I have been a customer of theirs since Covid, but lately the app is no longer working properly. The moment you submit an order it cannot be edited at all. However, when you try to contact customer support, you get an AI programmed with Instacart’s FAQs. You cannot address app errors with the AI and you cannot submit app trouble reports via the AI either. The ‘best advice’ from the AI is for me to write down all the changes I want to make to my order, wait until the shopper starts shopping, then discuss my list of changes with them. In the App Store for Instacart, the option for app technical assistance takes you to the same AI. Update: talking to an Instacart driver, apparently the app has been locking orders if they include picking up a prescription. ### 2/5 — Unexpected fees *2026-08-24, version 9.30.0* So, there may be no delivery fee, but between markups at certain stores, service fees, regulatory response fees and the Instacart membership, the value is not what I’d hoped. I appreciate the convenience of having groceries delivered and, I realize there is a cost associated with that, but I was unaware that extra fees of roughly $10 per order would be tacked on to the membership fee. In hindsight, I would have been better off to pay for delivery from individual stores directly and skip Instacart entirely, at least then I wouldn’t have a yearly membership fee on top of per order fees. ### 2/5 — No Accountability *2026-08-24, version 9.30.0* Honestly the service was pretty bad. Cancelled my 2-5pm order some time 4pm. The reason? No one knows. AI will give you a hard time connecting to someone via the app because no reason was given. Used to be easy. Today, I had a very busy Sunday so I made a big grocery order to save time. Placed the order. Then Instacart accepted and immediately canceled and refunded mu order. Put my account on hold and canceled my Instacart+ subscription. I received notification to upload my gov ID and credit card. I called their customer service and spoke with someone who sounded like they were working off a script. I asked her to delete my account but she said she couldn’t without my gov ID. I didn’t sign up for that (probably fine print but never actually asked for it). Don’t like uploading ID to private companies.
