## What is Iris?

NOTE: Current version *ONLY* supports Tuya/Smart Life devices. We are a team of developers that are building what we envision to be the most user friendly home management app. Join us and assist us by providing your valuable feedback for our app.

Meet IRIS, the Integrated Residential Intelligent System. IRIS is a home management assistant designed to help you maintain and operate your home with less effort. It brings structure and logic to how a home works by coordinating smart devices, automations, and home-related services into one coherent system.

IRIS allows you to manage your connected devices and home systems from a single place, giving you a clear view of what is happening in your home at any time. By using logic-driven automations, IRIS helps your home behave predictably and adapt to how it is used, reducing the need for constant manual control.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.4 — 2026-08-30

BRING YOUR OWN AI
Connect your own AI in Profile → AI settings — OpenAI, Anthropic, or any compatible endpoint. Your key stays on this phone, and a consent step shows exactly what gets sent before anything leaves it. Using a cloud AI also lets you skip the on-device model download at setup.

SMARTER SCENE & DEVICE CONTROL
• Run scenes by voice, with a quick confirmation — Iris can suggest the scene you probably meant.
• Control more device types: curtains and blinds, IR air conditioners and TVs.
• Ask about your home: "is the bathroom fan on?" gets a live answer, checked against your real devices.

FASTER
Iris opens and starts listening immediately, and the upgraded on-device model runs about 2x faster on half the memory.

Iris chat is English-only in this build. It only knows some of your devices so far — for the rest it will politely say it isn't sure.

### 2.3 — 2026-08-03

Iris voice assistant improvement
• A better conversationalist. Iris now follows a conversation across turns, answers questions about your home instead of giving up on them, and keeps straight who it is and who you are.
• Fewer wrong devices. Iris no longer acts on a device you didn't name, and a question about a device is answered rather than carried out. When two names are close it asks which one you meant, and it checks with you first before anything involving a lock or a whole group of devices — decided by what the device can actually do, not by what it's called.
• Faster. Replies come back in seconds rather than tens of seconds, most device commands run instantly with no thinking step, and the mic is live the moment you open Iris instead of after it finishes getting ready.

### 2.2 — 2026-07-22

This update is all about your cameras.
• Multi-camera view — swipe through all your cameras from one home screen, each with its own live thumbnail.
• SD card playback — watch recorded footage straight from the camera's SD card. Scrub the timeline, jump to any time of day, pick a date, and change playback speed.
• Pan, tilt & zoom — steer supported cameras with new on-screen controls, and go full-screen in landscape.
• Save to Photos — save snapshots and video clips directly to your Photos library.
• SD card tools — format a card, or recover a corrupted one, from inside the app — with low-space and card-error warnings.
• Reliability — smoother, more stable live view and recording playback.

### 2.1 — 2026-07-09

• Voice control: turn on lights, switches, curtains and scenes just by asking
• Ask questions and get answers on the spot
• 100% on-device
• Custom device and group names stay in sync across all your devices
• Various bug fixes, stability and performance improvements

### 2.0 — 2026-07-06

Iris now understands voice and chat
• Talk or type to control your smart home — "turn on the living room lights," "set the aircon to 24°C," "run Goodnight."
• Presence-aware: Iris acts on the device in the room you're actually in, and checks with you when a command could match more than one device.
• Runs fully on your device — the assistant's models download once on first launch.
• Ask questions and chat naturally.

Also in this release:
• Various reliability and UI fixes.
