In the beginning they had Account Reps that you could call when there was an issue and then later just a general customer support phone number but now there is only chat option. Sometimes the AI answer to the issue is enough but sometimes there is more to the issue and need to talk to a person for help. But there is a huge delay to get responses through chat and they won’t give out an email address for us to even email our questions for a real person to answer or even call us. You just have to cycle a few workers but then you get to add good ones to the roster and have them commit to long term or temp to perm. My HR team uses Instawork as another tool to recruit since costs are up we can’t afford to just hire anybody without trying them out first. Kudos to this wonderful app! I have never use an app so badly designed with 0 help from customer support. When they do finally decide to put your request for help through chat gpt they still don’t answer anything. Cancelling the service right after I finish this review ### 1/5 — Referrals *2025-09-30, version 1.80.0* I am trying to send your app to a fellow business and your drop down menu doesn’t recognize their name, thus not allowing me to send them the referral. ### 1/5 — Borderline scam *2025-08-26, version 1.78.1* Instawork charges you if you have to cancel but does not compensate you when their workers do not show up. They change the hourly rate by up to +25% when you go to book from what they show the hourly rate as. ### 1/5 — Unethical Company *2024-03-13, version 1.59.0* If you have a business and need temporary staffing, avoid this company like the plague. They will set you up with an employee, but it’s rolling the dice whether the employee will show up or not. If you cancel, there is a ridiculous fee. However, if the employee doesn’t show up, the company doesn’t care and will do nothing to remedy their error. Their people are unreliable, there is no phone number to contact a rep when an employee doesn’t show up and their email response time is obscene. The last THREE times I used them, their employee was a no-show and the company was unable to book someone else. So no candidates can apply for interview always. Also, I get A LOTS of emails from instawork saying “xxx just applied for job xxx” but when i go to app, i see ZERO candidate. NOTHING reflects on app. I have been spending so much money for months but no surprise i found NO ONE still. It’s like dealing with the worst used car salesman who is on dope you’ve ever seen. They don’t value the workers, even if the businesses always rate you highly. They are shady about pay and won’t pay you if a business cancels the gig with less than 24 hr notice, which can cause you to miss other jobs. They rarely respond to inquiries and treat you like cattle if they do. I hope they go out of business because it seems like they are already on their way. Poor quality oversight and they don’t prequalify any workers so you are always taking a gamble when hiring thru them. They charge an average of $7-8 per hour per worker on top of booking fee and worker pay rate. Instawork saved the day! I quickly posted the shift, and within a day, I had a skilled bartender ready to step in. The process was straightforward, and I could track everything in the app. The event went smoothly, and I’ll definitely rely on Instawork for future staffing needs. It was a bit pricey but the convenience made it TOTALLY worth it in my situation. I’ve used it to manage call outs and also when I have event spikes where I need extra folks.
