## What is IONOS HiDrive?

As an IONOS Hosting customer, you can use this application to access all your files in the IONOS HiDrive from your mobile device.

The automatic camera upload allows you to automatically back up new recordings and albums from the device to your online storage. Note: The IONOS HiDrive app must be active for this.

With the integrated document scanner you can easily scan documents with your iPhone or iPad and save them as PDF in 1&1 IONOS HiDrive.

With device backup, you can now store your photos, videos and contacts on a device in IONOS HiDrive. If necessary, you can easily restore these backups.

With end-to-end encryption you make your data secure against unauthorized access. The encryption is created on your Windows HiDrive software and can be transferred by simple scanning via QR code.

Im Großen und Ganzen ganz vernünftig, sowohl auf dem iPhone als auch auf dem iPad. Wie schon von anderen Rezensenten angemerkt, fehlen halt einige Funktionen. Beispielsweise PDF Annotation oder eine vernünftige Diashow und etwas detailliertere Unterstützung für EXIF, insbesondere GPS.

Die App tut, was sie soll, kommt allerdings etwas „altmodisch“ daher. Das Design könnte schlichter, weniger überladen, mehr an Apples Dateien-App angelehnt sein. Das Teilen von Dateien über das Share-Sheet sollte einfacher möglich sein. Und da ich in meinem Fall der einzige Benutzer bin, muss ich mich immer zuerst durch die übergeordneten Ordner hangeln, bis ich mal in meinem Benutzerordner rauskomme. Hier wäre eine Option schön, um den „Einstiegsordner“, sozusagen den Root, in den Einstellungen festzulegen. Gerne noch ein modernes, emblematischeres App-Icon mit Ordnersymbol und die Sache läuft…
Ansonsten gerade jetzt natürlich sehr unterstützenswert, Dateien lieber auf deutschen Servern sicher abzulegen als in den USA.

Eine übergeordnete Suchfunktion gibt es seit Jahren nicht. Immer wieder muss ich umständlich zurückspringen. Die Unterstützung vom Apple Stift ist seit jeher nicht gegeben. Wann wird der Apple Pencil endlich unterstützt? Das ist nervig, wenn man eine Bemerkung in ein PDF schreiben möchte. Immer wieder muss ich auf andere Programme umsteigen, was sehr umständlich ist. Dafür, dass die Cloud ziemlich viel Geld kostet ist dieser Service sehr schlecht. Mehrfach hatte ich mich auch direkt an Ionos gewendet, allerdings ohne Erfolg. Ich hoffe, dass es bald verbessert wird. iPad Pro 2022.

Leider ist es nicht möglich eigene Aufnahmen die größer als 2GB sind sichern. Ich habe mehrere Videos mit dem iPhone 15 Pro Max gemacht die ich nicht sichern kann. Diese Cloud Lösung ist nichts für mich.

Daten verschwinden aus dem Webdav-Bereich über Nacht. Kann man zwar mit dem Backup wieder herstellen, aber das Vertrauen leidet da doch schon arg.
Beim Öffnen von Bilder in der Quick GoPro App schmiert die HiDriveApp auch immer wieder mal ab.
Wie gesagt: Das Konzept ist gut, aber es ist noch ein langer Weg bis zu einer Dropbox vergleichbaren Qualität.
