### 2/5 — Subscriptions? Really?

*2026-07-31, version 3.0.2*

I am trying to find a daily lectionary with psalm readings and whatnots to help with my prayer life, and this app was the perfect answer. If it wasnt behind a paywall. I understand the church has financial needs and has to get money somehow, but really? Well polished app however, but still. Really?

### 2/5 — No value for paid subscription

*2026-02-05, version 3.0.0*

Updated Feb 2026
The prayer section has been updated to show the newest quarter first. A nice improvement

Unfortunately this app fails at least once a month. I have to delete it and reinstall it to get it to work properly. For a paid subscription it is very disappointing. Because we like the Portals of Prayer devotions we will continue to use the app.

### 2/5 — Last update makes app crash

*2026-01-09, version 3.0.0*

Was working fine till today now it crashes please fix this

### 2/5 — Really want to love it

*2025-12-05, version 2.2.0*

It’s a great idea and premise, but the subscription model and option purchases and all that really sour the experience. The app also often freezes and/or crashes. I can’t even open it on iPhone 17 pro right now.

### 2/5 — Should Be Available in Bible App

*2025-10-07, version 2.2.0*

The lectionary/Treasury should be available in the Bible App (YouVersion) just like the Book of Common Prayer. In a time where Lutherans are concerned with congregational decline, what better way to engage with those unfamiliar with the riches of Lutheran theology? The option of audio readings would be available on that platform as well.

### 2/5 — Buggy

*2025-05-12*

Have this app on ios for access to the treasury of daily prayer. Used to work a bit more smoothly, but now everytime I try to use the app it is unresponsive, freezes and basically crashes my phone.

I like the content and presentation it gives. It is just too unusable with the current glitches.

### 2/5 — Won’t stay open

*2025-03-03, version 2.2.0*

App suddenly closes. Needs an update.

### 2/5 — Not what I was hoping for

*2025-02-26, version 2.2.0*

With the name “InPrayer” I was hoping that it would include prayer resources. There is nothing included with the app download and the resources available for purchase are devotional in nature (so probably some prayers included, but seeming to be more Scripture focused).

### 2/5 — Constantly crashes

*2025-01-07, version 2.2.0*

Consistently crashes before I can even read the daily readings. It’s the most updated version of the app and I tried restarting my phone, nothing helps. This has been going on for weeks.

### 3/5 — 18.1 compatibility?

*2024-11-29*

Unstable/crashes after last update-hope it’s fixed soon! Otherwise, pre-18.1, a wonderful app that keeps all my CPH digital readings in one place

### 3/5 — Overall I like it

*2024-10-13, version 2.0.0*

This is a convenient way for me to have access to Portals of Prayer devotional and also the Treasury of Daily Prayer. There are other devoptionals as well which you can access with a yearly subscription, but you must pay for each publication separately. What I would like to see is a feature similar to the Hallow app which focuses on prayer itself, and guides one into prayer. Using writ prayers from Luther and other Saints, psalms, etc. Also, it would be nice to have hymns and chants available to listen to through the app in audio files. I know I'm probably asking a lot, and this would probably run into a lot of money, but it's just something to think about if CPH would like to improve the app.

### 2/5 — No Options for Those Who Paid For Older

*2024-06-14, version 2.0.0*

I purchased the older version “Pray Now” before this change. I still have access to the app and the daily prayers. So I downloaded this new app and found I have to pay again for content I already paid for on the previous app. I will continue to use the older Pray Now for now.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Crashes, slow to load

*2026-07-21, version 3.0.2*

Please bring back PrayNow! It worked! It was faster, included much more such as the writing for the day. Plus, it was a paid app, and now we are expected to purchase the same material in the new app, which, usually doesn‘t work. The Anglican Daily Office offers so much more, several Bible translations to choose from, complete Morning and Evening Prayer, Compline, traditional or contemporary language, FREE! Up your game CPH!

### 1/5 — Horrible money grab

*2025-09-12, version 2.2.0*

I love the Pray Now app that was previously available, this one is a gross money grab by CPH. You want a devotion? Sure, $10 a year please. Treasury of Daily Prayer was free on the Pray now app, on this app it’s $10 a year. It’s basically nothing but a portal for CPH to sell overpriced devotionals. Save your time and money, just buy the book Daily Treasury or Prayer and use it instead.

### 1/5 — Too complicated

*2025-04-18, version 2.2.0*

Not sure how to get Treasury of Daily Prayer on this app, it’s not showing up as something I can subscribe to or purchase.

### 1/5 — Very disappointed

*2025-04-14, version 2.2.0*

I am upset that I paid for the electronic treasury in the old app. Now I can’t even access what I paid for before and this app expects me to pay monthly? Wow.

### 1/5 — Crashlooping

*2024-11-26, version 2.2.0*

Crashes on load, rendering the app useless.

### 1/5 — Good content—Poor execution

*2024-10-23, version 2.0.0*

So the thought is nice. I like having all my info quickly available on an iPad or iPhone but getting the software to cooperate and not crash is the problem. I can’t actually rely on it to be available when I want to use it.

### 1/5 — In Prayer

*2024-07-24, version 2.0.0*

Adding a charge to the Pray Now app took away my ability to use it as a part of outreach to neighbors, etc.

### 1/5 — need to buy everything

*2024-04-15, version 1.1.3*

jist a scheme to get you to buy all their stuff. I found npthing free. Deleted!

### 1/5 — …and the widget doesn’t work, either

*2024-03-07*

Echoing all the comments about pricing, but on top of that, the widget doesn’t work, either. It’s supposed to show the daily readings, but only shows John 3:16.

### 5/5 — Nice App

*2026-02-23, version 3.0.0*

The Treasury of Daily Prayer was exactly what I was wanting in this app. I didn’t have the previous app and can understand some people not wanting to change but from a new user perspective it’s nice.

### 5/5 — Love the app and the support

*2026-01-20*

Upgrade to my last review, I had an issue with it crashing but reported it to CPH and the got in touch with advice and problem was solved. Love the app and the support service when I ran into an issue.

### 5/5 — Thank you

*2025-02-26, version 2.2.0*

You’ve combined readings from the Daily Lectionary from Lutheran Service Book with readings from the Book of Concord! Great! Thanks!

### 4/5 — Excellent but Sometimes buggy

*2025-12-12, version 2.2.0*

Many reviews fault it for having a subscription model, but this also allows for the opportunity to use many different devotionals for a smaller price. The app is well designed and easy to navigate, jumping from phone to laptop is seamless and the art to accompany many of the readings are nice. This app was sometimes buggy on my phone, but it has recently gotten a lot better, I would recommend it

### 4/5 — Almost Excellent

*2025-01-09, version 2.2.0*

This app is a handy way to keep Portals of Prayer and Today’s Light devotionals always at hand. They include the scripture text for the day’s devotions; allow you to select any desired date; and include the multitude of prayers for special dates and events in Portals of Prayer. The price for these devotionals is quite reasonable, not sure why so many expect these materials to be free.
One complaint: the subscriptions are not eligible for family sharing. If I had purchased a print subscription for these devotional items, my family would share amongst ourselves, so very aggravating that the app version does not allow sharing.
And one suggestion: make more materials available for the app. Specifically, the small catechism (not as subscription but a one-time purchase) would be great; also subscriptions to Martin Luther’s “Day By Day” and the “Faith Alone” daily devotionals would be appreciated options. Hopefully these two items (family sharing and additional subscriptions/purchased materials) will be added over time. CPH, are you listening??

### 4/5 — Excellent!

### 4/5 — 18.1 compatibility?

*2024-12-05, version 2.2.0*

Update: Ok, now I know what everyone is so upset about - add me to the list. PrayNow is a superior app and it has been replaced by this unusable app. Glad I still have PrayNow on my phone!! InPrayer requires purchases of everything and doesn’t offer the same devotional content as PrayNow did. InPrayer is unstable - crashes upon opening after last update-hope it’s fixed soon! I guess I’ll look elsewhere for daily devotions, sadly.

### 4/5 — A bit slow

*2024-06-03*

The app content is fine. Going to the next section is a bit wonky. I have to tap the arrow several times for it to go to the next section—New Testament reading, writing, etc.

### 3/5 — Shuts down constantly

*2025-03-09, version 2.2.0*

I like this app but I have issues with it shutting down almost immediately after I open it. It needs improvement.
