## What is InnerPulse?

Do you understand why you feel the way you feel?
InnerPulse is a mood tracker with built-in clinical questionnaires (PHQ-9, GAD-7). Track your mood daily, discover which factors lift or lower it, and monitor your mental health over time. All data stays on your device.

---

YOUR DATA BELONGS TO YOU

InnerPulse is 100% local. Everything stays on your iPhone. No account, no cloud, no tracking, no ads. Protected with Face ID. You pay once and keep the app. No subscription, no hidden costs, shareable with your family via Family Sharing.

---

HOW YOU USE INNERPULSE

1. Capture your mood. In the journal, you log your mood on a scale from 1 to 10, optionally write a few words, and get context-aware writing prompts when you need them.

2. Connect factors. For each entry, you choose from over 110 factors across 11 areas of life: sleep, nutrition, work, exercise, social life, digital consumption, self-care, health, entertainment, environment, and finances. Custom factors and your own categories can be added in seconds.

3. Connect Apple Health (optional). If you grant access, InnerPulse suggests factors based on your health data or activates them automatically: workouts, sleep, cycle, hydration. When the data is clear, the app handles it; when it's ambiguous, it asks. The weather is also no longer something you need to enter manually. Once you enable it in settings, sunny and rainy days are automatically suggested as a factor.

4. Complete clinical questionnaires. In the check-in tab, you answer recognized screening tests: PHQ-9, PHQ-4, GAD-7, and K10. You receive objective evaluations that you can take with you to your next appointment if needed. (Not a diagnosis, that comes from a professional.)

5. Understand your insights. The analysis tab goes deep. You see:

- which factors really influence your mood, and in which direction,
- on which weekdays you typically feel better or worse,
- how your questionnaire results have changed over weeks and months,
- how your mood unfolded across the entire year, a single pixel per day in the "Year in Pixels" view,
- trends, patterns, and correlations you wouldn't spot in everyday life.

6. Make it yours. Choose between four design themes with smooth transitions. InnerPulse adapts to your taste, not the other way around.

---

YOUR DATA, ON THE MOVE

You can export your data as CSV or share it as a PDF report any time, suitable for therapy conversations or your own archive. Data from earlier exports or from another device can be brought back in via CSV import.

---

InnerPulse does not replace professional advice or therapy.

### 4/5 — Welcher Fragebogen?

*2026-06-29*

Nicht jeder weiß auswendig, was GAD-7 bedeutet.

**Developer response:** Vielen Dank, bk-ww.

Keine seltsame Verschachtelung, keine kaputten Sonderzeichen.

### 5/5 — Intuitive App, TOP

*2026-04-30*

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 5.2 — 2026-08-27

We're continuously working to improve InnerPulse for you. This update includes minor optimizations and bug fixes for an even better experience.

### 5.1 — 2026-08-09

Version 5.1 delivers on your feedback for version 5: sortable entries, less friction while logging, and a time filter that remembers your choice. Everything stays 100% local on your device.

SORT YOUR ENTRIES
- New sort menu above the journal list: newest or oldest first, highest or lowest mood first.
- Find your best and hardest days at a glance.

LESS FRICTION WHILE LOGGING
- An accidentally selected suggestion stays in the suggestion row; tap again to deselect it.
- New factors can now be created even when similarly named ones already exist.
- The intensity slider can be enabled right when creating a factor.

ANALYSIS
- The time filter (7/30/90 days/All) remembers your choice across app restarts and applies to all analysis pages.

BUG FIXES & POLISH
- Several messages, including the alert after a failed unlock, now appear in your language.
- With a fixed app language, the time display follows your device's 12/24-hour setting again.
- Unlogged days follow the list's title personalization, including weekday and date format.
- The dot separator in entry rows now only appears before the note.
- The info badge while scrubbing the trend charts sits back at the top left, below the title.

### 5 — 2026-08-01

Version 5.0 brings a dedicated page for every factor, interactions as real comparisons instead of percentages, a search that explains its results, and entry lists you can customize. Everything stays 100% local on your device.

NEW FACTOR PAGES
- Tap a factor in Analysis and you get its own page: balance with a trend chart, range, confidence, and the number of entries.
- The "Trends" tab shows what often goes along with the factor, including the day before (-1) or the day after (+1). Every row leads to the connected factor.
- The "Entries" tab collects all journal entries with this factor.
- Each of the 111 default factors now has its own image.

CLEARER INTERACTIONS
- Instead of "300% more often", each card compares two groups directly, e.g. "With Low energy: on 12 of 14 days. Without: on 3 of 20 days."
- A badge rates every connection as "Moderate" or "Strong"; weak connections are no longer shown.
- As always: everything is an observation, never a diagnosis.

SMARTER SEARCH
- Every result shows why it was found: text snippet, factor, or date.
- Factors match in every language and via synonyms; "workout" also finds "Exercised".
- The chart collapses while you search, so more results stay visible.

CUSTOMIZABLE ENTRY ROWS
- Choose what the title and subtitle line of journal and questionnaire entries show: weekday, date, time, note, or questionnaire code, name and due date.
- Reorder by dragging the handle, three date formats. Find it under Settings > General.

CLEARER QUESTIONNAIRES
- Every test states its topic in plain language, e.g. PHQ-9 = depression.
- The reminder tells you which questionnaire is due and opens it directly.
- Every questionnaire type shows when it is next due, or how long it has been overdue.
- Reminders work per questionnaire type: if your GAD-7 is further back than your PHQ-9, InnerPulse reminds you about the GAD-7.
- In the line chart, you now hit exactly the point you mean when a day has several entries; while dragging, the selection stays on one line.

BUG FIXES & POLISH
- Intensity and factor selection stay in sync: deselecting removes the value, selecting starts at "Medium".
- The questionnaire reminder can be turned off completely.
- "View insights" takes you directly to the factor page.
- If saving fails, the app tells you honestly instead of signaling success.
- Search, lists, and chart gestures respond noticeably faster, plus many small corrections.

MIGRATION & PRIVACY
All your data is preserved and migrated locally. No server, no account. InnerPulse stays private.

### 4.1 — 2026-06-22

Version 4.1 refines 4.0: factor search now works in any language, the journal and analysis feel noticeably smoother, reminders are more reliable, and under the hood we made the app more stable and your data safer. Everything stays 100% local on your device.

FACTOR SEARCH IN ANY LANGUAGE
- You now find a factor regardless of the app language. Search in English for "Productive" and the German "Produktiv" shows up, and the other way around.
- This works both when picking factors in an entry and in the journal search. A factor created in one language stays findable by its term in any language (and by synonyms).

RELIABLE REMINDERS
- Fixed: the journal reminder sometimes appeared even though you had already tracked the day. As soon as an entry exists, today's reminder is now removed immediately and reliably, even if you logged via widget, Lock Screen, Siri or Apple Watch.

BACKFILLED ENTRIES WITH THE RIGHT TIME
- When you add an entry for today after the fact, InnerPulse now uses the current time instead of 0:00. Backfilled entries for past days stay unchanged.

NOTICEABLY SMOOTHER
- The journal and analysis no longer recompute lists, search and charts on every keystroke or animation frame. Typing, scrolling and charts feel calmer, even with many entries.
- Factor search responds without hitches. There is no more database access on every keystroke.

FASTER APPLE WATCH SYNC
- Incoming Watch entries are batched and processed more efficiently, and the expensive weekly and pixel aggregation no longer runs for every single entry. Rapid successive inputs are coalesced instead of slowing down the sync.

STABILITY & DATA SAFETY
- Save hardening: a failed save is no longer silently ignored but logged, so your entry is not lost unnoticed.
- Extra crash protection in the most used display path and when reconciling background entries.

IMPORT & EXPORT IN EVERY LANGUAGE
- Fixed: data export and import now work regardless of the selected language. Previously the process failed in non-German languages or opened the wrong screen.

MIGRATION & PRIVACY
All data from version 4.0 is preserved and migrated locally. No server, no account. Optional Apple services exchange data only with Apple. InnerPulse stays private.

### 4.0 — 2026-06-18

Version 4.0 is the biggest update to InnerPulse yet: the app leaves the iPhone. New are an Apple Watch app, Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets, plus Siri and Spotlight shortcuts that let you log your mood in seconds without opening the app. On top of that come a new analysis engine that detects interactions between factors, an intensity slider per factor, journal search, a way to fill in missed days, fully editable factors, CSV import, and a new PDF report. Everything stays 100% local on your device.

APPLE WATCH
- Quick entry with the Digital Crown: turn the crown, set a value (1 to 10), tap, done.
- Weekly stats on your wrist: average of the last 7 days, trend, and bars.
- Confirm factors at a glance: matching factors (weekday, Apple Health) are preselected.
- Reliable two-way sync, even offline. The iPhone stays the source of truth.
- Watch face complications showing today's value.

WIDGETS & LOCK SCREEN
- Quick-log widget: capture your mood with one tap from the Home Screen.
- Weekly pulse widget: average of the last 7 days plus trend.
- "Mood in Pixels": the last 12 weeks as a colored grid.
- Lock Screen widget: one tap opens a new entry directly. Optionally "hide mood score".
- All widgets redesigned and always automatically up to date.

INTERACTIONS AS CLEAR SENTENCES
In the detail view of each factor, InnerPulse describes relationships in natural language:
- Same day: "On days with exercise, you ate healthy 40% more often."
- Next day: "After days with little sleep, your mood the next day is lower on average."
Everything is an observation, not a diagnosis.

INTENSITY
For each factor you can enable an intensity slider from low to high. The analysis compares high-intensity and low-intensity days and shows the effect on your mood.

FULLY EDITABLE FACTORS
Every factor can be edited, including default factors: title, icon, category, and tendency. Behind the scenes, each factor keeps its stable identity, so entries and analyses stay correct. Large, searchable icon picker.

JOURNAL SEARCH
A search icon filters your entries live by note text, factors, and date.

FILL IN MISSED DAYS
Optionally, each unlogged day appears as a subtle tile with a plus. One tap creates an entry for exactly that day. No streaks, no nagging.

STABILITY & POLISH
Faster image rendering, a fixed crash with duplicate factor names, and consistent updates across widgets, Lock Screen, and Watch after every change.

MIGRATION & PRIVACY
All data from version 3.4 is preserved and migrated locally. No server, no account. Optional Apple services share data only with Apple. InnerPulse stays private.
