I liked that this was more of a spot for genuine reviews and community, but as people continue to post and engage just to get gems it’s gotten harder and harder to sift through for thoughtful posts and conversation. The main button is now linked to shopping, I get notifications about brand specials more often than anything, and the best items in drops are now only for people who purchase a certain $ amount through Iris. The whole thing has become much more capitalistic… High quality reviews often get less engagement because they’re written by those who can’t spend all day every day on the app. As time goes on I find it less and less enjoyable to use, unfortunately. ### 5/5 — Great community *2025-05-12, version 4.1.1* The people here are friendly and helpful. The people on here are lovely and give good advice. The only thing that sort of bothers me is that it is very hard to claim drops. Although the amount of drops have increased a bit over the couple months that I’ve joined the Iris community, I haven’t been able to claim a single drop. Even when I am on the page the second that one drops, they are already gone. Considering this has been the case for months now is a little disappointing. There are people who have claims 5+ drops while others haven’t had the chance to claim any. Don’t Waste Your Time! *2025-03-12, version 3.7.1* They offer a tiny product, yet they set high point requirements and make it feel like a competition by pausing availability from time to time. By the time you try to claim it, others have already taken it. I signed up thinking I would receive samples in exchange for my reviews, but they don’t actually have such a system. Instead, they constantly ask you to share videos on Instagram and TikTok. You don’t even send people samples, so why would they create content for you for free? On top of that, they keep expecting endless reviews. There’s a limit to how many products a person can actually try. Yet, I see some people posting thousands of reviews in a year—how could anyone possibly use that many cosmetic products? That’s why I believe the platform is full of fake accounts and reviews. Plus, the moderators praise everything excessively. If that’s the case, you’re just advertising. How can every single product be amazing? This app is completely unnecessary. I strongly advise against trying it. LIKE IM TRYING ### 1/5 — Not good app *2025-02-13, version 3.5.2* I have been member for 3 months and all I get is not eligible for anything and I write legit reviews with swaps and receipts but it seem not to work the whole algorithm is just very fake. ### 1/5 — Racism *2025-01-28, version 3.4.0* I don't know how to interpret the message I received when I wrote some reviews in Spanish and English so that the Hispanic community could read them, I received a message where I was asked to delete the reviews in Spanish, I could only feel that racism was being used ### 1/5 — Suspended for Thinking Pronouns aren’t important *2025-01-16, version 3.3.1* Update: I have received an email from Danielle that said my suspension meant that I was banned permanently, I do not believe she understands the definition of “suspension.” Her previous email literally said to me “Please take this time to thoroughly review our community guidelines and reflect on how you can better contribute to our community in the future.” How am I to better contribute to the Iris community if I’ve been permanently banned? People should know who they are dealing with. I am a pregnant woman, ready to give birth in 3 weeks and I am being discriminated against for having a different belief system about pronouns. My lawyer will be contacting this app shortly until they allow me back in. I enjoyed this app for awhile until I had a different opinion. It is clear that a lot of people behind this app are part of the “woke” agenda. I have been suspended since early October I believe. I left very good reviews and was in the highest level you could be in. Apparently this community is letting 12 year olds join, and other reviewers are complaining about it. I personally don’t feel that small children should be on an app like this. The chemicals and etc that are in skincare and makeup to begin with it’s bad enough that adults slather it on their faces but to promote a community for children to do it, is truly shortening their lifespans. It sounds like it’s become a sad unruly atmosphere filled with children making inappropriate comments. I was part of it for a year or so, but clearly it’s not a good community any longer. ### 1/5 — A complete joke of an app *2025-01-07, version 3.2.1* Tried to join the community by doing my 5 reviews was nominated and was awaiting approval. I wrote 5 quality reviews on multiple different products & wasn’t accepted because I talked about an ingredient in the name of one of the products. Took that sentence out & still wasn’t accepted. Mind you I’m reading all the other reviews & they’re basic “ love the product, would recommend” while I’m taking time writing about my experience with each product. It is engaging and helps me get out of a rut, get out of my comfort zone and figure out how to learn new things. And makes me feel brave so I can try something I think of even if it might not workout. The reviews are helpful and insightful especially when you find someone with similar skincare type/ needs as you. There are fun challenges and other ways to get to know others who love beauty. This isn’t just an app to write reviews and get some stuff in return. And the community is so positive and authentic! But you must have basic reading and writing comprehension skills to use the app. Some people complain that they can’t level up in the app- but the FAQ really does explain exactly how the app works. You just have to read it and follow the instructions. If you can do that, the rest is actually quite easy. And you must be able to write your reviews well - in complete sentences, about a paragraph each.
