This app is 3 years outdated. The scanner for scratch tickets doesn’t work. Someone said in the comments that it is nice to check actual numbers but I feel like this is a waste of app space on my phone. I see why I had originally deleted it and will be doing so again. The easy slip would require you to hand the phone back and forth to the worker each and every time you used it. Camera is blurry. Probably over five years now at least that I know of. Stop prioritizing releasing updates for whatever current events you have going on and take the time to fix your unusable, non-intuitive, non-user-friendly app. Give your software engineers capacity to work on what needs to be worked on, which is very obviously tech debt. I feel bad because I am a software engineer and I know someone worked hard on this application, but the fact that it’s practically unusable for one of the main things that users will likely use it for makes it useless. Make it a top priority to fix the ticket scanner and whatever other major issues are being reported by users. I think this feature will be very beneficial to all users who purchased tickets with multiple drawing dates. Add something where you can scan the ticket in, and it remembers that ticket. If you win, it sends you a push notification. 2. An option to purchase tickets digitally in the app. I understand this one might be a little bit harder to implement due to legal concerns, the main one being underage people buying tickets. However, this could be overcome by implementing ID verification. For example, users could scan their ID card and take a picture of their face. These are the features I would like to see added. I have worked in app development for years, so I know adding these is possible. However, if the development team reads this, I would like to hear their reasoning as to why these features would not be added. ### 5/5 — It’s a 5 start for me *2022-12-11, version 2.0.1* I’m not sure why there’s so many low star ratings. I find it to be an excellent app. Not only can I scan my scratch offs to double check if they are winners or not and there’s been a few times I have overlooked something and actually had a winner. But I can sync it with other reward apps like Kwik Star and each month Iowa lottery sends out a newsletter there’s a free $2 lottery ticket that I can redeem at Kwik Star. And my none winning scratch offs I can enter for another chance to win. On top of pop up games throughout each month. So this app definitely gets 5 stars from me. 🤩 ### 5/5 — Can’t scan tickets? *2022-01-06, version 2.0.0* Here’s my fix: Like everyone else has mentioned, when I tap the scan tickets button, the screen just cycles back around to itself. It was frustrating! In fact, I started writing this review when I decided to check my settings first, to be sure that wasn’t the issue. It was! I tapped on “Settings”, then scrolled down and tapped on “IOWA LOTTERY” to see if access to camera was turned on. It wasn’t, in my case. I turned on camera access, reopened the IOWA LOTTERY app, tapped on “CHECK TICKETS” , then “SCAN A TICKET”. BOOM! The camera opened, I scanned my ticket, and low and behold, that old, familiar “NOT A WINNER” was mocking me once again! Junk! ### 5/5 — Great time saver *2014-02-14, version 1.0.37* I have not tried scanning tickets with this app, but it works great for quickly accessing winning numbers. The best thing about this app is the ability to create and save plays. No more messing with those little pencils and forms. If you are someone who likes to choose your own numbers this is a great feature to have. ### 4/5 — Great way to check tickets *2019-08-15* The app now shows amount you won when you scan it. It's easy to enter play it again contests and to see winners for VIP Contests. The only improvement I would suggest to add option to stayed logged in to the VIP Section or add thumbprint scan for password.
