### 4/5 — Good upgrade but still could be improved

*2025-04-05*

Nice upgrade from old version. Seems quicker. Do wish the actual system status was displayed on main page. It says mode but I have to drill down to see if system is actually operating. Would be nice if it would show if heat or ac was running. Also for some reason the forecast can be messed up for my address. May show 40 degrees when it is actually 72 as example.

### 4/5 — Before Update I gave a 4 star

*2025-03-28*

Since the update nothing is working. Taking minutes to login not seconds. Updated the wall unit still no better. Yes, they are on the same network. I have been over an hour trying to open the app with my heat pump info. It logs me in but that’s it.

### 4/5 — Love the app but..

*2025-02-28, version 1.8.11*

Everything works as intended however I wonder where the outside temperature comes from. For example: it’s now 63 degrees F and the app says 47 degrees.
I can’t find a way to correct this.

### 2/5 — Loses Connection To Star

*2025-02-28, version 1.8.11*

Probably the stats fault but it’s annoying as piss. The stat somehow loses connection to the app. When it does you can’t tell, and you have to go on the stat itself to reconnect. Also we need more comfort profile settings.

### 4/5 — Works well

*2025-02-15, version 1.8.10*

Good app overall, but it crashes after changing apps recently.

### 4/5 — Great App…

*2025-02-09, version 1.8.9*

The app works great and is user friendly. A lot of options for programming for comfort.

Wish it worked with Google Home! And would be nice if I could see Outside and Inside Humidity % on main screen.

### 2/5 — Home nightmare

*2025-01-25*

I was so excited about this app and what it proposed to do. It falls way short of its claims. The updates are constantly regarding bug fixes yet those pesky bugs never get fixed. My system constantly tells me my wall unit is offline and that I am not connected to WiFi when in fact I am connected. I spent an hour on the phone with tech support trying to get my wall unit to work. She got the wall unit to connect and told me how to reset the unit myself. This is so frustrating. I have done the reset of the wall unit MANY times only to have it go offline constantly. Is there an extermination bug fix that you can do?

### 4/5 — Works as expected.

*2025-01-01*

Overall it’s a good app with nice features. However, Since iOS 18 it seems to freeze when switching between apps like if I don’t close the ion app, switch to something else then go back it’s unresponsive. I have to close the app and reopen it.

One more thing to note. A nice feature request would be to update it to show which system is running. On the thermostat it shows gas or heat pump heating. It would be nice to have that displayed on the app as well. Other than that it’s a good app.

**Developer response:** Dear bluWater babo0n,Thank you for bringing this to our attention! To assist you better, could you please elaborate on the issues and provide a screen recording/screenshot along with your username and send it to us at resdigital@carrier.com. ### 4/5 — Ion thermostat

*2024-12-17, version 1.8.6*

The weather part of the app stopped working other that it does respond good and function well.

### 2/5 — Terrible software updates

*2024-12-15, version 1.8.6*

Your last update broke my connection to the internet making online access impossible. Where is your QC?

### 2/5 — Love the system, not the app

*2024-12-11*

While I love my system, the company needs to scrap the thermostat/app requirement and let people use what they want. Being captive to software that’s well behind the competition and hardware that can’t remain connected to servers is extremely frustrating for a system that cost thousands of dollars. Love the system but desperately miss my Nest thermostat, its ease of use, ability to connect to Alexa without disabling the app requiring a system shutdown to correct, and its monthly statistics.

I wish I would’ve selected the mid-level HVAC system instead of this higher rated system simply because I could’ve avoided this Ion interface.

### 2/5 — No HomeKit integration, no smart sensors

*2024-12-09, version 1.8.6*

Here it is end of 2024 and there’s still no HomeKit integration despite this being promised to be on the roadmap in comments from MFR here many moons ago 🤷🏼‍♂️. Still no smart sensor integration, unlike ecobee.

### 1/5 — Not smart at all

*2024-06-13*

ComfortMaker system purchased in 2020. It worked great, until it didn’t. We have already had to replace the thermostat. You apparently can’t get a different model or switch to an old school thermostat. Ion is power cycling the AC every 7 minutes. The dealer we bought our ac/furnace from sold his company and the new owner was less than helpful. We called another company out but they didn’t have the contract with Ion so another company came out multiple times and finally replaced the thermostat but the unit is still power cycling. This has been going on since 9/3/23… Buyer Beware! I expected more than 2 years and 9 months when purchased.

### 1/5 — Controls

*2024-05-20, version 1.7.15*

I can’t remember my username and password and can’t get into my account to login and it won’t let me login or change it ,so I can’t even turn on my air conditioning unit, so as far as I’m concerned you’re controlling unit and your tech support is absolutely useless!!!🤬🤬🤬🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻

### 1/5 — HomeKit Feature availability? H&L outdoor temps on Home Screen

*2024-04-22*

It’s already 1/4 into the year and we haven’t heard anything from ICC about HomeKit availability for this thermostat. Previously, it was written here that it is on the roadmap, so is it 2024??! 4.56 on the wall control was released today, and zero release notes to be found! 🤷🏼‍♂️

The home screen where it shows the outdoor weather should show both the high and the low for the day!

**Developer response:** Dear Libertyforall, Thank you for your response! We have noted your feedback and communicated to the concerned team . If you still need any assistance, please reach us at resdigital@carrier.com

### 1/5 — Difficult Setup and App

*2025-02-24*

This ION thermostat was difficult to set up and the installer tech was unfamiliar with how to set it up to get the app for the iPhone. I phoned ION tech support then and they helped somewhat, but after I got the app from the App Store, I was eventually able to learn how to manage it. My only wish is that the app would have a setting to turn OFF the Scheduled Settings. Currently, there is no way to do this that I can determine. The only way I can control my settings at night is to turn the unit OFF at night with the app. Then, I need to turn the unit back On in the morning. Otherwise it would continue on with the scheduled settings throughout the night when it is not needed, as we would be too hot underneath the covers.

### 1/5 — Update loses data

*2025-02-13, version 1.8.10*

Updated this app and now it says my home has no devices. When I try to add my device back in using the QR code, it requires me to name it, and then rejects every name I try with an error about an empty string and cannot proceed further.

### 1/5 — Won’t connect after update

*2025-02-13, version 1.8.10*

Since updating to 1.8.10, app cannot connect to my home thermostats. Ion support website seems down as well.

### 1/5 — Ion Controller.

*2025-02-08, version 1.8.9*

Ion controller never stays connected to the server! Sooooo aggravating!

### 1/5 — Disappointing

*2025-01-31*

When the old app is replaced with a new one you expect there will be an improvement. Sorry to inform you but this was very disappointing! I see no improvement extreamly disappointing!

### 1/5 — Stops Working

*2025-01-23, version 1.8.8*

With the new update app stops working. I must remove from memory and restart to get it to work. Next time I return to the app it is not working again. I have the latest iOS.

### 1/5 — Archaic

*2025-01-17, version 1.8.6*

This app is so disappointing. I regret that I am lock into it. It locks up all the time and compared to eero and Honeywell it is just bare minimum functionality. How could it be that has two days of energy usage tracking and no support for remote sensors.

### 1/5 — Freezes every time I use the app. No clear support path.

*2025-01-16*

The app is ok from a user experience perspective. It’s not great, but it is usable. It is different from the wall panel interface, so you do have to learn a new interface. Honestly, I don’t love either one of them.

However, with a recent iOS update, the app freezes literally every time I make a change to the temperature, or switch apps and come back. It’s maddening. I’ve restarted my phone, I have reinstalled the app, and the issue persists. I tried to click app support from the App Store, and there’s no clear path on how to actually get help and resolve the problem. As it stands right now, the app is basically unusable and I am frustrated. Ion team, please help.

### 1/5 — Worst apps

*2024-12-09, version 1.8.6*

Do Not Buy This Unit otherwise you will be spending more money on the electric bills because if you’re outside at work thinking you changed the temperature but on the other end it will no response
Apps never works with thermostats to control, Schedule never works.
They should name it HellMaker

### 1/5 — Email field suddenly not valid

*2024-12-09, version 1.8.6*

Update today messed up the email field. When I enter my email correctly, it says it’s not a valid email format. I can log in online through a browser, so this is 100% an app issue.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Everything working as should right now

*2025-02-05, version 1.8.9*

2/5/2025/- notifications are now working again.

Notification emails are not working. They were working fine before the last couple updates.

### 5/5 — Review we

*2025-01-23, version 1.8.8*

Nice and easy to use and similar with the app.

We heat with natural gas and wood and when the system is set to fan only for the wood I would like to see the option of having the furnace cut in automatically until up to temp and the cut off and continue with fan only.

Right now I have to manually switch between the 2 options. Very annoying.

Thanks and take care.

### 5/5 — Works as described

*2024-08-29, version 1.8.4*

Would love to have a feature that allows the fan to run in a circulate mode. Some will run 20 minutes an hour.

Thank you for your consideration.

### 5/5 — Excellent remote control

*2024-06-17, version 1.8.3*

The ION installation and the app are closely coupled making local and remote access seamless and convenient.

### 5/5 — Excellent remote control

*2024-06-05*

The app is as or more convenient than using the thermostat directly. Best is the ability to monitor and control while conducting service or while away.

### 5/5 — Bugs in system

*2023-06-23*

Most of the bugs of the new app have been worked out for me (filter life, system connectivity). The problem that still needs worked out currently is app not changing temp on heat setting, works fine on cooling setting.

### 5/5 — Later

*2023-02-22, version 1.4.5*

Later

### 5/5 — Temperature Wars

*2023-01-16*

This app has finally made the ongoing temperature war between my husband and I much easier to dominate! When he turns the heat up on his way to bed I can nonchalantly roll over and turn it back down before he’s even out of the bathroom and without leaving my bed. It has made my life much easier and the temp war is secretly a thing of the past because he doesn’t even notice that I’ve won… I’ve WON! Muahahaha

### 5/5 — Finally

*2022-12-17*

It looks like they have fixed the glitches from the last software update. Which is more user-friendly. Thank you.

### 5/5 — FIXED

*2022-08-28*

I complained earlier about having to log in each time I used the app. Well to my surprise it seems to be fixed. Thank you for addressing my concerns. The app works well for what I use it for.
