After playing with both for a few hours, it’s clear they don’t really compliment each other—which is very unfortunate, given they are both amazing apps. I find myself deep in a preset in iDensity and wishing I could get a bit more control over the manipulation of grains, while in iPulserat wishing I could automate my sample-scrubbing. There isn’t a clear, conceptual distinction between the two; and I have a hard time deciding which app to open, since I don’t necessarily know beforehand which of their slightly different features I want, and their preset formats don’t appear to be interchangeable. I would much rather pay extra for one all-encompassing “iDensity Pro” than for an additional app which is only a slight variation of the iDensity concept. Again, though, amazing apps, both of them. Keep up the good work, Mr. Ape! ### 4/5 — A great synth but crashing a lot *2020-05-01* One of my absolute favourite iOS synths but the latest version is crashing a lot, particularly when I try to access the Grain Source. And the interface is incredibly inviting. If you have any interest in granular synthesis, particularly for melodic/harmonic work, this synth is great. ### 5/5 — Excellent New Update *2016-08-20* I have this app from the day one and this is now one super synth. Problem with all granular synths is they are difficult to control or to get sound you want. But this version is very playable and sounds great. It is obvious that Mr. Alessandro works very hard and I say thank you very much for this update. Absolutely essential app. ### 5/5 — One of the best *2016-08-19* This app has been around for a long time. It was great when it came out and the devs were always diligent in maintaining it and improving it over the years. They have several excellent apps with consistent interfaces so if you learn how to use one then the others are a snap to learn too. I really think these apps are amongst the best in their class. Any musician who likes to make cool sounds and tunes that are not necessarily the same boring stuff, will live these apps. ### 5/5 — Amazing Updates Still Coming... *2016-08-19* Useful sounds is what it's about and you can find them with this app. There is a ton of value added in this update. ### 5/5 — Best granular synthesis app. *2016-06-10* Lots of options, intuitive interface, high sound quality, fully midi controllable. ### 5/5 — What a synth *2015-10-18* This is how every synth... No every instrument app should be. It's perfectly balanced between have control over anything and I just see what I need. You can really see how much love there was put in making this synthesizer. It's a very versatile granular synth. It sounds amazing! You can make very melodic things but also very insane noise with it. The in-built fx are extremely good as well. So you can take the output to other apps, but you don't need! Mir fehlt hier noch das synchronisieren von Samplestart und die Funktion, dass man die Abtastung des Samples nach erfolgtem Durchgang auch wieder Rückwärts durchfahren kann. Zum "Abstürzen" der App kann ich folgendes sagen: Wenn die Empfindlichkeit der "Grainamplitude" runter geregelt wird, kann man dadurch das "Clipping" verhindern, das dafür sorgt, dass das Audiosignal eliminiert wird. Alles in allem nur vier Sterne. Würde mich freuen, wenn die von mir angeführten Funktionen noch dazu kommen würden. Eine Anregung für die Entwickler. Just pops up an error saying remove background apps (which I always do when I start audio bus first, everyone knows that) Also no way on the developers site to leave a support ticket. I've got iDensity and it works fine. So it seems I just wasted nine dollars. We’ll see how it works from now on? ### 2/5 — Not impressed *2017-11-28* Took a chance on this in a Black Friday sale, and quickly found this is not an intuitive app. Import from AudioShare simply does not work, and when I did get samples in via the awkward AudioPaste, none of them would load. I own various vst granular synths and this ranks amongst the poorest. I don't think I could use this on a piece. It almost has a bit/res reduction going on. The low pass filter clunks at full cut off. The reverb is poor. Das gibt natürlich Punktabzug! ### 3/5 — Bad performance on iPad 2 *2014-06-11* Was looking forward to using this app as I also have the developers iVCS3 - which is brilliant. However iPulsaret runs badly on my iPad 2, with crackles, glitches, stutters and even a crash - in particular when using the developers own presets via the 'snapshots pad'. It also glitches when running it at the lowest settings via Audiobus and as another reviewer mentioned sound quality isn't great. I'm struggling to create anything sounding as good as the demo video - maybe due to having to run it on the lowest settings. Only (slight) complaint is that the user manual could be better. The app is stellar, beats a lot of vst stuff (ok i still don’t have Crusher X.) C’est en fait une approche très différente qui nécessite d’appréhender l ‘application de façon complètement différente. Finalement c’est très bien fait, fini, léché .... Un vrai plaisir de découverte. Par contre si vous êtes à la recherche d’un ensemble de presets jouables immédiatement, ce synth n’est pas pour vous. Mérite vraiment que l’on passe un peu de temps dessus avant d’en retirer le maximum ... et encore, les possibilités sont telles que ... Quelques plantages néanmoins à signaler. Thanks to Apesoft we have it at the touch of our fingers. Dai drones più cupi ai panorami alieni e in evoluzione con effetti di riverbero ed eco pulitissimi e di grande qualità pro...si ottengono suoni meravigliosi anche solo campionando dal microfono dell'iPad...un'app che mette la voglia di sperimentare e di esplorare sonorità particolari...difficile se non impossibile ottenere così velocemente gli stessi risultati con Hardware...e poi il controllo sul suono é immediato, intuitivo e praticissimo!
