## What is InkStencil?

Describe your tattoo, or photograph a reference, and get an artist-grade, print-ready tattoo stencil.

InkStencil is the tattoo generator and stencil maker in one. Type an idea and get clean tattoo linework in seconds, or convert a photo into a stencil entirely on your phone. Then print it at true real-world size, ready for your artist.

DESCRIBE IT, GET A STENCIL
• Type your idea — a snake wrapped around a dagger, a moth with skull wings, anything
• Seven styles: Bold Classic, Dark & Detailed, Clean & Simple, Precise Geometry, Japanese Art, Stipple & Dot, Hand Sketched
• The style is picked automatically from your words, or choose it yourself
• Start from a reference photo, pick your favourite of three options, refine with "More like this" variations, and compare before you keep

TURN PHOTOS INTO STENCILS
• Convert any reference photo to clean stencil linework
• Crop, rotate, clean up the background, erase what you don't want
• 100% on-device — your photos never leave your phone
• Live detail and line-thickness controls
• Always free, no limits

PRINT IT TRUE TO SIZE
• Export PNG or PDF at exact real-world sizes (300 DPI), including custom sizes in mm, cm or inches
• Mirrored output for thermal transfer paper
• 1-inch calibration square so you can verify sizing on paper
• Multi-size sheets: one design at 2–3 sizes on a single A4 or US Letter page
• SVG vector export with real paths for Procreate and Illustrator
• Lettering in real tattoo faces, and flash sheets with several designs on one page

BUILT FOR TRUST
• Try Pro weekly with a 3-day free trial, or pay once for a single tattoo, no subscription
• Photo conversion is free and unlimited, forever
• Every price, trial and renewal is shown before you pay. Cancel anytime in Settings

INKSTENCIL PRO
• 15 AI designs a week on weekly, 50 a month on yearly
• Watermark-free exports
• PDF, SVG and the full artist toolkit
• Variations, flash sheets and lettering export

Whether you're planning your first tattoo or you're a working artist converting references between clients, InkStencil gets you from idea to transfer-ready stencil faster than anything else.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.5.1 — 2026-10-23

NEW — Try Pro weekly free for 3 days, or choose yearly. Each plan shows exactly how many AI designs it includes.
Converting your own photos stays free and unlimited.
Fixes and improvements, including the paywall opening only once on iPad.

### 2.5.0 — 2026-10-22

NEW — Choose weekly or yearly Pro, or pay once for a single tattoo. Every price and renewal is on screen before you pay, and you can cancel anytime in Settings.
FIXED — A brand-new install's first design no longer fails with "Something went wrong". Dropped connections and slow networks now retry on their own.
The app now asks for a rating only after a few designs you liked, never in the middle of something.
Many smaller fixes.

### 2.4.0 — 2026-09-29

NEW — Your first idea now gets three AI design options to choose from, from words or a reference photo.
NEW — Love one design? Unlock just that design with a one-time clean export, no subscription needed.
NEW — Rate any result with a thumbs up or down, and tell us what went wrong in a couple of taps. You can also send feedback from Settings.
NEW — A quick "What brings you here?" question when you start, so we can build what you actually need.
FIXED — Reference photos from your camera now work first time, and come back as clean black linework on white.
Better layouts at large text sizes, clearer design balances, and many smaller fixes.

### 2.3.0 — 2026-09-16

NEW — Lettering: set a word or name in script, blackletter or fine-line faces, sized in real units, straight or on a curve.
NEW — Photo editing: crop, rotate and straighten, clean up busy backgrounds, and erase or restore any area before you convert.
NEW — Reference photo + prompt: use a photo as the starting point for an AI design.
NEW — Compare: put a variation or a retry next to the design it replaced and keep the one you prefer.
NEW styles — Stipple & Dot and Hand Sketched.
NEW — Custom print sizes in mm, cm or inches, a clear summary of what you'll get, and remembered printer settings.
NEW — Flash sheets: several designs on one A4 or Letter page (Pro).
Gallery: search, favourites, collections, private notes, and Recently Deleted with 30-day restore. Unsaved designs now come back after a relaunch.
Ran out of free designs? One free retry of the same prompt. Now in Spanish, German and Portuguese too.

### 2.2.0 — 2026-09-01

NEW — Finish This Design: get 5 extra AI designs with a single one-time purchase. No subscription needed.
NEW — See It Print-Ready: preview any design at real tattoo sizes straight from the result screen, watermark shown up front.
Pro is now one simple monthly plan, with an introductory price for your first month.
Plus smoother generation, richer haptics, and small fixes throughout.
