### 3/5 — Meh

*2026-07-11, version 6.3.1*

Some of the lessons are inaccurate and misleading. But can be useful and helpful at certain times. This app wouldn’t be my first choice. If you want to learn without fail and with correct sources, don’t use this app.

### 4/5 — Limited lessons

*2026-06-23, version 6.3.1*

Very nice but it has a limited amount of lessons a day so I can’t keep learning as much as I would like.

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2026-06-22, version 6.3.1*

I’ve been trying to get fluent in sight language but all the apps I’ve tried only let me do one free lesson a dad or they try to get me to get a membership. This app is free, unlimited lessons, doesn’t try to convince you to pay, and it’s easy to use

### 5/5 — InterSign ASL

*2026-06-18, version 6.3.1*

Is super good I learned a lot of ASL

### 4/5 — Good App for Free

*2026-06-15, version 6.3.1*

I am into section 3 of 17 sections of lessons and so far am enjoying it. I already knew many basic signs so this has been some good refresher and then adding new words. I do think it needs to provide more instruction on proper sentence structure. Maybe that will come in future sections but it is testing sentence creation with the words taught and I often am unsure of the sign order as it is different than just speaking. It also on occasion will have the same word taught in two different lessons (glasses was one). Also there are 3 ladies who provide the signs in videos, and each has their own style. One is the main instructor, and she is more clear. One of the other ladies is more relaxed in her signs. I guess this helps learn different approaches to signing so will be good in the long run, but sometimes it is hard to tell what the more relaxed approach lady is signing.

### 5/5 — Good

*2026-06-14, version 6.3.1*

It’s really good if you’re just starting ASL I would recommend it if you want to learn the beginning teaches you insanely fast. I would recommend getting it. There’s barely any ads and it’s free.

### 4/5 — Great app

*2026-06-10, version 6.3.1*

This app is great though I will say-
The woman who signs the letters sometimes makes it very confusing. For instance
When she is signing the letters “m” she makes it look like a unknown letter same with the letter “o”

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2026-06-08, version 6.3.1*

Absolutely amazing app, interactive, accountable, great lessons, FREE, no other app is like this, I’ve tried every other ASL app, nothing compares.

### 3/5 — Good but has many errors

*2026-06-08, version 6.3.1*

I love this app by I often see errors. There’s errors with answers like with fruit it asks for sweet strawberries but strawberries isn’t an option for an answer it saw cherries as correct. There’s even errors with the example signs like red the side profile shows a different sign that the front profile example. It’s enjoyable but it makes me scared and wonder if I’m being taught the correct signs

### 5/5 — Great app

*2026-05-23, version 6.2.0*

This app has helped me so much, I love how it helps learn the abcs and you can choose any words you want to learn, this has helped me communicate with my deaf cousin and my aunt. Thank you for making such a good app.

### 5/5 — Great App

### 3/5 — Hard to read signs

### 5/5 — Very great app!!!

*2026-05-12, version 6.2.0*

The app is simple to navigate and also easy to learn from!! Awesome !

### 4/5 — Love it…except…

*2026-05-12, version 6.2.0*

I love this app and so do my daughters; however, some of the adds are a bit inappropriate and that does disappoint me because I’m very protective of my kids and what they are exposed to. Other than that we love it!

### 5/5 — Awesome app

*2026-05-07, version 6.2.0*

Barely any ads and no subscription finally I’ve tried multiple apps I wanted to learn asl for free and I found it

### 5/5 — This app helps so much!!

*2026-05-01, version 6.2.0*

For the longest time I’ve wanted to learn ASL, but all the in person classes were too expensive. This app really helps with both my learning and the expenses. Thank you!

### 5/5 — Helps a lot

*2026-05-01, version 6.2.0*

It helped me learn how to spell with signing quickly and read sign letter quickly as well. There are adds at the end of each lesson but they are short . We get gems and streaks like in Duolingo. It’s completely free and a great way to learn sign language fast. Highly recommended if you are looking for a free app.

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2026-04-30, version 6.2.0*

Love this app. First one I found that’s free!!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Ads freeze the screen

*2026-08-01, version 7.0.4*

Unable to progress through a single lesson as ads freeze the screen and render it useless. Truly, there’s no way to wait it out, skip it, anything. Disappointing.

### 1/5 — Stoped working

*2026-06-29, version 6.3.1*

It was working for a while and I rlly liked it but it randomly started saying Null check operator used on null value and won’t go away

### 1/5 — ;)

*2026-04-26, version 6.2.0*

So good loved it I can now speak fluently

### 1/5 — Ads

*2026-02-18, version 6.2.0*

I thought this app was going to be great because everyone seems to love it, but I can’t get past the second lesson because once I complete it the app gets stuck at the end of the add. I really wanted to like this app but I can’t if there’s no way to move past lesson 2. this makes me really sad.

### 1/5 — Poor customer service

*2026-01-28, version 6.2.0*

The app is great. It’s been working fine since November till last week but now the app is not loading. I’ve emailed customer service but have not heard back from anyone. I’ve deleted the app and reinstalled it but it still won’t load. I paid for the premium subscription. I’ve had to call Apple Support in hopes I can get my money back as I don’t think it’s ok to not get a service I paid for. Honestly, I just want the app to work since I’ve learned a lot in to months.

### 1/5 — Poor customer service

*2026-01-20, version 6.2.0*

The app is great. It’s been working fine since November till last week but now the app is not loading. I’ve emailed customer service but have not heard back from anyone. I’ve deleted the app and reinstalled it but it still won’t load. Has anyone else ran into this problem?

### 1/5 — Poor Hand Orientations

*2025-12-22, version 6.2.0*

Signs are hard to follow due to poor handshape and orientation.

### 1/5 — Don’t get it

*2025-12-19, version 6.2.0*

Worst ASL app ever. I’d get it 0 stars. First, there’s no actual lessons (granted I know about 200 signs including A-Z and 1-20) second, I don’t think it’s a great idea to be having it signed towards you because nobody signs that way. It’s hard to make out what the letters are when the last is signing it towards you. Just because it’s free doesn’t mean it’s worth it because honestly, it’s not.

### 1/5 — they dont show what you supposed to learn

*2025-11-03, version 6.0.0*

the preview they show us isnt AT ALL what the ASL is .. i could go on google and its not what this app is showing

### 1/5 — Inaccurate hand placement

*2025-10-16, version 6.0.0*

For some reason, she has the pictures taken with the K & D facing towards the camera

### 5/5 — Love this

*2026-08-17, version 7.0.4*

I downloaded this when my (D/HH)baby was in the NICU. This is my top recommendation to anyone who asks me how I learned ASL/where to start!

### 5/5 — cool app

*2026-08-12, version 7.0.4*

from all the asl apps ive tried, this is the most helpful. just a little sad it only gives 6 lessons by day, but really helpful at the same time. i recommand

### 5/5 — Great fun learning ASL

*2026-07-24, version 6.3.1*

What a fun way to learn ASL at your own pace. Interpreters are great and love the turtle icon to slow down and can repeat as many times as it takes. Only wish that when you are translating a sentence and get it wrong that it would show you where so you can learn to do correct.

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2026-07-10, version 6.3.1*

This app is absolutely amazing for learning asl! I started as a complete beginner and now I can show my family and friends sign language and talk to people! I would 100% recommend this app for anyone who wants to get into asl!

### 5/5 — LOVE IT 😍

*2026-07-06, version 6.3.1*

Whenever I got this I learned the alphabet in 20 mins now I can spell anything and everything. Before I got it I didn’t even now how to do “hi”. I highly highly recommend this to everyone who is interested in signing. There are a couple ads but they are not annoying and they don’t just pop up in your face all of a sudden. They are also not those dumb irritating kinds of ads. Definitely try this.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2026-07-05, version 6.3.1*

This app is great- has multiple exercises and ways to reinforce learning.

### 5/5 — Worth it!

*2026-07-02, version 6.3.1*

The best app out of he four I downloaded, it’s clear and easy to follow. Would recommend

### 5/5 — Awsome

*2026-07-01, version 6.3.1*

I have tried a bunch of asl apps and this one is the best I don't have to pay to get more than one lesson and they teach you very well there are some adds but they don't pop up a lot so five stars

### 5/5 — Free to Use Option

*2026-06-26, version 6.3.1*

As a parent of a hard of hearing child, it’s so refreshing to finally find an ASL app with a free to use option (watching ads.)

ASL is more than just an “elective” language, it’s a form of communication for a disability—for those who are hard of hearing/deaf.

This has been a great source to learn ASL for our infant son.
