### 2/5 — Ehh not great all purpose

*2026-01-16*

Adding a Public PGP to encrypt isn't easy hence the low review. Other apps it's a simple copy paste, but they aren't capable of modern encryption methods. This one as I understand it is capable of the modern encryption methods but isn't as simplified as the other apps. Forced to use my laptop to do that in the simplified way I can do.

Can't say it isn't possible but it's not friendly to people who aren't super competant (me admittedly.)

I'm sure many of the features work for what it's designed for but given the limited PGP options on iOS this isn't super easy and not worth the money if that's what you're seeking

**Developer response:** You can definitely copy-and-paste your keys and message into the app to be saved and added to the app keyring. If you have issues or questions, follow up with email to info@ipgmail.com
thanks!

### 2/5 — Key Import Issues?

*2025-12-23*

I’ve been having issues recently while attempting to import one of my GPG private keys. Specifically, when importing, I get an error saying “Authentication Failed”. I’m able to do this without fail on a different private key that I generated not that long ago. The only difference between the two is that the first secret key I attempted to import was extended as it expired earlier this year. It works perfectly fine with the GPG software, so wondering if there is an incompatibility with keys which have had their expiration extended? It would be nice if this could be addressed and resolved as I use the app on a regular basis.

**Developer response:** Email support at info@ipgmail.com, if you can recreate the issue with a key that can be shared, it will be easier to diagnose and debug the issue.

### 5/5 — Solid up to date PGP offering

*2025-09-23*

One of the few (it not only) iOS PGP apps that’s kept up to date and the developer was very responsive to a couple of issues I’m having.

### 5/5 — Great PGP option for iPhone

*2025-09-19*

Easy to use interface with import feature

### 5/5 — Great app

*2025-04-17, version 2025.15.2*

Very useful, nice user interface with great support and very helpful developer.

### 5/5 — Solid PGP option for mobile

*2024-12-30*

Easy to use interface

### 5/5 — Excellent, indispensable app...

*2024-11-29*

Very grateful to the talented developer for this little gem. It has become an essential part of my daily workflow. I wish he provided a way for us to tip him regularly, so that he remains motivated to maintain the app. There is nothing like it in the App Store. I hope it will live on for many more years. Thank you, Mr. Ingersoll, for creating high-quality software that respects user privacy, works flawlessly, and has a modern, fluid interface.

### 5/5 — Good PGP App for iOS

*2024-03-15*

Good app and the developer has responded very quickly to a problem. :-)

### 5/5 — Best so far for PGP

*2023-08-21*

Of all the iPhone apps I’ve tested, this is the best one. The keychain can be edited via import (be sure to remove text outside of the markers) and it can encrypt and sign (take that, GPG4USB). Decryption displays verification immediately. The coding seems to be up to par with RFC 4880.

Added bonus:
The developer replied promptly to a request I made.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Refund

*2026-06-27*

Bitte um Zurückerstattung des Kaufpreises. No smtp-configuration ....

### 1/5 — Still broke

*2025-11-07, version 2025.44.1*

Been Broke for some time. OS 26.1 still no joy.

### 1/5 — Latest Update Broke Everything

*2025-09-29*

UPDATE: After reinstalling the all, I’ve discovered that everything is broke, from decrypting files to importing/exporting keys!! I hope the developer fixes this soon. For reference, I’m running the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Normally iPGMail works completely fine, however after installing the most recent update, I can no longer manually type recipients to mail encrypted media too. In addition, the Face ID isn’t working as it should. I have restarted my phone but have yet to reinstall the app. Will try that and report back

**Developer response:** Fix is already available - 2025.40.2

### 1/5 — Deceiving-app is focused only on file encryption, not messaging. Can’t encrypt plain text within app

*2025-05-01, version 2025.15.2*

Waste of money

### 1/5 — Charged me twice for an app I’m not using

*2024-09-09*

Keeps charging me for an app I’m not using / deleted with no way to stop it

**Developer response:** This is not true. The app is not a subscription and does not charge you anything. The app store charges you a flat fee when you initially purchase it.

### 1/5 — Stupidly unclear on how to use the app

*2024-06-14*

It doesn’t generate keys and relies on third parties to do what apps like Flowcrypt does intuitively.

**Developer response:** This is untrue. The app does indeed generate keys. Flowcrypt only provides PGP for gmail. This app is a more general purpose OpenPGP application that can be used with a variety of mail servers or even just to encrypt/decrypt local files on your device (or in the cloud).

### 1/5 — Waste of money

*2024-04-06, version 2024.11.1*

Doesent do anything that it advertised

### 1/5 — Private key password does not work

*2023-11-03*

This app looks decent but the private key password does not work so it's useless to me. Please fix!!!!

### 1/5 — Bugs bugs bugs

*2023-09-20, version 2023.37.1*

This all would be so good but too often the developer updates it and breaks it. So frustrating. I simply cannot rely on this app because one minute it works and the next update breaks it.

### 1/5 — Bad setting

*2023-07-04, version 2023.24.1*

Includes PGP version metadata line in messages even when that option is toggled off in settings, revealing iPhone usage for PGP, a bad OPSEC risk and social hazard online.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Excellent up to date PGP offering

*2026-07-23*

One of the few (it not only) iOS PGP apps that’s kept up to date, and the developer is responsive to reported problems.

### 5/5 — Solid up to date PGP offering

*2026-07-01, version 2026.27.1*

### 5/5 — Works as advertised

*2026-05-31*

This version fixes the concerns I had and seems to work well. Thanks for the prompt response.

**Developer response:** Fixed in version 2026.22.2.

### 5/5 — This version may have a photo selection problem.

*2026-05-28*

If privacy settings on photos indicate “only selected”, it sometimes may not include all the selected file(s) in the sending email. There may be other anomalies. For example some temporary local files were not removed when prompted for removal during clearing and specifying the removal of temporary files. Not sure what triggers this. Having said this, I would still install it since it seems otherwise solid.

**Developer response:** Im not sure which features or fixes you are referring to. Nothing was removed in the last update. Please send email to info@ipgmail.com with specific details and I will address them in a future update.

### 5/5 — This version breaks regression

*2026-05-25*

Many of the latest features and bug fixes previously added were removed with this version. For example some temporary cloud files are no longer prompted for removal when deleting them. Keys have the same potential problem they used to have. I’m surprised that a regression suite is not apparently run.

**Developer response:** Im not sure which features or fixes you are referring to. Nothing was removed in the last update. Please send email to info@ipgmail.com with specific details and I will address them in a future update.
