The results of the 2018 International Wine Challenge are here, and we’ve listed the results for more than 10,000 wines and sakes from the competition, with tasting notes for over 6,700 medal-winning examples from 52 different countries. There’s a wealth of accompanying information, including full bottle images for all the wines. We’ll show you where to buy the wines, and how much they will cost. You can rate your favourite wines and save your own tasting notes for later reference. And as it is done alphabetically, any wine producers in the second half of the alphabet get a very raw deal. If you look at the list of Trophy winners, the list cuts off in the letter D. So we can see one of the Trophy-winning wines starting with a letter after that. If you look at the list of “Great Value” wines, it is even worse: it cuts off at the letter B, for heaven’s sake! If you delve deeper into the app, things are just as bad. Look at the Spanish wine section, for example, and the list of Trophy and gold medal winning wines runs out during the letter M. Oh, and don’t try going to a country list to look at all it’s listed wines - that just freezes the app and you have to shut it down. All in all, an absolutely pathetic and woeful effort at an app. The organisers of the IWC should hang their heads in shame that this is how they attempt to present the competition to the public. (If they paid a company to produce this app for them, they should demand their money back.) And the wine producers who have won medals in this year’s IWC should be kicking up a huge stink that this is how badly their success is publicised. It is shameful, really. ### 2/5 — Challenging *2016-08-05, version 2.3* Poorly designed app which does navigate properly and has no stockist information. ### 1/5 — Mr *2015-05-24, version 1.4.1* Well on the beaten track/well worn path. There are only 13 countries producing wine, apparently. ### 2/5 — Could be useful.... *2014-06-17, version 1.3* If the search function actually worked (iPhone 5s).... ### 3/5 — Search option not working *2014-02-06, version 1.3* The app is really helpful to know which wine to look for. Gives information and judges views on the wines. Some even have the information regarding price. Only issue, is that although is possible to put some filters per grape, country, region, etc. is not possible to use the "Search box" option to check wines by name (does not work on my iPad nor iPhone 4S). ### 5/5 — For wine lovers everywhere *2013-12-18, version 1.3* Excellent App. Details of all medal winning wines are stored in the App so no need for data connection (useful if in the heart of some huge supermarket). Filtering works exceptionally well, allowing you to easily identify for example 'white Gold medal Winning wines from Sainsburys at less than £10' (yes there are some). The App is quite an eye opener in terms if where to find high quality good value wines, but those 'half price' offers won't look quite so attractive in future. ### 4/5 — Delete and re-download *2012-11-20, version 1.1* I deleted the old version and downloaded the update and it works! ### 1/5 — Update 18 Nov *2012-11-18, version 1.1* Was looking forward to the store filter. Having updated the app will not open ### 1/5 — Completely useless *2012-09-26, version 1.0* If I'm in Tesco, I want to know which award-winning wines I can buy there.
