Once you’ve spent a bit of time setting up your preferences and understanding the information iOB displays, we hope it’ll prove to be a valuable tool in making decisions on when and how much insulin to take. You can record both long acting (basal) and short acting (bolus) doses, and schedule notifications to remind you when the injections were taken, when they're going to expire and even schedule a dose for sometime in the future. Entries can be saved to the iPhone’s calendar and you can call up a report to show average doses that have been recorded. iOB is meant to help you work out how much insulin you have on-board and avoid stacking your insulin too much or knowing what kind of ‘top-up’ you could need. If you don’t understand insulin on-board or splitting doses please talk you your diabetic clinic or diabetes specialist nurse before using this app. ** iOB is not intended as a way to recommend how much insulin to take, only help you come to a decision. Being able to have a notification when to eat and manage multiple bolus meal situations makes this a must have. ### 5/5 — Fabulous, but needs clearer instructions *2025-06-01, version 1.510* 1. This is a fantastic app for calculating IOB and is ideal for split doses - pizza tonight anyone? 😀 2. I particularly like the visual display. 3. Interface was not obvious to me (and few instructions) so it took a while to play around. Almost gave this 4*, but app is so, so useful (and cheap at 99p)! 4. Not for newly diagnosed a experience of insulin required. Is it literally the only app that gives MDI diabetics the basic metric that every pump user has? Yep. For the life of me, I can’t figure out how to delete that dose. I’ve read the whole manual… but don’t see this info. This app is critical in supporting a diabetic’s management of fast acting insulin injections. With responsible use of the app it will help prevent crashes from insulin stacking! Better than writing notes! Way better. Although, I have noticed one significant glitch. This issues will occur randomly. After user input has been made, at times the inputs will simply vanish and al records of the most recent insulin on board will go blank! Unless you can recall your last inject exactly you’re SOL. I was about to give a dose so entered it as my short term insulin But realized I left my needles at home So wanted to cancel, but couldn’t I played around to figure this out and ended up doubling the entered amount! Then today I wanted to retroactively enter yesterday’s dose of Lantus But once entered, cannot change the dosage time So yes The IOB calculation is correct but ultimately useless if you make any mistake ### 1/5 — Great Idea But Not Blind Friendly *2023-02-26* I really like the idea for this app. Unfortunately, it seems like it is not accessible with voiceover. I can swipe through and add my preferences like long lasting and short acting insulin types. but couldn’t get to any buttons that allowed me to log in my doses.
