### 5/5 — Fantastic App

*2025-01-15, version 3.17.6*

As someone who is recovering from an eating disorder, I very much appreciate this app! It has helped me to become in tune with my hunger and fullness cues, as well as, see an overall picture of the food I’m consume throughout the day.

### 5/5 — Just started intuitive eating and I've lost weight

*2025-01-01, version 3.17.4*

Lately, I have had my appointments on the last day before January 1, 2025, and I weighed 236 pounds and was on my intuitive eating journey. I've been intuitive eating for a while and I don't weigh myself because I don't find it helpful for me. Because I am an empath and emotional person, I decided to attempt intuitive eating. It will take a while to get accustomed to eating food with intuition.

As humans, we’re emotional creatures and I strongly believe we all should trust our intuition in our daily lives, especially with nutrition, and our lifestyle.

The only feedback I recommend for this eating buddy app is to make it a time payment of $24.99 instead of a subscriptions. It defeats the purpose of using the app just for the features.

Overall, it's a great app for helping me to log my hunger levels and log the food and drinks I consume showing that I am being more intuitive with my relationship with food.

### 5/5 — Eating Buddy is Well Name

*2024-12-19*

This is a very useful, easy to use app. It helps me stop and take a moment to reflect on “am I hungry” before eating. You can check in throughout the day and look at end of day to see a summary of what you ate and drank. Many times, the summary has helped me realize I was better than I thought.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the review. We are glad you are enjoying this app.

### 5/5 — Actually free to use

*2024-11-21*

I really appreciate that they let you use the main feature without paying. It’s always like “can I try the app first before committing 20 bucks a month?” And the other apps always say “NO! We only did this for money so pay up.” but this app politely lets you in and give you a nice freshly squeezed lemonade. It’s enjoyable to say the least.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the 5-star review and kind words! We're glad this approach resonates with you and will strive to keep it that way.

### 5/5 — Useful

*2024-10-23, version 3.16.1*

This app has helped me identify whether I’m hungry or just stress eating so has proved invaluable in my quest to stop constant snacking. Three stars as I think it would be more useful if the notes and tags were displayed in the timeline. They’re a bit useless otherwise.

EDIT: notes and tags are in the timeline now so changed my rating accordingly ☺️. Thanks for making these changes.

### 5/5 — Changed my life

*2024-10-02, version 3.15.4*

Quite simply this app has changed my life. My relationship with food has been all messed up and very quickly I got back in control again and am loving it. I decided to pay for the challenges as they seem to help me a lot but the free app is still brilliant and very easy to use.

I’m 74 with a lifetime of yo-yo dieting and occasional binge eating behind me. This really has been a game changer for me.

### 5/5 — Love it

*2024-09-30, version 3.15.3*

Lovely app

### 5/5 — Brilliant!

*2024-09-20, version 3.15.0*

This app is brilliant. It really helps you track your eating and hunger - not in a diet-y way, but in a sensible way. All those years of dieting have been wasted. What I really needed was an app like this. It has helped me to ditch dieting forever and the freedom that brings has actually helped me to lose some weight. But that is just a side effect. I feel better and more in control of my life. It has opened my eyes to show just how disordered my eating has been all my life.

### 5/5 — Great little app

*2024-09-15*

Perfect little app to help with intuitive eating

**Developer response:** Thank you for the review!

### 5/5 — Easy to use and valuable

*2024-09-08*

This is a great app to use for keeping track and encouraging mindful eating.
I use it to keep track of medication, vitamins and water too.
It would be great if you could add a button for medication/vitamins and water. That way you needed always use a hunger level.
Or it might be great to come out with an app very similar to this for just medication vitamins and water, for some people. Occasionally I don’t remember just when I take a med, with this it really helps. But I prefer an all in one.
Anyway highly recommend!

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback and for using our app. Please note that you can already log water using the upper right button on the Home screen. We’ve added your idea to our backlog and will explore how we can integrate it into the current design. Thanks again for your input!

### 5/5 — Love the app

*2024-08-07, version 3.13.0*

Loving the app it’s really help me to think more before I eat and it’s making me make better choices .

Can you tell me how I log my hydration as I can only seem to log meals

### 5/5 — Very helpful :)

*2024-06-13*

I really like this app! I have been trying to eat intuitively for years, but I still often find myself eating chaotically or falling back into restrictive eating patterns.

This helps me to reflect on my eating without becoming obsessive. It has even motivated me to cook more, especially because of the photo upload feature. I love seeing the timeline filled with photos of meals I cooked.

My only suggestion would be to change the word “Satisfied” on the fullness scale to something else like “Slightly full” or “Satiated”. IMHO, satisfaction has more to do with mood and taste rather than actual fullness level.

**Developer response:** Hey, thanks for the great review! We are happy you find it useful. That's exactly what we wanted it to be: an app that allows people to eat freely while maintaining a sense of accountability.

We agree that satisfied is a generic term. We will explore different options, including the ones you suggested, to identify the most appropriate one for the application's content.EDIT: We changed it to slightly hungry and added a separate satisfaction rating system from one to five. Thank you again for your suggestion.

### 5/5 — Eating Buddy

*2024-06-11*

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

I love how you have continued developing this app.

I found it a year and a half ago. You added a memo and that really helped me in 2023.

I’m back and ready to use ‘Eating Buddy’ to track my food. Thank you for sharing your story. Thank you for your encouragement in the tips, the new challenges and reminding me that; it’s going to take time and stopping to eat when I am full. 😀

I have looked at a lot of intuitive eating information and at a lot of apps. Thank you for your hard work on this app.

Thank you!!
Robyn

**Developer response:** Hello, thanks for the review and suggestion.

We will consider it; the tricky part is that we only have screens for meals and not for the entire day.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Well done, but dislike the pig graphics

*2022-09-20, version 1.1.8*

I’m so sorry if I sound petty, but I just couldn’t keep using this app because the main graphics featuring a pig bothered me so much. Yes, the pig is cute, but as I'm recovering from an binge eating disorder, the suggestion of “eating like a pig” feels hurtful. This is just my opinion, and is the reason I removed it and won’t be using it. 😔

### 2/5 — Major bug

*2025-05-13*

Unfortunately this app didn’t work when I tried it. Nothing happened when I clicked on the “log meal” pizza button, making the app useless. I also was put off by the intro message giving the tip to not eat processed food. Thankfully I don’t struggle with that but most people come to intuitive eating after a history of disordered eating and food anxiety and shame. Don’t tell people how or what to eat.

**Developer response:** Thank you for taking the time to share your experience — we really appreciate the feedback.

To log a meal, just tap your hunger level on the Home screen. That will bring up the food screen where you can select what you ate. We’ll look into making that flow clearer for anyone who skips or misses the intro.

Regarding the message about processed foods, we understand your concern. Our intention was to highlight how certain additives can sometimes make it harder to tune into your body’s natural signals — not to suggest that any foods are off-limits or that there’s a “right” way to eat. We’re revisiting the wording to make sure it reflects an inclusive, non-restrictive approach to intuitive eating.

Thanks again for your thoughtful feedback — it really helps us improve.

### 2/5 — Just okay

*2025-02-13, version 4.0.3*

Not as user friendly as I was hoping for. Don’t really like how it still feels like diet culture. I was hoping it would be more neutral and just help you document the facts about hunger and fullness, satisfaction and gentle nutrition.

### 2/5 — Log meals

*2024-05-13*

Can’t figure out how to log foods

**Developer response:** Hello, we are very sorry you are having issues logging food. The process will start when you press the button corresponding to your current hunger level on the "Log Meal" screen. We would be happy to assist you. Please send us an email at hello@eatingbuddy.app

### 3/5 — Insights that can help you make changes

*2025-03-20*

I like the idea of tuning in to why I go to food, mostly to change my behavior and stop mindless eating. The app is easy to use. You record your hunger level any time you eat, and if you say you’re “neutral” or not hungry, you pick why you are eating. You can customize these reasons. There are a few articles to read to help you.
I wish my data would sync between my devices; this would add a star to my rating.
The “reports” are pretty basic, and don’t offer any analysis or recommendations, another thing that would add a star.

### 3/5 — Useful

*2024-06-10*

This app has helped me identify whether I’m hungry or just stress eating so has proved invaluable in my quest to stop constant snacking. Three stars as I think it would be more useful if the notes and tags were displayed in the timeline. They’re a bit useless otherwise.

**Developer response:** Hey Atol, thanks for your message.
Update: The changes are now available in version 3.9.1. Thanks again for your feedback.se, and your suggestions couldn't come at a better time. We will make the timeline entries bigger so they can fit all the information. We hope you will revisit it in a couple of weeks and share your feedback.Update: the changes are available now in version 3.9.1. Thanks again for your suggestion.

### 4/5 — Great App

*2025-04-09, version 4.0.9*

I am new to intuitive eating and this app is great. It lets me log all the important things: food, satiety, fullness and movement. I love the “check-in” option, to track how my hunger fluctuates through the day. Would love to see the ability to add movement that isn’t tied to Apple Watch (manual add, similar to meals)

### 4/5 — Great App! Check In?

*2024-10-07*

Love the app! So quick and easy to log hunger and fullness levels. I really like the features which allow to log/journal as much or as little as you’d like for any eating experience.

I have one question: what is the “check in” feature and where do I find it?

Thanks!

**Developer response:** Hi Rvolak, we are happy you find the app useful! Checkins are a way to record your hunger/fullness levels between meals. They are meant to help you tune into your body’s signals throughout the day. You can find them on the home screen. They are the buttons with the pin icon, next to the log food ones. Please send us an email if you are having trouble finding them.

### 4/5 — Easy and helpful for mindfulness eating

*2024-01-15, version 2.3.2*

If mindfulness eating is your goal, this will help. You need to get into the habit of checking in as you eat but it doesn’t take time and now I use it 95% of the time after only starting 4 days ago. I’m not a tech person. Don’t like Apps BUT this one is very useful, simple and helping me.

### 4/5 — Simple and Effective

*2023-07-21*

I like this app for being more mindful when I eat. I appreciate the notification to report my satiety several minutes after I eat. I like that it doesn’t require you to put in a ton of details, count calories, etc.

I do wish there was an option to log symptoms/post notes in between logged meals. That way I could keep better track of how certain foods make me feel after the fact.

I’m very appreciative of this app. Thank you for creating it. 🙏

**Developer response:** We are happy you find the app useful. Thank you for the suggestion. Version 1.6.3 is out, and it contains the changes you wanted. If you enable Check-in from the Settings menu (Check-in on Long Press), you can add notes to each one. Hope it helps.

*2025-08-03, version 4.3.0*

i love this app it has helped me for over a year and is everything i was looking for in a app to help me get better

everything was perfect till the recent update, it kept kicking me out of the app every time i finished logging a meal

thank you so much

### 5/5 — Really Helpful

*2025-04-21, version 4.0.9*

I thought I was good at intuitive eating but this app has really given me some needed structure and also taught me that one “bad” meal really doesn’t ruin anything. Great way to visualise and also take a moment to make sure my meal is mindful.
Some tips that would be nice to see:
- Not all soft drinks are bad! I think we should be able to choose for these to be added to our total drinks.
- I think eating when you are “ravenous” is also not ideal and should not be encouraged, this has been an issue for me before where I wait until I am way too hungry and I think this does encourage over eating. I think eating at “ravenous” should be discouraged somehow.
- the app prompts you for a reason if you’re eating and you’re not hungry, this is good but you have to pick one level of hunger for this prompt to come up for? Unless I’m wrong. I think you should be able to pick multiple (e.g neutral, full etc)
- more articles would be great!
- I know this one is a big ask but a community on here would be so good where people can post and we can talk together.

Thanks so much I’m really pleased with the app.

### 5/5 — So helpful

*2025-02-15*

I’ve been using this app for 10 days and already I notice a big difference in how I approach food. It has given me a lot of clarity about my choices in terms of satiety and how I space out my intake. I have learned a lot about what kinds of meals actually give me enough energy and how my hunger levels fluctuate. This type of gentle data collection has given me peace of mind knowing what is normal for me and made me more mindful overall. It gives me structure without feeling too obsessive. I also feel a sense of pride seeing all the beautiful things I get to eat and it makes me so grateful. It’s giving me so much more confidence… before I was filled with self-doubt and a sense that my eating habits were filled with chaos. Now I can trust that I can learn and move on and celebrate my wins.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review! We're so glad to hear that the app is helping you feel more confident and mindful about your eating habits. Keep up the great work, and we’re honored to be a part of your journey! 💛✨
