Homework, practice, reading, exam prep — the session ends, the notes stay in the notebook, and what you still remember is hard to say. InkBrook does one thing: it turns the takeaways and questions you write down while studying into cards, then uses spaced repetition to schedule their return. THE METHODS BEHIND IT • A goal first (goal setting): one sentence on what you want to work out, so the session has a purpose. • Takeaways and questions after: saying what you learned in your own words is the generation effect; writing down what is still unclear is metacognitive monitoring — how far your understanding goes. • Reviews spaced out (spaced repetition): the FSRS algorithm sets when each card comes back, from your own ratings. ONE SESSION, FOUR STEPS • Before — write a goal: one sentence, or leave it blank. • During — Pomodoro focus: 15 / 20 / 25 / 30 minutes, with an eye-rest reminder at the end; ideas and questions go down on the spot. • After — note takeaways and questions: dictate them, or attach a photo of the problem. • Later — review as scheduled: answer a question and you can add it to your review plan; when it comes back is left to the app. HOW REVIEW TIMING IS SET Each card has its own memory state. You flip it over and rate yourself "remembered" or "forgot", and FSRS sets the next review from that: "remembered" stretches the interval, "forgot" brings the card back before long. Cards you keep forgetting are singled out, so you can go at them a different way. Attach an exam and its date to a subject — school entrance exams, IGCSE, IELTS. As the date nears, review of those subjects tightens, and intervals do not run past the exam day. ALSO INSIDE • Voice to text: say it and it's written down. • Photograph problems: snap one and quiz yourself on the original. • Knowledge wall: look back day by day through the takeaways you wrote. • Growth record: streaks, levels and badges come from real study actions; no leaderboards, only your past self. • Widgets: your streak and library card count on the Home and Lock Screen. • Data export and import: the whole database as a zip backup, and back. • Where your data goes: study content stays on your device; turn on iCloud sync and it goes to your own iCloud. Crash diagnostics are off by default — a separate checkbox on the first-launch consent page turns them on, changeable any time. Attach an exam to a subject and you also get a reference line — a simple extrapolation from the cards that reached the stability threshold in the last 28 days, estimating roughly how many will be stabilized by exam day. This screen is a subscription feature. Import groups you can tidy up Batch import now offers "Add to existing", so new cards go straight into a group you already have instead of starting yet another one. Existing groups can be selected and merged into one, with every card carried over, and the group list is now split into sections by subject. Merging and sectioning are free; batch import itself is a subscription feature. The consent screen at first launch Crash diagnostics is now a checkbox of its own, unticked by default. Leave it off and everything still works — and you can change it in Settings whenever you like. Privacy Policy and Terms rewritten Both were rewritten against what the app actually does: which data stays on your device, where things go once iCloud sync is on, and exactly what crash diagnostics sends when you turn it on. All four languages have been updated, so you'll be asked to confirm once after updating. Consistent wording Cards that used to read "Mastered" now read "Stabilized", and what was sometimes called a "knowledge point" is simply a card throughout. A batch of interface messages has been rewritten to match. Fixes Typing lag on the goal screen; word order, wording and plurals across the English and Japanese interface. ### 1.1 — 2026-07-31 What's new in this update: Geometry cards Imported cards can now carry plane-geometry figures. Lines given in the problem are drawn in ink; the ones you're meant to work out yourself appear as coral dashes. The front shows the problem, the back reveals the construction — training you to recognise the shape at a glance. One card, both directions Double-sided cards from batch import can be marked "test both ways", so review asks you from the front or the back at random. Ideal for vocabulary, element tables, and anything symmetrical. Flip-card practice Pick any set of cards and quiz yourself whenever you like, without waiting for them to fall due. Practice is never written into your review plan — your existing rhythm stays exactly as it was. Practise what didn't stick The review summary now offers "Practise the N you missed" — flip straight back through the cards you just marked "forgot". Free to use, and it leaves your schedule untouched. Now in four languages English, Japanese and Traditional Chinese have been added, following your system language automatically. Feel and fixes Motion and haptics have been reworked throughout the app — flipping, navigating and tapping all respond more closely to your touch.
