everything about this app except for the UX around pasting in images. You can only paste in an image if you first take a screenshot of it, which seems weird. why add extra unnecessary steps? Why not just allow people to paste things in?

**Developer response:** Hi, actually this should work.
For example: You can copy images from your Photos app to the system pasteboard and paste them into Infinity Sketch.
Please reach out to me on X if you need further help.

### 5/5 — An app for Marine Engineers

*2025-12-04*

This app is great for marine engineers when they are tracing systems. It’s like writing on engineering graph paper but your lines snap straight without needing a straight edge!

I do have a few feature requests.
- In-App-Tutorials: You should make a tutorials page with all of your X videos because I couldn’t figure out how to make perfect circles or rotate drawings till I looked at your X profile.
- Grid Presets: The ability to save presets and make one default so when the user creates a new drawing, the preset is automatically applied.
- Text annotations for labeling components.
- A Symbol Library: Save selected symbol drawings and access them in a collapsible side panel by dragging the symbol to the canvas. Allow the user to create multiple libraries to categorize components.

**Developer response:** These are valid points. I have them on my to-do list!
Thank you very much!

### 5/5 — Great for WhiteBoard in Dark Mode

*2025-10-14*

I use this for “White Board” Presentations, but in “Dark Mode”. It allows me to visually draw complex concepts in order to simplify them.

Many whiteboard apps do not support Dark Mode, so thank you for creating this!

**Developer response:** Thank you, Sir!

### 5/5 — Great app for drawing circuit schematics

*2025-08-27*

Great app. Helped me a lot!

**Developer response:** Thank you, Sir!

### 5/5 — Pretty good but…

*2025-08-23*

Could you include a way to do diagonal lines? Like 45° snap? I know the ruler will do it but it would be cool for like drawing a resistor in a schematic or I’m sure there’s other diagonal stuff people draw like monster teeth or whatever

**Developer response:** Hi! Thank you very much for your feedback :)
Drawing perfect 45° diagonal lines is definitely possible with the current grid system.
I posted a short video on my X profile, which shows how to draw American resistors ;)

### 5/5 — very nice

*2025-03-15*

just downloaded this just a lil step ahead of freeform. yeah

**Developer response:** Thank you, Sir!

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.1 — 2026-08-17

InfinitySketch has a server now — free, open source, and yours. Run it on a Mac, Linux or Windows machine, and your sketches gain three things:

DRAW WITH AN AI
The server speaks MCP, so an AI assistant on your computer can see your sketch and draw in it — strokes, fills, text, images, grids, even snapped to your document's own grid lines. Edits appear live on your canvas, use your current pen, and every one is a normal Undo step.

A LIVE WEB PAGE
Open the server in any browser and watch your sketches update as you draw.

YOUR DEVICES, ONE SKETCH
Documents sync live between your iPads and iPhones. It's local-first: every device keeps a full copy, so losing the server never loses a sketch. No account, no cloud — nothing leaves your network.

SCAN TO JOIN
The server prints a QR code when it starts. Scan it with your camera and InfinitySketch asks to join — no addresses to type.

Server documents appear beside your local files with previews, and any document can opt out of sync in Document Settings. Concurrent edits merge element by element; a genuine conflict is backed up rather than overwritten, and undo stays coherent across devices.

### 1.21 — 2026-07-26

Bugfix: Changing stroke widths now works correctly.

### 1.20 — 2026-07-19

Restore original stroke widths after scaling a selection — keep the scaled shape, bring pen thickness back to how it looked when you drew.

IMPROVEMENTS & FIXES
• Fixed: placed text with reduced opacity no longer exports or copies at full opacity (Export PNG, Copy as image, and transparent selection paste now match the canvas).

### 1.19 — 2026-06-28

Text comes to InfinitySketch — and a lot more.

ADD & EDIT TEXT
Tap the new Add/Edit Text tool, then tap anywhere to drop a text and start typing — tap any text to edit it in place. Text scales with zoom and shows up in PNG exports and thumbnails. Place precisely by dragging with Apple Pencil, and snap to the grid when Snap to Grid is on.

STYLE IT
A Word-style Text Format panel: font, size, bold/italic/underline/strikethrough, text and highlight colour, alignment, and line & letter spacing. Save your looks as reusable style presets, and use Copy & Paste Format to brush one text's style onto others. Turn on Word Wrap for fixed-width text boxes you can resize right on the canvas. Text adapts automatically to dark and light mode.

SELECT & TRANSFORM
Rectangle-select your texts to move, rotate, and scale them alongside strokes and images, restyle several at once, and reorder them in the new Texts panel.

SMART PASTE, COPY & DRAG-AND-DROP
Paste now figures out your clipboard — in-app content pastes richly, images drop in, and copied text becomes editable placed text. Copy a selection (or the whole sketch) as a transparent image to paste into Notes, Mail, or anywhere. On iPad, drag images from Photos, Files, or Safari straight onto the canvas.

MOUSE & TRACKPAD
On iPad, a connected pointer now drives every non-drawing gesture — selection, handles, picking a grid origin, and more.

OPEN FROM FILES
Tap an .infsketch file in the Files app to open it directly in the editor, with in-place editing for external documents and multi-device conflict safety for iCloud. Long-press in the browser to Open in New Window.

KEYBOARD
Full clipboard shortcuts (Cmd-C / Cmd-V / Cmd-X / Cmd-D / Cmd-A), three-finger copy/paste/select-all gestures, and Esc to back out of any mode.

IMPROVEMENTS & FIXES
• The keyboard stays put as you move between texts.
• Each text edit collapses into one clean undo step.
• Undo and redo now work inside rectangle-select.
• Side panels remember their scroll position, with icons on their names.
• Much faster, smoother rectangle-select on big sketches.
• Fixed: deleting or undoing a line no longer moves unrelated lines.
• Fixed: fast-drawn lines all snap, not just the last.
• Fixed: a rare undo/redo crash, and a hang when copying with nothing selected.
• Fixed: iPhone toolbar overlap, and the iPadOS window controls covering the back button.

### 1.18 — 2026-05-11

New tool: Bring to Front / Send to Back. A new pen sits in the PencilKit palette right after the Eraser. It doesn't draw — dragging across strokes pushes them to the top (Bring to Front) or bottom (Send to Back) of the z-order. Each stroke moves at most once per drag; the whole drag is one Undo entry. Tap the pen a second time to switch between the two modes; the badge on the pen swaps to match.

Side Panel — the toolbar's old Lines & Grids button is now a generic Side Panel button. Its icon mirrors which edge the panel docks to. The header has a menu that switches between Lines & Grids and the new Images subpanel; your last choice is remembered until you reopen the document.

New: Images panel. Lists the rect-selected placed images on the canvas. Each row has a thumbnail, a pin button, and an opacity slider with a percent field. Drag rows to reorder the front-to-back stack within their layer.

Pin to send an image to a separate background layer — pinned images always render behind any non-pinned image, regardless of list order, while z-order is preserved among pinned and among non-pinned independently. Pinned images can still be rect-selected, but they stay put when the rest of the selection is moved, transformed, or deleted — release them with "Unpin selected images" in the rect-select menu.
