## What is Inkpad?

Create beautiful vector artwork on your iPad with Inkpad.

Draw with accuracy and speed.

Quickly align new or existing objects either to a grid, points, or path edges. Alternatively draw freehand bezier paths using the brush tool. Select, scale and rotate hundreds of objects with high performance in real time. Cutout elements of artwork, photographs or patterns with masks.

Flexible typography effects.

Position text at any angle or to follow along paths. Apply multiple effects to text, with stroke, fill, shadow and opacity all dynamically adjustable. If the over seventy built in fonts don’t quite fit your design, you can import any of the millions of OpenType and TrueType fonts available.

Take control with unlimited layers.

Feel free to add as many or as few elements in each layer to organise your drawings. Rename, rearrange, delete, hide and lock layers as you draw. Isolate the active layer for easy editing. Adjust each layers transparency independently to get your ideal composition.

Powerful editing at your fingertips.

Easily manipulate single or multiple elements with powerful scale and rotate tools. Associate individual elements into groups. Interactively edit gradient fills on the canvas. Perform a range of Boolean operations on paths, including Unite, Intersect, Exclude and Subtract Front.

Colors to match your imagination.

Picking the perfect color is easy with the freedom of the expressive color wheel. Or modify colors using RGB and HSB sliders. Enter the hexadecimal value to precisely match existing artwork colors. Sample colors using the dropper. Store and recall colors from the swatch library.

Import, export and sharing.

Import drawings from desktop vector applications as SVG and include photos directly from your camera roll, or import PNG and JPEG images from cloud services. Export your drawings for sharing or importing into other apps as SVG, PDF, PNG and JPEG to all cloud storage services. Send drawings as photos directly to your camera roll.

Light & dark modes.

Light and dark mode system appearances with the option to override the system setting to light or dark mode for Inkpad.

Apple Pencil.

If you’ve got an iPad Pro or the 2018 iPad, Inkpad works great with the Apple Pencil.

History.

Inkpad was originally created by Steve Sprang in 2011, but it disappeared from the App Store in 2015. I took over development because my wife Lindsay uses Inkpad and I wanted to ensure the continued development and support of a product we and others enjoy so much.

### 5/5 — Inexpensive yet Great Tool to create SVG files

*2026-07-21, version 3.5.2*

Being an OLD OLD school computer guy without graphics knowledge, not wanting to “rent” high priced graphics software, Inkpad was an easy choice at very little cost to accomplish my need to produce exact drawings and export them as SVG files.

### 3/5 — The app is quite good but with poor interoperability

*2026-01-28*

I really wanted to like this app. It's an affordable vector illustrator with a very efficient and intuitive interface. It even has a lineage going back to a nice open source offering. The only thing that is preventing me from liking and using this app is that it cannot really import SVG files. Every SVG file I tried, including ones generated by Inkpad itself, come through horribly distorted. Borders are all wrong, text sizes are out of control, and generally it would take hours to correct the mistakes in the imported image. That coupled with the fact that inkpad has its own format and stores its files in a hidden location means that you have no chance at meaningful interoperability with other editors. If you can commit to using Inkpad exclusively, this editor would be quite nice. However, I need to be able to import assets and edit files on my Mac as well. I simply cannot do that with Inkpad.

**Developer response:** I’m sorry to hear you are having trouble with SVG import and export. Inkpad has been tested with many example files and graphic design apps. Please get in touch so that we can figure out what is the cause of the issue.

### 1/5 — Not free

*2026-01-20, version 3.3.18*

Not free

### 3/5 — Inkpad vector, focused, 3.3.16 works on OS26

*2025-10-23, version 3.3.16*

Inkpad by Envoza v3.3.16 said to work on OS26. I haven’t tried as I’m still on 18.7. It’s a great vector illustration tool. Exports out to png, svg, svgz, pdf, and more. Handy imports png and pdf into Procreate app etc. Some keyboard shortcuts. Works offline. Unique menu but fun to use. The YouTube (4yrs ago) tutorials help. Best instruction are on its website. I chose the yearly subscription, because I enjoy using it, and I want them to continue.

### 5/5 — A good balance

*2025-05-02*

I’ve used it for many years. It’s easy to use with a clean interface. It doesn’t have as many features as illustrator and I don’t really miss those ones anyway. Perfect app for personal projects. WELL worth the money.

### 2/5 — Fichiers SVG non compatibles

*2025-04-26, version 3.3.15*

Le programme est un petit peu plus intéressant que les versions gratuites, mais les fichiers ne sont pas du tout compatibles avec les découpeuses laser ou mécanique …

### 3/5 — Не понятно приложение пока не купишь подписку

*2025-01-14, version 3.3.14*

### 5/5 — Mark

*2024-12-28, version 3.3.14*

One of the easiest and least complicated app for graphic design.

### 2/5 — No possibility to look in the app before subscribing

*2024-12-16, version 3.3.14*

Dear developers, I was thinking about purchasing, but obviously I won't, because you just don't give me a chance to look at your app without immediate subscription. I see that you're offering free month, but I even haven't taken a look into this app! Thanks for nothing...

### 4/5 — A Solid Vector Art Application

*2024-12-13*

I’m new to vector art (who’s mostly used Procreate) and I’ve been pretty pleased with this app (enough to become a paid subscriber). There’s a bit of a learning curve, and the interface can be a bit confusing (mostly when it comes to things like copying & pasting), but the tutorials have been adequate.

One major thing that I wish this app had was a comprehensive mirroring feature.
Currently, to accomplish a perfectly symmetrical object, you must create half of it, copy the half, flip the half, and align it with the original. Then there are issues resolving a gap that appears down the middle. This necessitates combining paths, and that creates overlapping issues, and so on. Also, you better be finished with the design before you manually mirror, because any changes will require a repetition of the process.
Another feature that I’d appreciate (if possible with vector art) would be the ability to enable/disable the outline on a per-section basis along with the ability to fade it at the ends.

Good app, though!
