### 3/5 — Too hard to figure out

*2024-12-06, version 2.1*

When scissors don’t cut and an eraser adds lines, it’s too confusing for me. I appreciate that it’s free, so 3 stars instead of one.

### 4/5 — “Fixing” the menu bug.

*2024-12-02, version 2.1*

To have the menus consistently show all options, one must enable “Reduce Motion” as a Per-App Accessibility option for Inkpad.

I believe there is broken menu code when they play their intro/outro animation.
While the menu isn’t as flashy, it’s at least functional now.

Hopefully the dev will return to fix this bug and maybe add a dark mode theme?

Anyway, thanks for reviving this app!

### 4/5 — one issue

*2024-07-01, version 2.1*

when I select something the copy/paste/duplicate options disappear how do I fix this?

### 3/5 — Not compatible with iOS 17

*2024-06-10*

Menu items work once then most of the menu disappears. To copy and paste you have to copy then close the picture down open it up again then paste. Laborious. Please fix this bug.

### 3/5 — Import SVG?

*2022-03-09, version 2.1*

The app works nice, good drawing tools. But I can't find a way to open or import an SVG file. That makes it more or less useless for real work.

### 4/5 — Great app!

*2020-11-27, version 2.1*

A great tool for simple and stylish illustrations - exactly what I need for semipro graphics

I’m a university scientist and know the value of quality illustrations in communicating complex concepts and ideas. This app is perfect for making simple and stylish graphics and is easy to learn and use (with an Apple Pencil).

Inkpad Libre is a great addition to the open-source graphics toolbox. It is a basic but sufficient app. SVG export allows export to other open-source software like Inkscape and (presumably) GIMP for more advanced work.

Some suggestions:

Objects tend to move when selected using the pick tool, presumably because pick-and-drag feature is too sensitive. Please add a short delay before between picking and dragging.

It would be helpful to have a transformation pop-up where object dimensions and rotations can be specified numerically.

### 1/5 — Menus stop working right after first click

*2024-06-08, version 2.1*

As many have mentioned already, but I was hoping had been fixed by now, when I click on any of the menus (like "path) the first times, lots of options come up. But if I try to access them again, most of the options are missing (not greyed out, just completely gone.) Definitely an app breaking bug for me. Guess I’ll have to keep searching for a vector app to use in my classroom (I teach kids camps at a non-profit).

### 1/5 — Don’t update to iPadOS 17, Abandoned

*2024-03-06, version 2.1*

Great app, broken since iPadOS update 17 and abandoned. Don’t update to 17 if u still use this. The menus for edit, arrange and path no longer function. No updates forthcoming as there is no response on GitHub either. Very sad day…

### 1/5 — Sadly I can’t use this anymore and I really want too!

*2024-02-23, version 2.1*

The menu bug issue as mentioned by two other users…PLEASE FIX IT! Please respond….I used this everyday before but it is just not useable anymore…has not been for months now….after making one change to the art the menu items all disappear (but for two) until you close the art down and then re-open it again….all menu items are back….until you make one change again and they all go missing again! HELP!

### 1/5 — Currently Broken

*2024-02-14, version 2.1*

Unfortunately, menus seem bugged to only work once. I’d hapilly give a positive score if this ever gets fixed, but as of right now, it seems abandoned with a bug this serious existing for months. Such is the fate of libre software. :/

### 1/5 — Free garbage app

*2020-12-05, version 2.1*

Just another among a pile of free vector app garbage. Just remember you get what u pay for, and this is free!

### 2/5 — Requires fixes with current OS

*2024-08-13, version 2.1*

This app has great potential, but the menus don’t function properly, meaning you can’t actually use most of the functions required to complete a design

### 2/5 — Exporting

*2024-07-10, version 2.1*

I thought i found the best app for vectors and a lot of options to edit text. There are some really great exporting options. When you edit anything your exporting options goes to two options. Save photo and print. If that isn't fixed, the app will be useless.

### 2/5 — Menus don’t work right

*2024-07-06, version 2.1*

After drawing for a few minutes the edit, arrange, and path menus stop working. I can click on them but it only shows the top two menu options not the full list.

### 2/5 — Good, but broken

*2023-11-20, version 2.1*

This is the standard traditional Inkpad - type drawing apps, and mostly it works just fine for that. Unlike the other Inkpad, it works properly with the local Files .

Sadly, it has acquired a troublesome bug: menus work one time and then they lose all but two non-useful menu items. If you do any, say, repetitive duplication or align objects more than one time, well, you are out of luck.

I will up my rating if the developer notices and can fix the problem.

### 3/5 — Edit menu does not show copy etc

*2026-03-12, version 2.1*

When I first go into a drawing and select a shape the edit menu displays correctly, but only once. Second time I select something and click Edit I no longer get cut /copy/duplicate etc. My iPad is in French, if that matters.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Has everything you need

*2025-03-18, version 2.1*

Open source projects such as this are indispensable. Thank you for continuing to maintain this app. The app is very clean and works flawlessly on the iPad Pro M4, and full files integration is great. Does everything I need for vector artwork on the go.

### 5/5 — Works great on iOS 17.4

*2024-04-30, version 2.1*

Whatever menu bug reviewers were complaining about in iOS 17.0 seems to be fixed in iOS 17.4, as the app works flawlessly.

And it collects no user data!

Thank you—awesome app!!

### 5/5 — Thanks for bringing it back!!

*2023-07-15, version 2.1*

This was my first vector app when it launched years ago. It’s a blessing to have it back. Is light and fast!!

### 5/5 — Thank you

*2023-02-20, version 2.1*

Classy of you to provide this open source software when others have the cheek to charge subscriptions on top of buying the app (Inkpad - yellow icon)

Sincerely appreciate this, many thanks 🫡

### 5/5 — The best vision of Inkpad I have ever used!

*2023-02-13, version 2.1*

This is hands down the best vision of Inkpad I have ever used.
It’s free, it’s open source, and that absolutely doesn’t mean that it is at any sort of disadvantage over its for profit competitors.
I found it after the offshoot I was using (and had paid for) decided to implement a subscription model. So I decided to scan the App Store fore a more budget friendly option, and low and behold here was this addition! And to make the discovery even sweeter, it has ALL the features I valued from the other one PLUS the search gallery function that I had been longing for as well as the file browser integration I didn’t know I wanted (but I did).

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2021-12-09, version 2.1*

I really like the spiral tool. That tool gets me started with scroll and acanthus work.

Thanks a bunch.

### 5/5 — WONDERFUL! 🥳✨

*2021-10-18, version 2.1*

It’s back! This is the original Inkpad. Somebody else took the code that’s been open source for years and made a thing that works like the original Inkpad! I am so relieved, because the profiteering ones, built on the same code, always have something wrong with them. Or it’s a massive subscription. Thank you thank you for re-creating this! It’s totally free no upfront cost no subscription. Tutorial inside it that will teach you how to do vector drawing. I learned it from scratch on the original Inkpad. This one stores the pictures you make in your file app. That’s the only difference. You can send them from there to the photo app. It opens in the files app, just hit the + in the upper right corner to make a new drawing and that takes you into the apps UI. Thank you!

### 5/5 — Great app

*2021-06-19, version 2.1*

Thank you for maintaining the app, keeping it free and maintaining the original open source spirit. Works great and is very feature rich.

### 5/5 — Woooow ❤️❤️❤️

*2021-05-19, version 2.1*

Amazing! I cannot believe that this is free and no ads.

### 5/5 — Classy Development!!!

*2020-09-22, version 2.1*

I love what you’ve done with the code and honestly, I’m absolutely stunned by the update to iOS14. Current compatibility is phenomenal!!!

I’m sure cleaning up the old 32bit and Dropbox stuff wasn’t easy.

THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!!!
