### 4/5 — Some bugs need to be fixed

*2023-07-22*

Love this game but been having some issues lately with my Live Matches freezing up, leaving me unable to play and ending up losing points. I have sent in reports. Currently I can’t even close out the current game and claim my reward.

### 3/5 — Fun but live play issues

*2022-07-12, version 1.04.07*

Fun and addicting game! Motley Fool is still working out some bugs. Live play can be very laggy or not load properly.

### 3/5 — Font size too small

*2021-11-16, version 1.04.07*

I have 20/15 vision, don’t wear glasses, and I finally had to give up on this. Hopefully you can play this game on a desktop (and I am happy to try that) but not on my little iPhone. There’s no setting to make the font bigger. The developers thought to allow colorblind settings but no way to make the font bigger. If you can read everything without straining your eyes congratulations because it looks like it could be a fun game, but I had to give up.

### 4/5 — Missing

*2021-01-06, version 1.03.11*

Extremely fun & absolutely love this game. It’s early on and needs a few installments. Truly addictive game play. I will update rating & review in coming months. A connection like Facebook or something to play with friends would be nice. The friends of my phone book meh. Better to see who else is playing. I still get matched up with some people that haven’t played in days and days. Waited almost 3 days for players to join matches. I took the Loss by forfeiting unfortunately. Started new matches and was paired up just fine. Great game overall

**Developer response:** Thanks for the review! Please let us know if you find any bugs by emailing us at investorisland@fool.com or using the issue reporting system in the main menu.

### 3/5 — Cool down

*2020-09-16, version 1.03.04*

Great game great concept but the cool down is not needed instead of every stock having the same cool down how about it depends on the level of the stock

### 4/5 — It is kind of hard

*2020-09-07, version 1.03.04*

It is kind of hard. To hard

### 5/5 — Fun and easy to learn

*2020-08-15, version 1.03.04*

Great way to learn the names of the market.

### 4/5 — Great Fun

*2020-08-04, version 1.03.04*

Great fun. Please make it easier to login. Save user, etc. Face ID would e awesome.

Thanks for the product. Love learning games

### 5/5 — Very exciting game

*2020-07-31, version 1.03.04*

I like that you can play multiple player at your own pace.

### 4/5 — Great for learning and having fun!

*2020-07-02, version 1.03.02*

I just downloaded this game yesterday, and I have to say, it’s a great way to learn about investing and have fun simultaneously! I enjoy battling various companies in hopes of watching them annihilate (great feature)! What I’d like to see, however, is an option to choose a map, rather than have the game choose randomly (unless the option is hidden somewhere). Otherwise, outstanding game!

**Developer response:** Hello! Thanks for the positive review and we appreciate the feedback about choosing your map. We've had other players mention this same feature. We definitely plan on add more options to customize new matches in the future.

### 5/5 — Fix this and perfection

*2020-05-23, version 1.03.01*

This game can be like a chess match one minute and shoots and ladders the next. The developers were super original with the concept but there is one thing that needs to be fixed. The 2 day cool down after using a stock in battle should be limited to 1 day. Otherwise I play a few rounds and I’ve used almost all of my stocks and have to wait a while to use them again. Please fix this so we all can play more often.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the review and glad you're enjoying the game. Also thanks for the feedback regarding cooldowns. We have cooldowns in place mainly to prevent players from using the same stocks over and over again. As you continue to play, you'll unlock more stocks and have more options for games. All that said, we'll keep your feedback in mind for future versions.

### 5/5 — Love it

*2020-05-08, version 1.02.17*

Keeps me up to date on the market and is fun. ,!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Complete disappointment

*2022-04-24, version 1.04.07*

Don’t bother. This game is a huge waste of valuable time you can spend doing something else. Friend links do not work not the links fault but the apps. The app simply won’t open so you can play or fails to send the link. And the 1v1 play just doesn’t work as they intended the player simply will just go once a day drawing the gameplay out excruciatingly which is fine if that’s what you want but it’s not what I want

### 1/5 — Crappy software

*2021-04-04, version 1.04.02*

I have played for several months and now as my level gets higher, I have increasingly had problems with program throwing me out back to iOS. I am now spending more time trying to circumvent errors in the program than playing the game. Have made constant suggestions via bug reports but no help. Grrrr!

### 1/5 — Too Random, ruins strategy, Pay to Play

*2020-09-08*

A part of this game is “pay to play”. So if you spend the money on gold and load up on stocks/perks you gain advantage. You don’t have to do this but it makes it harder if you don’t.

Secondly, the opponent matching scheme is deeply flawed. I was frequently put up against players rated higher than me, not just one but in some cases three levels higher. Can’t really compete in those situations, they just have more upgrades to the stocks and more perks.

Third, when you lose against a stronger opponent your ranking suffers. So it’s really hard to climb the ladder (see pay to play comment above).

Fourth, I understand why they want the stock market as part of this given it is the Motley Fool, but it ruins the game IMO. Despite the best strategy, you can still lose just because someone’s choice of stocks outperforms your selection. Also your selection of available stock is limited by your ranking which is difficult to climb unless you pay to play.

So, after six months of seeing if this could be the strategy game for me, I’ve deleted it. It came after I lost a game, where despite a great strategy (I had the lead throughout and was poised to win) the opponents stocks lit up and mine fell apart in the final three turns. Takes the fun out of it when you play perfectly but still lose.

Take the randomness out of it and make it a one time purchase and I might have bought it. It’s a fun game, well put together and the strategy aspects are sounds. But too random and pay to play ruins it overall. Plus they don’t respond to your in game comments to the support team, at all.

**Developer response:** We really appreciate your time and this feedback -- you make a number of valid points. I can say that we're continually balancing perks and we have some improvements to the matching system coming soon that should make the pairings more fair and allow you to climb the ladder, get more stocks and more perks! Also apologies if we missed your support request, we try to get to them all, but occasionally miss a few. If you want to drop us a note at investorisland@fool.com, I'd be glad to answer any questions.

### 1/5 — Stupid game

*2020-08-01, version 1.03.04*

As a stock market investor, I respect the Motley Fool forums and service. I was hoping to play this game to improve my stock skills and have some fun.

But basically this game has nothing to do with the stock market. On top of that irritating music.

### 1/5 — Like all games nw days pay to win

*2020-07-31, version 1.03.04*

Almost loved the game until I had to play online cheaters. Real fun getting rolled by lame online cheaters. Should match according to lvl not have to play losers from the lesser board. Stupid game.

### 1/5 — Robot always more powerful than you

*2020-01-16, version 1.02.07*

I spent a few days addicted to this game. Researching the best stocks to play for each level based on how they did during the year that was set, earning points, leveling up, trying different strategies, etc. However, the game is FAR too hard. The robot gets way more moves than you every round so it is not an even match. They also win the “advancing time” race 9 times out of 10 so you don’t get enough spells, you never have enough cards to upgrade and that parts extremely confusing anyway. The most frustrating part is how many more gems the robot has than you to make way more moves AND cuts through your pawns and destroy your temples like butter. I usually like a “Hard” setting so its challenging, but this is absurd.

**Developer response:** Sorry to hear about your experience! In one-on-one matches, both players start each turn (except for the very first turn) with an equal number of gems, plus whatever gems their stocks have earned between turns. It sounds like the AI picked some high-performing stocks, which can definitely make the match more challenging! However, the AI's stock choices are partly random, so it won't always have the best stocks for the year. If you haven't tried ranked duels yet, those are a great way to level up and upgrade your stocks, because the rewards are much greater, win or lose!

### 1/5 — Can’t get into the game

*2019-10-14*

I downloaded it and then it got to the loading screen but it never loaded.

**Developer response:** Hi! Thanks for giving Investor Island a try. The game does require a network connection and may require a restart of the app if it doesn't probably establish a connection. Though it could be something else. We would be glad to help you troubleshoot this issue if you have the time. Just drop a request here: https://investorisland.fool.com/support Thanks again.

### 2/5 — Used to be good, very buggy now

*2023-02-03, version 1.04.07*

The concept is great, the game is really fun, but the game is just unsupported and very buggy now. Have had multiple games crash in the middle and have been unable to rejoin them. Just had all of my games completely disappear out of nowhere too.

Additionally, seems like no one really plays it anymore, I get matched with the same person every game.

### 2/5 — Needs Work

*2020-09-15, version 1.03.04*

Needs a lot of work, I had very high hopes, but maybe it will eventually get there.

### 2/5 — Robots win unless you pay to upgrade

*2020-07-18, version 1.03.03*

Fun game but you have to eventually pay to upgrade your stocks to win against the system. Of course it’s not for Motley Fool customers to have fun, rather it’s for Motley Fool to make more money. I guess you can’t fault them for that.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

It’s nice to play a game that doesn’t constantly want you to spend money

*2021-10-26, version 1.04.07*

This game just gets better and better and I learn a lot

### 5/5 — Educational Purposes

Highly Appreciate This Opportunity’s

### 5/5 — Help!

*2021-01-17, version 1.03.12*

Help! Please! I am addicted! I love the game, but I don’t know if I missed something. I can’t seem to get past level50 and my perk tree is maxed out- are you updating the game with more levels? Please hurry cause I want to continue destroying the demonbot

### 5/5 — Fun Game

*2020-12-05, version 1.03.10*

I’m a member of Motley Fool and their advice is priceless. This game is fun while learning about the stock market. Hoping my teenagers will play.

### 5/5 — Great concept

*2020-11-07, version 1.03.07*

Love that it doesn’t flood me with ads and teaches me about reinvesting

### 5/5 — Fabulously intelligent game, a blend of stocks and chess

*2020-10-30, version 1.03.07*

I am 39 and an active long-term investor. I listen to Motley Fool podcast on a daily basis on my commute, which is where I first heard about this game. I had so much fun that I got my seven-year-old son playing as well! He is learning about investing in stocks through this game and I couldn’t be more ecstatic!

### 5/5 — Great

*2020-08-31*

A little addictive it’s that good

### 5/5 — Great Game!

*2020-08-22, version 1.03.04*

Very fun and addictive to play. You need some strategic thinking to win, which is the kind of game I really enjoy. Also as a side effect you get to learn something about the stock market.

One feature I hope developer can add is the ability to pause the game while watching a replay.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback and glad you like the game. We've added your request to our backlog.
