### 2/5 — simple app

*2025-06-21, version 2.2.4*

too simple that you don’t have options for sound effects, can barely hear the interval announcer

### 3/5 — Needs a few more things to be perfect

*2024-08-26*

I love the simplicity of this app and it almost meets the need of what I’ve been looking for. Three things that would make this perfect:
1) a tabulation of total time of the workout you’ve created before getting started
2) announcements at the cool down period and at the congratulations screen, like the warmup and the intervals have (I put my phone in a running belt so if it doesn’t talk to me, I don’t know I’m at this point)
3) the ability to still announce when the screen is turned off. Right now, if I turn off the screen it will notify me visually but not over audio. And because I’m not looking at my phone while running, I have to keep my screen bright.

### 4/5 — Great app!

*2024-06-13*

Would give 5 stars but only 2 options - run or walk. For longer workouts and choosing a run/walk/jog split it would be nice to change intervals based on set vs having just a set run or walk period. Still a great app!

### 2/5 — Cannot pause it

*2024-03-17, version 2.2.4*

It would be nice if you could have an option to pause the timer. Also, the “Time remaining “ must be larger so I don’t have to put my glasses on to read it !!
Otherwise, a nice simple timer.

### 3/5 — Walk to run

*2023-08-10, version 2.2.3*

You can set yourself up to run an interval, then walk an interval. But you can’t start off with walking. Please make this an option!!!

### 2/5 — Sound

*2023-01-14*

Will gladly change rating if problem can be fixed:

Can’t get sound to notify when phone is closed, I have music playing, but other apps have reduced the volume to give interval alert.

I’ve checked my settings, and another similar app works just fine, but this one won’t and I’d prefer to use this one if I can get it working.

### 2/5 — Apple Watch

*2022-01-30, version 2.2.3*

Hi don’t you have an Apple Watch application?
Are you planning to have one?

### 4/5 — Set to yourself and goals

*2022-01-17, version 2.2.3*

I love how you get set the intervals to how you want it and for how long. You have to leave the app open so you can hear the prompts otherwise it just buzzed which isn’t useful when you jogging you don’t feel it .
It would be useful if you could still hear the prompts if you were using another app, but it’s not the end of the world as you can set up your podcast or music and then start the interval app and keep it open. Takes a bit of adjusting to know how many repetitions are needed for the time you want to be exercising.

### 4/5 — Well-done app but most options not free (freemium)

*2022-01-06*

This app is easy to use and works well. But most options require $2 upgrade. The free version gets you about 10 minutes of run time (although you can quickly start a new cycle) and limited time ranges for walk/run.

### 4/5 — Cool App

*2021-06-19, version 2.2.3*

Does the job. I don’t care for the mechanical voice.

### 4/5 — Ok app if you stare at screen

*2021-02-24*

The app was easy to set up and loud enough for me to hear but I don’t hold my phone in my hand when I run. I locked my screen to put it in my pocket and none of the reminders made any sound. Really disappointed.

### 3/5 — Counter not working perfectly

*2021-01-08, version 2.2.2*

Good App, but unfortunately it stops the counter during the workout sometimes so you have to restart the app and set a new counter.

### 4/5 — Verbal cues

*2020-10-07*

When I turn my screen off (while listening to Bluetooth earbuds) to put my phone in my pocket while I run, the verbal cues do not work. I ended up having to carry my phone in my hand with the screen on. Otherwise the app is great, simple and easy to use. Mostly does what I was looking for.

**Developer response:** Hi, thanks for feedback! Please try the latest update, now voice prompts work even with locked phone, and it has some other improvements too :)

### 2/5 — Good idea, needs work

*2020-09-29*

Wish I had read the reviews before I paid for the app. It’s exactly what I want as far as setting intervals. However, it only notifies you of the intervals if your screen is open... that is not convenient, in the least, when you are trying to run. Also, it does not communicate with the Apple Watch. Most apps will have a function where it plays a noise and/or vibrates your watch when it’s time to change intervals. Fix these small things and I would give this 5 stars.

**Developer response:** Hi Flea9303, thanks for feedback! New update 2.2.0 was just released and it should fix mentioned issues - interval notifications now work on locked phone and your watch should receive notifications too. Please check it :)

### 3/5 — Looked promising... then immediately deleted

*2020-09-10*

This app looked like exactly what I needed! But then when I went to set a timer for the warm up and cool down, it limited me to two minutes without paying. Looks like a great app unless you’re interested in purchasing this app or don’t want a timer for the bookends of your workout.

**Developer response:** Hi Emmat! Yes, there are some limitations in free version. So you can try it and then buy full version if you've liked app :)

### 4/5 — Simple and easy but...

*2020-09-02*

Great app, simple and easy to set up and use but the prompts need to be louder or different options. The voice is very muted and monotone, I had to really listen for it while I was also listening to a podcast and missed it once. I’m not sure I could hear it if listening to music. Love the functionality though!

**Developer response:** Hi Krfrey! In new update we've updated notifications voice, hope you won't miss it now :)

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Stoped working with music in background

*2023-07-04, version 2.2.3*

It was fine until I started listening to music and put my phone in the pocket. Then the timer just froze ovwr and over again.

### 1/5 — Poor notifications … disappointed

*2022-10-16, version 2.2.3*

The app is either not capable or not easy enough to figure out how to get audible notifications for each interval. I was only able to get a vibration which doesn’t really work while rubbing with my phone in my running sports pouch pocket.

### 1/5 — 0/10

*2022-05-30, version 2.2.3*

useless app, if you want to do more than a 3 min workout you have to pay.

### 1/5 — Does not work for me :(

*2021-06-29*

In principle I love the idea of this simple app. Sadly, it does nit work for me. The app does not work on lock mode, but when it is unlocked and in my pocket it also stops working. Today it reprogrammed itself while in my pocket, walk interval turned to 50 minutes and total exercise time to 5000 minutes. I am not kidding. Need to look for something else.

### 1/5 — Scam

*2021-01-17, version 2.2.3*

If you want to charge for your app, go ahead. Don’t pretend it’s free when you basically only offer a demo.

### 1/5 — Awful, and buggy.

*2020-12-07, version 2.2.2*

It looks simple, which is what I wanted. But when I set it and went for a run, the voice prompts only worked once and the app kept failing to actually count intervals. I had to repeatedly stop and check my phone only to find out that the counter had stopped almost right away. Not worth the $1.99 I spent.

### 1/5 — Do not recommend

*2020-10-23*

I have this app on iPhone. Don’t get audio notifications when phone is on Lock Screen so I have to leave phone screen on for the whole run. If I get ANY other notification while app is running it freezes and won’t restart timer. I have to reset the entire run. Very limited features compared to price and bug issues. Not worth the money if you’re an actual runner looking for interval training.

### 1/5 — I want a refund.

*2020-09-12*

Where do I start? I purchased this to do some running intervals with. Runners beware. This is not the app for that. I immediately had to purchase the full version for intervals 2+ minutes in length. I ended up setting a couple of run/walk sets totaling 10 minutes and was doing an out and back style run. The prompts do not sound if your phone is on locked screen. Who runs with their phone in hand and screen on? I put mine in a carrier so I can’t continue to take it out and check the time. I missed the first interval by over 4 minutes because I never got a prompt. Then I realized my phone is on silent. In other running apps, you can silence your phone so that you only hear your music and your run prompts (MapMyRun, Nike Running Club, etc.). This app does not do that. When my sound was on, I STILL didn’t get any prompts and didn’t know when my last interval ended. Again, because you have to have your phone screen on 100% of your workout to see them. Runners, don’t waste your money or time. Go pro on one of the better known apps for run training. I wish I could get my money back.

**Developer response:** Hi j.and.t! Voice prompts while app is in background is in our roadmap for next update. Hope we'll be able to implement them and app will be useful for you too.
Thanks for such detailed feedback and have a good day!

### 1/5 — TRAGIC

*2020-09-02, version 2.1.1*

- The app is using a lot of battery
- you can’t change the voice which is annoying
- sometimes timer resets to the warmup so you can lose track of your workout
- there is no track of distance or calories, it’s just a timer that goes round and round because you can pick only two intervals in a session
- the voice is silent when phone is locked (not on silent mode)

And that’s all in the paid version. Real mistake

### 1/5 — Not worth the money

*2020-06-24*

I get that this is a simple timer, but it is way too simple to pay money for... if I’m going to have to pay for an app, I would expect to be able to set more than one timer or be able to save timers depending on the workout I’m doing. And this has no audible to go with the buzzing of the time. So, if you’re running and listening to music, this timer does not buzz into your headphones to let you know the next interval is starting: you have to be able to feel the vibration or you won’t know where you are in the sequence. There are better apps to pay for and get more for your money.

**Developer response:** Hi Lilmamaharv, thanks for your feedback! Goal of the app is to be quick and simple, that's why it has only 1 timer, so you can quickly start your workout without choosing which timer should be used.
App sends voice notifications when your device isn't muted, so probably you was running with enabled mute on phone, please try to unmute phone on your next workout.
If you have any other feedback or proposals, please contact us at interval.runs@gmail.com
Have a good day!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great app to Gradually get back into running

*2023-10-22, version 2.2.4*

I love the app . I just wish the prompts could still be heard when it’s minimized.

### 5/5 — Exactly what I needed

*2022-09-29*

Perfect for what I needed. Most reviews are old and they have fixed what folks were complaining about. I did have to purchase the $1.99 upgrade to get more than 10 minutes of running time, but that’s common so I didn’t mind spending it. Very straightforward and so simple to use. Super happy with this app no complaints so far!!

### 5/5 — Good for exercise

*2022-07-29, version 2.2.3*

Nice

### 5/5 — Apple Watch vibrate

*2022-02-16, version 2.2.3*

It vibrates on my Apple Watch. I like that.

### 5/5 — Alarma cuando terminan

*2020-11-22, version 2.2.2*

Deberían poner una alarma con sonido cuando uno termina

### 5/5 — Developer responds!

*2020-10-14*

I had a small issue and sent an email to the developer. I received a response right away and was helped immediately. Great, simple and effective app.

**Developer response:** Thanks Starr!

### 5/5 — Exactly what I wanted!!!!

*2020-07-09*

I’ve been trying Couch to 5k type apps for a while and for one reason or another there were things I did t like about it. Either you couldn’t customize it exactly how you wanted it, or there would be an issue with it working with Apple Music, and on and on. Then I found Interval Run. You can customize it how you want. Also, it works perfect with Apple Music by that I mean you launch Apple Music and it plays, you launch Interval Run and it still plays. And most important, for me anyway, when the voices come in to tell you to run, walk, etc, the music fades down, you can actually hear the Interval app voices, then the music cranks back up. Absolutely no issues. Love it. So now I can set my Apple Watch running workout, start my Apple Music playlist, then start Interval Run and I’m off.

**Developer response:** Wow, thanks for such detailed review, Priester68!
Very glad to be so useful for your workouts :)

### 5/5 — Simple, effective

*2020-07-08, version 2.1.1*

Awesome app for quarantine life.

### 5/5 — Einfach und Gut

*2020-03-05, version 2.1.1*

Top! Genau das, was ich gesucht habe.

PS.: wenn man noch was verbessern möchte, so würde ich mir eine Historie der Trainings wünschen.

### 5/5 — Easy and clean — works as advertised.

*2019-10-16, version 1.1.7*

Great app, and very straightforward as it does exactly (and only) what I need it to for my running program.
