Ionaut is a free companion for radio amateurs — the whole shack in one app, with no account, no ads and no tracking. PROPAGATION & SPACE WEATHER - Real VOACAP forecasts, band by band and hour by hour, from your QTH to any continent or a specific callsign - Live space weather from NOAA (solar flux, K-index, solar wind, X-ray) - D-layer absorption (D-RAP), a live ionosonde (foF2/MUF, GIRO), history graphs and solar images (SDO/SOHO) DX & ACTIVITY - Live spots (PSK Reporter) and the worldwide DX cluster - Watcher: push alerts on a DX-cluster match - Callsign lookup — country, zone and callbook SKY - Satellite passes incl. The DX forecast then computes for your station instead of a sample dipole, and you see how much power reaches the antenna. - The QSO entry answers while you type: bearing, distance, locator from the callbook, and whether the entity, band or mode is new to you. - Scorecard from your own log: how often the forecast said closed while you were making contacts. - The history charts now tell you whether a value is unusual. Fixed - The band plan showed frequencies with a German decimal comma in every language. - Satellite alerts did not name the satellite in five languages. - Nineteen texts in the sun and moon module were English only. - Many smaller corrections to units, dates and labels. ### 1.4 — 2026-08-30 Learning to send. The CW trainer now works both ways. Straight key or paddle (Iambic A/B, sides swappable), sidetone with soft edges. The app reads your rhythm back and tells you what is wrong with the timing: dash-to-dot ratio, spacing inside a character, between characters, between words. If your dots vary in length it says so first — until they steady, nothing else means anything. Repeaters: India. 57 repeaters, by kind permission of Jose Jacob, VU2JOS. There are no coordinates yet, so they appear in the list but not on the map, and the app says so instead of inventing a location. New country list: what is on file per country, which bands, how many entries have no position. The map now loads whatever is on screen, instead of only your surroundings. Watcher with HamAlert. This adds the Reverse Beacon Network, SOTAwatch, POTA and PSK Reporter. No password involved: you get an address and paste it into HamAlert under Destinations → URL notifications. Alerts now name their source and no longer depend on your device language. Tropo ducting map. Nine regions to choose from. Fixed: it crashed over North America, the Caribbean and South America, and Europe was stretched across the globe. The map is much easier to read. DXCC. Beam headings, cluster, callsign lookup, map and log search now know all 341 entities instead of 109. ### 1.3 — 2026-08-10 Sporadic-E — new module Shows where Es clouds are standing right now. Three readings sit side by side and are deliberately not stirred into a single number, because they say different things: what was actually reported in the past hour, what the ionosondes measure, and what the season would lead you to expect. Real reports beat any calculation — the sonde only decides where nobody has been on the air. Reports on 2 m and 4 m only count as Sporadic-E if a 6 m cloud stands at the same place and time. An E layer that carries 144 MHz carries 50 MHz easily; the reverse does not follow. On 10 m the result is cross-checked against the F2 layer, so an F2 opening is not mistaken for Sporadic-E. Formula reference in the calculator The official German formula reference for the amateur radio examination, complete and properly typeset rather than photographed: fractions as fractions, roots with a radical bar, subscripts where they belong. Widgets rebuilt Every view has been redesigned from scratch and now follows one shared layout. New: Sporadic-E with a radar view centred on your own location, and a DX view showing every world region at once, sorted by where you can reach right now. Space weather gives the space to the bands instead of two bare numbers, and Grayline draws a 24-hour day/night strip. Large widgets are supported for the first time. DX cluster with history The spot list used to reach back about twenty minutes. It now covers close to three hours. Licence classes The per-country notes have been reviewed and tidied, and the English texts are now complete rather than patchy. Albania had the wrong unit on 40 m (MHz instead of kHz) — corrected. Also - iPad: world map in the correct aspect ratio, time axis no longer wraps - Translations refreshed across all 44 languages - Many labels made consistent ### 1.2 — 2026-07-30 D-STAR live — who is transmitting worldwide right now, via which repeater and for how long. With your own record for your callsign and four distinguishable reasons for "I cannot see myself". Conditions watcher — tell me when 20 m opens to Japan. Eight destinations, band selectable, two sensitivity levels. EME windows — the next five usable lunar windows instead of just "now". With a partner station, only the shared time counts. Grey-zone planner — 48 hours ahead: grey zone at your end, at the target, darkness over both ends. Eclipse sequence at your own location, an arithmetic module for the licence exam, a customisable home screen, a solar flare warning in the DX forecast, and an EME widget. Space weather now draws on several independent sources, so a single outage no longer takes the module down. Every value shows where it came from and how old it is.
