### 5/5 — THE Retro Game App

*2026-05-29*

I am a retro game collector with well over 1,000 games and this app is by far the most complete app I’ve seen yet. It’s also very visually pleasing and I’ve been enjoying binging the commercials and trivia which you can find alongside each game as well. Solid UX/feel. <3

### 5/5 — Mystery solved!!

*2026-05-06*

For the past 20 years I’ve been trying to find the name of a game I distinctly remember playing as a kid. No amount of googling helped. I started to think I made it up. But today I opened this app and there it was! Thank you!

If you’re a retro collector you’re going to love all the extras on here like the tv commercials and trivia. (I even spotted some cool Easter eggs) 🧙Great app.

### 5/5 — Nostalgic!

iRetroDex is awesome for anyone who grew up with classic games or just loves retro gaming history. It has huge lists of games across consoles like NES, SNES, Atari, and more, with tons of fun facts and details that make it easy to discover or remember old favorites.

The best part is the nostalgia factor. Being able to see old game commercials from the 90s is such a cool touch and makes the app feel like more than just a database. I also love that I can track my own collection and mark games I played growing up.

Clean, fun, nostalgic, and packed with information. An easy 5 stars for retro game fans.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### v1.16 — 2026-07-14

- Four new systems join the catalog: Sega Master System, Nintendo DS, Atari Lynx, and Xbox 360.
- Pick your region in Settings (or when you first open the app) — games open with that region's edition and box art, and the browse grids show your region's covers wherever they exist.
- Console names follow your region too: set Australia or Europe and Genesis becomes Mega Drive and Sega CD becomes Mega-CD; set Japan and TurboGrafx-16 becomes PC Engine.
- Rarity is now scored per market — see each edition's rarity side by side on the game page, and switch your rarity market in Settings.
- Behind-the-scenes stability improvements.

### v1.15 — 2026-06-21

- Sold or traded a game? You can now mark it as sold to keep a record of it — the new Sold tab tracks every copy you've parted with, each showing what you made or lost on the sale.
- Logging a purchase with a specific edition now fills in its video standard automatically, not just the region.
- Search is smarter — type the words in any order and don't worry about apostrophes, so "mario 2" finds Super Mario Bros. 2 and "kings quest" finds King's Quest.
- Discover keeps the same picks as you move between tabs and only refreshes with a new lineup when you reopen the app.
- Behind-the-scenes stability improvements.

### v1.14 — 2026-06-17

- See prices in your own currency — Retrodex now converts every price to your local currency automatically, and you can switch to any of 30+ currencies in Settings.
- Catalog updates now finish downloading in the background, so new systems and prices land reliably even if you don't keep the app open.
- Gameplay videos now play with sound by default — tap a video to mute it, and you'll be asked once if you'd like them muted from then on.
- Widescreen gameplay videos now fill the player instead of showing black bars.
- TV Flashback clips no longer close when you tap outside the video by accident.
- Behind-the-scenes stability improvements.

### v1.13 — 2026-06-14

- Five new systems! 3DO, Neo Geo Pocket, Neo Geo Pocket Color, TurboGrafx-CD and Atari 5200.
- The full game catalog is now free for everyone — browse every game on every console, with no daily limits.

### v1.12 — 2026-06-12

- Two new systems! TurboGrafx-CD and Atari 5200.
- Box art now displays at the right proportions on every system, so game grids line up cleanly.
