I was shocked when I saw how much I got for the money. Included are tons of beautiful color diagrams and information ranging from the basics to advanced IFR flight. This app is so easy to navigate, read and so much better than carrying around the clunky book. This is a must have app for all pilots and instructors alike, whether you need a refresher or you are getting ready for you instrument check ride. I found this piece of software to be unintuitive in its use, useless in its content, and unmotivating in its presentation. You would be far better off with the FAA manual on instrument flying. ### 1/5 — Revised Versions Terrible *2012-09-09, version 3.01* What they have done with these FAA books is truly a step backward. They no longer resemble the original FAA publication, and are more difficult to navigate and read. You find the handbook as other Apps by other programers in this market. ### 2/5 — Kinda dissapointing *2010-09-18* the app itself mostly just sites information without the detail. It tells you to refer to the AIM (aeronautical information publication) in regards to most technical aspects of IFR. I was looking for a quick reference study guide while I renewed my instrument rating, this does not have alternate approach minima, obstacle clearance fir MEA/MOCA or AMA in different regions. No minimum equipment list. There is also no mention of approach ban, contact approach, or visual approach. I looked at both details about it and decided this was worth the extra dollar. It has worked out really well so far. I only have two complaints and they are minor of course. The first being that it would be nice if you could highlight and save certain paragraphs or sentences rather than having to "favorite" the whole page. Also, if you leave the app momentarily and use something else on the iPad, and want to go back and continue reading the same page it won't allow you to scroll down. The solution for this is that you simply have to click to the previous or next page and then go back to the page you wanted and it resets it in a way. Other than that the app is great. I'm sure that minor bug will be fixed momentarily. After several hours of research and reading countless reviews of the various IFR apps on the market, I decided on this one. After using it now for about three weeks, I find hard to believe how much information and functionality this apps contains. The only thing I'd like to see in an update or new build is the ability to print from the app..
