I can’t make contact, get an answer when I call the company about how to move and properly set the app up on new phone. I’m on hold forever waiting for a representative to answer my call! I need help to do this. Where is customer service technical support? Help me! ### 4/5 — You broke it! *2025-08-13, version 8.0.0* The app isn’t perfect but the most recent update is terrible. I constantly get a pop up asking me to turn on e - which I already have on. The app gets stuck constantly!!! Also why can’t you make a complication for Apple Watch? ### 2/5 — Update is horrible *2025-08-04, version 8.0.0* The recent app update causes a notification to pop up every time you open the app and asks you to turn on notifications in the background. When you got to settings, that option is greyed out and doesn't work. What is worse is you get that pop up every time you open the app. Notifications were not broken so you mucked it up, s/w developers!! Update: contacted support and they stated they are aware of this glitch. They are supposedly going to issue another update but the phone rep did not know when. In the meanwhile, you have to keep ignoring the pop up and manually entering your long acting insulin. ### 3/5 — iOS 18 broke Widgets *2025-07-20, version 8.0.0* Widget for active insulin and access to calculator was was extremely valuable. Please update with new widget option for iOS 18. ### 2/5 — Not as great as it should be *2025-01-22, version 5.7.1* Had app for VERY LONG TIME. Never deleted it. Started using islet insulin pump but needed break from it due to many bruises (anemic) & scars from islet pump PAINFUL. Wanted to get break for a week! Tried to log into Islet app & it won’t allow me to due to old email acct no longer accessible! I’ve to start new acct & it’s STILL not allowing me to create new acct!! Even after talking w/ endocrinologist & the InPen Co. expects me to reach out to my MDs for that issue; it’s a repetitive issue! Cannot get this app to work whatsoever! Absolutely ridiculous. It won’t show my glucose levels! Have to check my gluocse lvls on Dexcom g6 & fingersticks other than that no option checking it on the actual app! Continues to say: Dose Calculator Not Set Up. To use Dose Calculator, your Therapy Settings must be entered. This should only be done under the supervision of a trained medical professional. Please update so I can see at a glance how much insulin I have onboard without having to find and pull up the app. ### 1/5 — No widget for iOS 18 *2024-12-14* InPen emailed customers in September to say their app won’t have a widget when iOS 18 is released. I turned off auto updates to remain on iOS 17 because I check insulin on board extremely frequently and unlocking the phone and opening the app is a non starter. To acknowledge a primary function of a medical app is broken and then not address it within a few months is unacceptable. This is not some “nice to have” free app. You make a lot of money off of our insurance paying for your device. I feel bad for everyone who didn’t think to disable iOS auto updates. ### 1/5 — Dexcom G7 readings are not available!!! *2024-11-15, version 5.7.1* Part of the reason I choose to use the InPen is to not be tethered to a pump while also being able to receive the same technology of a pump. I currently use the Dexcom G7 CGM and there is a connection offered on the app to connect to my Dexcom and receive live readings. This should be able to allow for a quicker dose calculation as the blood glucose Reading is already available. However, the G7 does not connect and when calling Medtronic for support, their only response is to call Dexcom and to push the blame off to Dexcom. Apparently, this has been the case for over a year as I am not the only InPen user who has received this exact response from Medtronic. If this issue cannot be corrected in the app then there’s really little point of me using the InPen as the cartridges are way more expensive!! I can just use a regular insulin pen and an IOB tracking app receiving the same results. Medtronic, please fix the issue of allowing the app to display current glucose readings of the G7. If this is not fixed by the time my InPen expires I will not be requesting a prescription for another one. ### 1/5 — Please update! *2024-11-01* When Companion owned this company they were extremely receptive to user feedback and even implemented one of my app requests, but once Medtronic acquired them, it’s been a slow crawl toward any future innovation with InPen. They clearly don’t see the InPen as a high enough ranking product to bother putting the same energy into like Companion once did and as a result nothing ever changes. The least you guys could do is stay up to date with the app. It’s the center of using the device yet it’s been completely neglected and forgotten. The delay with the Dexcom G6 was annoying, but just switched to G7 & it is completely useless. No readings. It is just a Pen. Dexcom please make a pen or find a better partner. The only way I can get back is to close the app and reopen it. I spoke to THREE different reps to get help. ALL said the would look into and get back to me. Still can record my dose. You should be ashamed of yourself Medtronic. Don’t invest in this tool. You acknowledged the feature was not there anymore when iOS 18 came out last year, and you still haven’t fixed it. It’s the primary interface we rely on. We don’t want to open your app ever, we want to check our iob from the Lock Screen. ### 1/5 — Ok; Feature requests *2025-05-31, version 5.7.1* The app is OK, but it lacks many features. I put a one star review in the hopes that the app will get some attention and then I will update my review to a higher rating. It would be nice to have a notification when the app receives an injection. MySugr does this whenever I do a finger stick - so I know it was captured. Basically, I’m in the exact same scenario with the InPen as I was before hand - I have to grab my phone and open the app to make sure that it recorded my injection (and didn’t falsely record a prime, which it does). So why is the InPen any better than a disposable pen plus the Glooko app if I have to open every time I use? Please add a notification ! Also, I can set my target glucose, but cannot set a range. No other diabetes app lacks ranges, so this is very strange! Please add the notifications first, which the option to enable or disable. The range setting can come later. InPen has the worst customer service ever. ### 1/5 — Great product but the app has a major flaw *2025-03-19, version 5.7.1* I’ve had type 1 diabetes for nearly 30 years, and the InPen has been a complete game-changer in helping me keep track of whether or not I’ve taken an insulin dose. It’s an incredible product, and I highly recommend it. That said: the iOS app has a major flaw where it doesn’t always save changes I make to my insulin sensitivity settings on the “Therapy Settings” screen. My insulin sensitivity fluctuates a lot, so I have to go in and adjust those settings every couple of weeks. When I select a new value on any of the fields that have pickers (like “Insulin Sensitivity Factor”), the screen doesn’t always remember the new selection when the picker dismisses, and there’s no visual indicator on the screen to show whether or not a field updated. It took me a really long time (and a lot of stress about my blood sugars!) to realize that this was happening. I’m leaving a 1-star review in hopes that this gets the attention of the InPen dev team, because I can’t find any other way of leaving feedback on the InPen app. I’d be happy to provide more details to the InPen dev team if I had a better way to get in touch than an App Store review. Having it at a max of two doses a day is troublesome especially when there’s people like me who take long acting 3X a day ### 5/5 — Great product *2025-10-13* Absolutely love my InPen!! Makes things so much easier when giving doses of insulin and I love how it calculates my dose. One thing I’d love to see changed is the dosing of long acting insulins. The app only gives you the option of two doses a per day, as I am given three doses per day, I’d love to see the option to have reminders for three times a day. Now with the last update it automatically adds a bunch of carb entries into the log which then throws off the bolus calculator. It’s now useless, if I follow the suggestions I’d be grossly over and under dosing. This bug is irresponsible and dangerous for a medical company to release! I reached out to tech support but no response. You’d think they’d iron these things out considering this is technically considered medical equipment. I’m not a fan of writing negative reviews but If companion medical can find the time to help customers resolve their issues it would be much appreciated. ### 5/5 — I had no idea how much I didn’t know *2020-04-08, version 5.1.0* I’ve been a T1D for 18 years and this has been a game changer. I’ve never wanted to try a pump. My CGM is annoying enough! And the cost of a pump and CGM is crazy. My A1C was always good but I was on a constant roller coaster with my blood sugars. With InPen, I’m amazed at what I didn’t know! Active Insulin in my body? Different sensitivity levels at different times of the day? I have 99% of the tools of a pump built in a pen?!? In short my CGM reading is so much smoother of a line and my time in range has increased 20% up to high 80% consistently. And my daily stress of dealing with my diabetes has gone down drastically. If you take shots or you’re on a pump and it’s getting too pricey, I wouldn’t hesitate to give this a shot. Through AppleHealth means typing the number in myself although the numbers show up in reports due to that Dexcom/Health 3 hour delay. Would also like an Insulin On Board complication for Apple Watch. ### 5/5 — InPen is InCredible. *2020-02-05* I started using the InPen and App last week. It is FANTASTIC!! Once I entered my therapy data, I started seeing information that I never saw before. The app is only going to get better, too. Good diabetes control requires knowing a lot of info. The App includes an online log book so I’ll know if I have myself a shot. I can also enter my blood sugar level whenever I want. The shots are AUTOMATICALLY entered and show in the home screen. It’s good now, and it’s going to get better. The App Store will have to add another star because the InPen App is already a 5.
