Useless app now. *2026-04-16* I have an HAE29EC. A previous version allowed me to control the app with my iPhone or iPad, using the built-in Wi-Fi network. It would feed date time and location to the mount. After app update, the app does not even recognize the amount when it is connected to it via the mount’s Wi-Fi, none of the features are available, half the prompts are in Chinese, and I can’t find a single useful function in this app. Please take this complete trash off the App Store and restore the previous useful version… Show it as a version update so we can regain usefulness. ### 1/5 — Schrott App *2025-12-29* Diese App ist einfach nur Müll. Wenn keine Besserung eintrifft bleibt mir nur eines übrig die Montierung zu verkaufen. Danke Ioptron😩 ### 1/5 — Katastrophe *2025-12-27* Diese Version ist vollkommen für den Müll. Es ist nicht mehr möglich eine Verbindung zur Handsteuerung herzustellen. Mit der alten Version lief alles problemlos, habe jetzt seit längerem wieder versucht direkt ohne die Zwo Kamera mit dem Commander zu arbeiten. When it starts it shows the arrow controls but settings and all the other buttons are not working. I can’t control my mount anymore. This is the worst update in the history of smartphone updates. A totally useless App. Makes me ditch ioptron altogether. I can’t control my mount anymore. ### 1/5 — Horrible app. Utterly Useless *2025-11-04* So sorry to be so blunt, but while other astro vendors build well tuned apps, with great user interface, that are intuitive and actually work, this app, and especially this latest major update, is completely useless, impossible to understand, location settings don’t reflect real location, settings are not saved, confusing acronyms, text displayed in chines in places, which makes no sense, click on certain options does nothing, no in app feedback showing a change tool effect etc…incredibly disappointing considering the high cost of ioptron mounts!!!! ### 1/5 — Does not work - Big fail *2025-11-04* The old APP was much better. This app does not work properly with my HAE43 mount. Buttons do not react. Please bring back old app!!!!!! ### 1/5 — Non-functional *2025-10-31* No idea what has happened to this once useful app. Under IOS26 it appears to be non-functional. None of the settings work, no targets available, no reticule, no connectivity to my iOptron mounts. I’ve deleted and re-installed the app but this has made no difference to the outcome. Right now it’s completely junk on my iPad. If it’s not fixed it’s going to be deleted. ### 1/5 — Application is bricked *2025-10-30* 2025_10_29 I set up the SkyHunter in EQ mode to track Comet A6 Lemmon. iOptron Commander had to be redownloaded and the new update reverted to Version 1.0. Very primitive and mostly non functional. I am very disappointed. ## Most praised reviews (3 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Works Great, would be even greater if you could add the following: *2023-01-22* This app is a great way for controlling my mount quickly and easily via its wifi network when at remote locations. It works in both English and Chinese. It is fast. Request: 1) add the ability to connect to my home network and connect to my mount which is already connected to my home network. 2) add a PARK mount button. Thank you. ### 3/5 — Text bug *2022-08-16* The app isn’t bad and responds quickly but not only does the text switch from English to what I presume is Chinese but the app also doesn’t work unless you sync your time and location every time you connect to the mount. ### 2/5 — Sometimes works *2026-07-13* I use this with a StarHunter and it only sometimes works. There is no feedback that it is connected. The buttons don’t even fit on the screen. If I get version info from it over WiFi that doesn’t mean the buttons will have any response or result. Their handsets work great, but phones are what people use now. IOptron makes great hardware that I have been using for years, but their apps are poor. Since they are basically WiFi or USB devices it should be easy to write software that works. Especially in the modern world of software development.
