### 2/5 — Time

*2026-02-18*

I get it’s a cheap/more accessible app for rides but having people wait 10-15 mins for drivers to come and usually theyre late and only wait 1 min, I was walking to my ride, less than half a street, they left, I got a ride again times are tough, I was next and they picked up another ride when I scheduled my ride hours ago, got a text “sorry for the delay” only to wait another 20-30 mins after the 10-15 for ANOTHER ride, honestly only use this app when walking is too far or weather is bad, never got a refund or a free ride from waiting MULITPLE times

### 2/5 — Stressful

*2025-07-21*

It beats walking for sure . But a lot of the drivers are unProfessional. I watched driver pull off on me as I’m walking to the car . You only get 60seconds before they leave and the eta is inaccurate. Drivers will show up 40 minutes late but the maps will show them just hanging out at the gas station . If you have uber money take uber . If you can get a ride get a ride . Depending on a lot of the drivers will end up costing you your job . BUT, it does beat walking or not being able to get a ride at all .

### 5/5 — It is such a BIG DEAL

*2025-05-07*

Yes, I’ve been left before because I wasn’t ready.
And yes some of the drivers aren’t the best personalities’.
But after all that, you can’t beat the PRICE bottom line.
I want to commend Kansas City for helping their citizens with such a much needed program.

### 4/5 — 4.5

*2025-03-16, version 4.0.0*

Good

### 5/5 — Ok and useful

*2025-03-15*

Know your time frame and be nice to other that have to be picked up before out after u. It’s just like uber out Lyft expect cheaper and shared but there are others in your same situation. Courtesy and thankful appreciate the drivers. That’s what counts.

### 5/5 — Unfair company

*2025-02-24*

Have you ever waited for an Iris when it’s -8. After waiting in the cold and find your ride has been cancelled. This a normal process for them

Rides are always late, no one ever gets picked up on time. If you get a ride, your going to watch your driver, pull in and out of restaurants, quick trips, drive thru lanes

Maybe you pay your drivers $35/hour, most of them aren’t worth $10/hour

We are sending a delegation from Kansas City to Washington to discuss the future of iris and bus services. Why should the federal government support such a worthless cause. There are 1000’s in Kansas City who want iris totally eliminated.

Until this company has changed the ways of their operations, I refused to ride. I pray to god, president trump cancels funding for this program

### 4/5 — Reliability

*2025-01-10, version 3.26.1*

Iris is pretty reliable but every now and then a driver may not show up.

### 5/5 — Review

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — They don’t even service half of KC.

*2026-01-03, version 4.6.8*

If you live anywhere other than North KC there’s no service.

### 1/5 — T

*2025-09-24, version 4.4.0*

Most of the time, rides are delayed or don’t show up, making me late for work. Once, a lady driver pulled up while I was taking my son to daycare. I waved when and she saw me when I got in, she complained that I should have approached her to confirm I was the passenger. She spent the whole ride scolding me, and honestly, she could have just left me. It was really unprofessional.

### 1/5 — Waste of an app

*2025-07-22, version 4.4.0*

how are y’all less reliable than Kc Bus transit and i’m paying money 😭👎

### 1/5 — Always late

*2025-05-23, version 4.2.0*

They are almost always late and when u call customer about drivers not moving or goin in wrong direction they try to talk to u like u don’t know wats goin on. U get wat u pay for seems like there motto

### 1/5 — Terrible app

*2025-03-20*

my pick up was at the corner of a busy intersection. the driver pulled into a parking lot that would cause me to cross this busy intersection to get to him. there was no communication between us to let me know where he was so I just started looking for the car I'm supposed to be picked up by and that vehicle is not it either. I just so happen to walk up on a Chrysler van with ZTrip on the side and asked if he was my ride! It's not right there's no communication between drivers and passengers and had I not looked for him Iris would of been cool with me getting left. If it says I'm going to be picked up in a Nissan versa and the driver in a Chrysler and can't communicate that how does that help me find my ride? information needs do be accurate and communication needs to be available. I don't agree with this program being defunded but there definitely needs to be changes! pick up points and drop off points needs to be safe for both drivers and passengers. And communication needs to available during pick up all pick up instructions and information needs to be accurate also I understand that it's not a door to door service but if I'm going to McDonald's on north Choutoe and Cleveland my drop off shouldn't be on NE Parvin and Cleveland that's over a 1/2 mile walk. having to figure out an address to get me closer to my destination is crazy work! I have used and supported this app since finding out about in 2023. it's a great program and I would hate for it to be taken away but Iris has to do better! why ask to keep a program that has important functions unavailable? why ask to keep a program that has unsafe pick up n drop off points? why ask to keep a program that has rude drivers? why ask to keep a program that doesn't have drivers available during certain periods? if you haven't gotten it it ain't about the price it's about the the service and Iris has bad service do better and maybe the support to keep the program will come. Sincerely a tired supporter

### 1/5 — Racial-and Demographic Profiling

*2025-03-13, version 4.0.0*

IRIS Rideshare has been one of the most frustrating experiences I’ve ever had with a transportation service. They claim to be a reliable and affordable option in Kansas City, but in my experience, they are anything but.

First off, their scheduling system is a joke. If I don’t book my ride at least two days in advance, I might as well forget about getting one. And even when I do schedule ahead of time, the drivers are never on time. More than once, I’ve had a driver mark themselves as “arrived” when they were still miles away. Other times, they simply don’t show up at all.

When a driver does eventually get there, it’s still a mess. Many of them can’t follow a GPS, and I’ve been taken on completely unnecessary detours that add time and frustration to my trip. Some even stop mid-ride to take unscheduled breaks, leaving me sitting there, waiting.

The customer service is just as bad. I’ve had drivers be rude, dismissive, and even tell me to be quiet during a ride. Some of them also try to charge extra surcharges on top of what IRIS already charges, which is completely unacceptable.

Beyond all of that, I’ve also noticed some really concerning things about how IRIS operates. There are reports that their algorithm racially and demographically profiles riders, which, if true, is completely unethical. It’s bad enough that they run a terrible service—now they might also be discriminating against customers?

And don’t even get me started on refunds. If you cancel a ride, IRIS is supposed to refund your money back to your credit card. Well, I’m still waiting on over $200 in refunds, and no matter how many times I call, I get the runaround. I asked a call center agent about my ride status once, and their response was, “It will get there when it gets there.” That kind of attitude says everything you need to know about how this company treats its customers.

I was so fed up that I took my concerns to my Republican senator, and he told me that I should wait until Department of Transportation funding is cut due to the new administration—implying that IRIS might be in trouble soon.

Apparently, I’m not the only one who’s had it with IRIS. Over 250 riders have come together in an effort to file a multi-billion-dollar class action lawsuit against the company. Six law firms are already interested in the case, and they may combine forces to take IRIS down.

On top of that, ABC News has been contacted about these issues. This company needs to be exposed for its failures, and the public deserves to know the truth.

At this point, I wouldn’t recommend IRIS to anyone. The service is unreliable, unprofessional, and possibly discriminatory. From late drivers to rude customer service to their refusal to issue refunds, it’s clear they don’t care about their customers. And with a lawsuit and media attention heating up, their days might be numbered.

For now, I’m looking elsewhere for transportation—because IRIS sure isn’t it.

### 1/5 — Awful app

*2025-02-03*

This app and service are awful, at first it used to be decent then it became terrible and now its GOD AWFUL ! My last few trips have had me in the car for 2 hours !!! Going the complete opposite direction to turn around and drop me off an hour later, ive even had it return to the area where it had just picked me up from to pick up somebody else ! & then customer service is none existent! Just a worthless app with worthless employees.

### 1/5 — How can I rate this 0 stars?

*2025-01-07*

Are you kidding me? I have a ride scheduled to pick me up at 3:00-3:15. I keep getting notifications saying my ride can’t be fulfilled, I called the number asking what’s up with that, and they say “yeah, a driver has picked up the ride, but it won’t be there until 3:47! That could update, yeah, it just updated now, now it’s saying 3:50.” This is information I don’t have. I can’t see that, all I see is pickup time: 3:00-3:15, arrival time: 3:33. Where did that time go, I don’t know. Customer service is rude and snarky, they keep changing my pickup spots, so now I was to walk NOWHERE NEAR where I said I wanted to be picked up. Drivers cancel your rides, even if they’re looking dead at you, one driver snatched my card out my hand and tried to manually type in my information. I had to snatch it back to get it back. Seriously Iris, don’t hype yourself up, if you aren’t actually any good. They also, never drop you off at your drop off spots. Every time I call customer service about this, they blame me. Every time, without fail. Never once, have I ever written a review but this, is the worst app ever. 0/5 if I could.

### 5/5 — So far so good

*2025-10-04, version 4.4.0*

It’s been a helpful alternative to the bus and Uber/Lyft

### 5/5 — The best drivers!

*2025-09-19, version 4.4.0*

I ride Iris off and on for work and running errands- the drivers are on time for the most part, and if running late you will receive a text. Sometimes there are multiple riders, but hey- it’s $3.

### 5/5 — Reason why Iris is needed

*2025-07-31*

I use Iris almost every day to get to and from work. There are many people I work with they use Iris, but most of the people entirety they use Iris are trying to get to and from work. This app is amazing. Some of the people are jerks, but that is OK For four dollars. You cannot beat it. But it could be corrected. You’re the most part people are amazingly nice and accommodating.

### 5/5 — 5 Star Transportation Service

*2025-07-30, version 4.4.0*

### 5/5 — Iris is a lifesaver

*2025-06-05*

Living up north and working south of the river was a nightmare trying to get to work. there is no bus route by my home and so I had to take Ubers, which cost a lot so when I found out about the Iris it literally helped me keep food on the table because all my money was going into transportation.

### 5/5 — Iris is a blessing!

*2025-05-14*

Iris had been such a blessing for me! I haven’t driven a car in 30 years and this is the first time I can get all over town for a reasonable price! I leave for work around 4:30 am and I never have a problem finding a ride that early. The driver’s are all very nice and professional.

### 5/5 — Great service

*2025-05-10, version 4.2.0*

I enjoy this great service it really helps out some communities in the great Kansas City area. I hope the city continues to fund this program.

### 5/5 — Please use this app

*2025-05-08, version 4.2.0*

I love this app. It is way more affordable than Uber and I get around perfectly and just fine and I’ve saved so much more money since I’ve been using this app.
