### 4/5 — Almost there

*2026-08-28*

The latest app update has greatly improved things, but a couple more insights into device operation and features would improve the app and device value. Couple of ideas are:

- More granular tuning of flow alerts. Sometimes doing a single load of laundry causes it to alert.

- The ability to drill down into any past week or day to view detailed historical water usage would be useful opposed to just the latest of each.

- An option to automatically actuate the shutoff valve if a flow meeting a criteria occurs would be cool (away/vacation mode).

### 2/5 — Please fix the alerts/notifications feature

*2026-04-19*

This part of the app needs some work. You get notified of issues that you have selected, but you cant clear the notifications. Reading them and clicking ok doesn’t do anything. I have “read” and re-read old alert messages I don’t know how many times and they stay listed as “unread”. Sometimes you get red badges on the icon and sometimes you don’t. I have had one that has been there for nearly a year because I cannot find a way to clear it (even deleting the app doesn’t do it). Let us delete old alerts. I don’t need to see things from over a year ago.

### 4/5 — Motorized control valve

*2026-04-04*

So far, the app is leaving a “something to be desired” taste in my mouth. I don’t write reviews for apps, but this is extremely frustrating.
For starters, the connection method for WiFi , is sketchy and has intermittent connectivity issues. (Despite the router being physically next to the unit in my case and we have 1g cable internet service ) . Lastly, I purchased the corresponding motorized ball valve to close the valve remotely. Installed successfully, with no leaks etc , but no matter what, the app will not recognize the valve. (Former electrician here, and applied low voltage power directly to the valve and proved it is indeed functional). Please advise?

Update April 2026: much better software team ! WiFi control valve works seamlessly now. The features, are now , what I would expect you would get when you purchasing a higher end “smart softener “. Or, if the user, wanted to get “deep” into the control aspect or various parameters. Ultimately, the idea here is to use the product, to the best of its design and intention. Right??

So, I suppose I can’t complain too much about the re-structure or re-vamping of the app. Hope it pays off good fer’ y’all?!
Glad, you listened to your consumers concerns and took action. Bravo Morton. Bravo! (30 year, multiple Morton costumer, and installer)

### 4/5 — Long needed update

*2026-01-27, version 1.4.2*

Finally updated. Much better.

### 3/5 — Notifications

*2026-01-26*

I’m giving this app a 3 star review because you cannot clear notifications once you receive them. Please fix this issue.

### 2/5 — Ver 1.4.2 alert notifications wont clear

*2026-01-04*

Cannot clear the notification badge from app icon on my desktop because alert messages are not getting marked “read” when you go read them. If you get an alert, then go into app and read it, it is still marked unread. My unread alerts are piling up even tho they have all been read. This makes the (1) badge on my app icon always there which is totally irritating. So I have to turn off the badges which kind of defeats half the purpose of having notifications turned on…

Plz address. Ty

### 4/5 — Fixed

*2025-12-13*

I’m revising my review. I trashed the app after the last update because of numerous glitches that made it useless. Those all seem to be fixed. I’m happy now. Please don’t change it again.

### 4/5 — Treated Water Available incorrect

*2025-11-22*

I am so happy this app is finally getting some support. The latest updates are a huge improvement and access to the Status numbers that include water used, days since recharged, etc. is VERY helpful. But the Treated Water Available never changes for me. It always shows 391 gallons regardless of when the system last recharged. This is with a Model Rheem RHW42. Thank you

### 3/5 — Almost there

*2025-11-18*

The latest app update has greatly improved things, but a couple more insights into device operation and features would greatly improve the app and device value. Too many devices are made WiFi connected without adding additional usefulness; adding insights and smarts greatly adds to their value.

Would like to see a regeneration status page including resin capacity currently used along with total resin capacity, and dates/times of prior regenerations. A display for date/time that next regeneration is scheduled would be very useful, displaying estimated date otherwise if one is not yet scheduled.

Please also allow viewing of detailed historical water usage for any specified past day, month, or year; not just the latest of each.

An option to automatically actuate the shutoff valve if a continuous flow has met a specified criteria would also be very useful.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2025-10-31*

They updated the app and now it doesn’t work. It finally recognized my shut off valve but it only shuts off, it won’t reopen the valve, I have to do that manually. It tells me I have a constant water flow problem when I know I don’t. I’ve turned the water to house off at the street and the app still insists water is running. So I can’t trust the alert which makes it useless. I tried adjusting the alert status to be less sensitive but it won’t save, it keeps reverting to .1 gpm. There are setting adjustments with no clear explanation for what they do or why I would want to use them. How do I increase the softness of my water? What is an auxiliary control and how do I know if I have one or want to use it? I tried downloading the app manual and even that doesn’t work. Everything about this is a downgrade.

### 1/5 — Unable to reset password

*2025-10-30*

The keyboard just disappear when copy/pasting in the “create new password” UI… It’s unable also to use the password manager, which would have clearly improved everything…
That’s exceptional software quality management!!! Especially for a broadly released one!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — This app sucks

*2026-05-16, version 1.5.2*

This app completely forgets my log information and won’t let me log back in there is no help support try forget password chooses forget password and won’t send code. Utter garbage.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2026-04-24*

Probably the worst piece of software I have ever used and I started using computers in 1980!
The program is buggy and gives you incorrect information on what your softener is doing. It also omits info that seemingly would be helpful, like when has or will the softener regenerate. Do not make any mistakes setting up your password or your account as recovering will be frustrating and tedious.

### 1/5 — Fails to connect

*2026-04-19, version 1.5.2*

This app loses connection to my Rheem Water Softener every few days after installation. As soon as I delete the app and reinstall it, it works again for a few days and loses connection again. There are no wifi connection issues on the water softner side as it shows up without any issues in Home Assistant. The developer really needs to fix this lame app cache related bug.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2026-04-08, version 1.5.2*

Worked last year then quit. I was told they were having problems with the app it has never worked

### 1/5 — Annoying bugs

*2026-02-26*

Nice to be able to manage my softener from my phone, but it’s annoying because notifications don’t get marked as read when you read them, so I’m always thinking there is a problem.

### 1/5 — Lacks Access to Water Shutoff Vale

*2025-12-20, version 1.4.2*

The new app is so bad. Too gimmicky. Lacks Access to Water Shutoff Vale. Don’t update from the old app until they straighten this out.

### 1/5 — New update is horrible

*2025-11-12*

The new update reset my water softener, I had to go into the app and set the water hardness, set up the water valve (which still isn’t recognized), and do a recharge since I stopped getting soft water. The old app worked perfectly, this new app is horrendous. The reason I got this water softener is because of the wifi/app capability. Now current flow just spins and is not accurate. Really disappointed.

### 1/5 — Poorest update possible!

*2025-11-04*

Can’t fully express my utter disappointment! Old app always worked from the beginning. Why fix what isn’t broken? New app rendered shut off valve inoperable. Customer service say they know it’s broken, don’t have a remedy and no ETA of when it will be fixed. How pitiful! I guess now we just expect untested, unfinished apps to be thrusted on to the public. Not so bad with $15 smart plug; dangerous for $1000 water system that needs to be shut off when leak detected and no one home. Morton, get your act together! No one should ever have to endure this insult when you profess to be top system for home use. Shame on you. You deserve to lose your customers.

### 1/5 — Buggy update

*2025-11-04, version 1.4.1*

The water shut off cable no longer directed past app update. Please fix

### 1/5 — Broken!!!

*2025-11-01, version 1.4.1*

I went to open this app today and my account was gone. I tried to reset my password in order to gain access again but after putting in the reset code and new password (including the matching confirmation password), the button to submit did not work. I tried varying forms of a new password, each time with a new reset code, and no luck.

Rheem: Please lean on this company or find a better one for accessing my water softener.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Usage

*2026-05-11*

I always asked my utilities provider for better usage details. Now I have it. Thank you.

### 5/5 — Timely alerts

*2026-04-04*

I am loving the app, it provides timely alerts on rasin recharge, low salt, and if some tap is open. Current flow rate of water, daily, weekly monthly views are great insights

### 5/5 — Love the smart features but wish it didn’t rely on a remote server they control

*2026-01-06*

I love the smart features and having an app I can use to check things. However, it bothers me that my access to the device is controlled through a remote server iQua controls. I wish there was an option for me to access my device locally. They rate limit the calls pretty hard and that’s a problem I wouldn’t have with local access. This is also something they don’t tell you until you have the device. For those of us in the home automation world, this behavior is really disappointing.

This rate limiting will become a problem for those that use the app and try to pull stats too many times in a short enough duration.

Other than that, I absolutely love the device and the app is super useful. More so, you can set alerts for water flow, low salt levels and yearly cleaning that go to your email. These alerts are super useful! I do wish for iPhones they expand on it and allow it to create reminders, or even just expand it to offer options in the shortcuts app.

Overall, awesome stuff. Just some things I wish they would improve for us more technical people. For the non-technical none of my problems should apply and you’ll all be super happy with the experience.

### 5/5 — Great system

*2026-01-05*

I really love the system with WiFi. It has saved us money be alerting me that we had a water flow issue. Twice o was away and had a pipe freeze and burst. The system alerted me and we got the pipes shut off. I probably should invest in the remote cutoff so I could do it without being on site.

### 5/5 — A real working app

*2025-12-28*

Easy to set up, understand and use.

### 5/5 — Clear interface

*2025-11-15, version 1.4.1*

The new UI is cleaner and easy to read, less clutter. Statistics are easy to read. It is very handy being able to see water consumption rates and estimated days left of salt. Also, when my daughter takes 30 minute showers I get a high water usage alert which is nice.
I have had to reset the wifi once due to the unit not working, other wise it has been fine everyday. Overall very happy with my purchase and the app.

### 5/5 — Homeowner

*2025-11-12*

We were renting Culligan water softener prior to this rheem. It is much easier to manage and our water is softer. We love it.

### 5/5 — love the updated app

*2025-11-10*

I love you guys! There were times I wanted to crawl in a corner and cry myself to sleep using the older version now I can breathe again. So much info now makes me tear up. Night and day difference on the updated app much love appreciate all your work on this! Keep up the good work ❤️

### 5/5 — Control valve no longer works

*2025-10-30*

The latest version of this app has messed up the water shut off control valve. Mine says error with the prompt to hold the recharge for 3sec. This starts a recharge immediately and doesn’t nothing to fix the issue. No my valve is useless please fix this!

### 5/5 — A Gem Among Apps – iQua App Exceeds Expectations

*2024-04-05, version 1.3.1*

After using the iQua app for a solid three months, I'm compelled to share my exceptional experience, which starkly contrasts with some of the issues others have mentioned. First off, I haven't encountered any of the problems highlighted in other reviews. The app's functionality and user interface have been flawless in my experience, making it an invaluable tool for managing my home's water quality.A point of contention for some users has been the app's notifications regarding water flow, which some have mistakenly taken as misreadings. In my case, I've found that whenever the app indicates no water flow, it's not an error but a helpful alert that the salt water tank is bypassing water directly to the house pipes rather than letting it flow through as intended. This feature alone has saved me countless headaches and ensures that my water softening system operates efficiently. While I acknowledge the calls for additional features, and I agree that they would enhance the app's usefulness, it's important to recognize the value that iQua currently offers. It performs exactly as designed, providing crucial insights and controls for water quality management. The app is user-friendly, reliable, and an essential tool for anyone looking to maintain optimal water conditions in their home.To the developers of iQua, I sincerely applaud your efforts. The app is a testament to thoughtful design and a clear understanding of what users need in water quality management technology. The potential for future enhancements is exciting, but as it stands, iQua is a stellar application that has greatly impressed me. Five stars without hesitation!
