## What is Ink?

Ink is a local-first writing workspace for iPhone and iPad. Keep drafts, notes, sources, and their connections together without an Ink account.

WRITE YOUR WAY
• Work in rich text or Markdown, then preview a clean reading version.
• Set a daily word goal and adjust the editor font, size, and line height.

FIND THE CONNECTION
• Search titles and note text, browse recent notes, and organize work with projects, favorites, bookmarks, and templates.
• Link notes with wiki links, follow backlinks, use tags, and explore local graph and discovery views.
• Keep related drafts on simple Kanban boards or a visual canvas.

BRING IN SOURCES. TAKE WORK OUT.
• Import documents, PDFs, images, audio, and video. Ink can recover searchable text from supported PDFs.
• Keep revision history, move notes to Trash and restore them when needed.
• Share or export individual work as Markdown, plain text, HTML, PDF, DOCX, or EPUB; export a Markdown vault or static site when you need a wider backup.

AI ON YOUR TERMS
AI is off by default. Connect a provider you choose—including local Ollama or a supported cloud provider—to summarize, rewrite, outline, ask questions, and create study materials. Ink shows the selected context scope, cites matched workspace sources when available, and lets you insert generated text instead of silently replacing your work.

YOUR WORK, YOUR DEVICES
Your workspace lives locally on your device. When iCloud Drive is available, Ink keeps readable Markdown copies of active notes in your Ink folder. Optional CloudKit sync can keep workspace changes available across your Apple devices. If you use AI, Ink sends the material needed for your requested action directly to the provider you choose.

Ink is built for writers, students, researchers, and anyone who wants a calmer place to think.
