### 3/5 — Good but omissions

*2026-01-17, version 5.8.0*

A “food” category that’s missing basics like pasta, carrot, peas, banana, grape, etc?!

### 3/5 — Language

*2025-11-19, version 5.8.0*

It seems that it only has one pronunciation. Where as there are 3 official, distinct dialect pronunciations. Ulster, Connacht and Munster. You appear to only have the Connacht pronunciation.

### 3/5 — Accent

*2025-09-29, version 5.8.0*

A pity you don’t do Ulster Irish. The pronunciation quite different

### 5/5 — Love this

*2025-01-10, version 5.8.0*

Worth it paying the small fee for a lifetime of learning. Great app easy to use .

### 5/5 — By far the best

*2024-07-28, version 5.8.0*

In my humble opinion, this little app is invaluable to beginners in the Irish language. The accent and voice to me, seems convincingly authentic, unlike some other apps that utilise AI generated voices. It has quite a large vocabulary and a great many off the shelf phrases to get familiar with. I’ve downloaded a lot of other Irish language apps only to very quickly delete them. This one however is a keeper. Go n-éirí leat

### 5/5 — Well designed!

*2024-05-14, version 5.8.0*

Great interface and content.

### 5/5 — Brilliant

*2024-03-25, version 5.8.0*

Great design and ease of use!

### 5/5 — Love it!

*2023-11-16, version 5.8.0*

Love it! Great way to get acquainted with the Irish language. it’s actually Easy to learn the pronunciation this way!

### 5/5 — Easy to use and well thought out

*2023-08-01, version 5.8.0*

I love using Gaeilge every day for a few minutes. It’s very easy to use and makes me feel like I’m helping keep this beautiful language alive.

### 5/5 — Great app for practicing Irish!

*2023-03-07, version 5.8.0*

Helps with pronunciation. Really good.

### 5/5 — Love it

*2023-02-12, version 5.8.0*

Tried the free version then had to get the full version. The pronunciations are great to have as the words look, well, unpronounceable at times. Agree with another reviewer who mentioned dialect. I have previously been learning the Donegal/Ulster dialect, which I would prefer, however, I'm going to continue with this as at least I'm still learning Irish. The prompts really work too, as they really encourage me to open ap and have a go. Anyone know just what dialect this ap is teaching? It would be good to know.

### 3/5 — Good but

*2023-02-09, version 5.8.0*

App looks terrible and needs a redesign, looks like a app from 2010. But the concept and actual learning part is great

### 5/5 — HELP!

*2023-01-10, version 5.8.0*

I purchased three languages from your app and seem to have NO way to switch between them and no way to get help!

I love your app but if you have no way for me to switch back and forth them I want a refund

### 5/5 — Great for learning vocabulary

*2022-12-07, version 5.8.0*

Helpful to hear the words and to explore other words to learn the sounds and meanings in Gaeilge.

### 5/5 — Is maith liom è!!!

*2022-10-10, version 5.8.0*

It is a very good app!!! It tells you how it is pronounced and written, which is very important. I do believe that it is important to clarify that I THINK this is Connacht dialect. Tá sè an-mhaith.

### 5/5 — I Wish to Speak with an Irish Tongue

*2022-10-03, version 5.8.0*

I’m becoming familiar now, small steps, step by small step slowly; words unknown are beginning to bud and are revealing the possibility of their flower within. I’m hoping that in time when I might speak it, with still some distance to travel, I might yet find that Irish garden of sweet scented flowers that I’ve always been seeking and hoped to live beside.

### 5/5 — Irish

*2022-08-09, version 5.8.0*

Brilliant

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Get a native speaker.

*2025-11-16, version 5.8.0*

AI voices are terrible and often incorrect.

### 1/5 — Robotspeak!

*2023-08-20, version 5.8.0*

If want to learn to imitate a robot croaking and squeaking in sounds distantly ressembling nonsense Irish, then this is for you!!

### 1/5 — No phonetic pronunciation shown.

*2021-08-14, version 5.8.0*

Would be helpful to see how to pronounce words, not just listen
.

### 1/5 — Decent but costs to much for full version

*2019-02-05, version 5.8.0*

It’s okay

### 1/5 — All wrong

*2013-10-24, version 3.2.3*

I'm Irish and they are all wrong terrible

### 2/5 — I can’t get it to stop!

*2021-01-16, version 5.8.0*

Help! How do I get this thing to stop??? I close out the app and it continues to play as soon as my vehicle or Apple Watch discover it- even without opening up the app. It’s ALWAYS on.
I like the app and don’t want to delete it so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

### 2/5 — Not the best

*2019-05-09, version 5.8.0*

Overall a good app but several problems I’ve noticed such as “sea” (properly spelt Is ea) and “Ní hea” being presented as yes or no when Irish does not have a yes or no. These words better translate as it is and it isn’t respectfully. As well as several pronunciation issues that while some could be dialectical, some are simply wrong however such as Sláinte pronounced “Slawncha” while the audio says “sline-tuh”

Definitely not bad as a start but I would recommend the Duolingo course over this as an app for learning Irish

### 2/5 — English Language Voice

*2018-08-27, version 5.5.0*

Why does the English Language voice sound so angry?
Did she not enjoy the job?

The App would be more pleasant to listen to if both the English language and the Irish language voices had native Irish accents.

### 2/5 — Not reliable

*2017-01-09, version 5.3.3*

When I first downloaded this app, I thought it was cool and a good way to lear Gaelic, but once I went on this app, not many words are available on the free section and also some of these words like yes and no on here are no right because there is no yes or no I Gaelic and only god knows what other words are incorrect

### 3/5 — Incomplete

*2026-03-08, version 5.8.0*

The list of words feels incomplete and it’s hard to navigate. There’s no tests. And in each catagory like 5 words!?

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Here’s what I really want.

*2026-06-30, version 5.8.0*

### 5/5 — Nice app

*2026-03-08, version 5.8.0*

So far been learning lots. Maybe a bit more features would be nice, but still nice

### 5/5 — Fantastic learning app

*2026-01-10, version 5.8.0*

This app has been fantastic, but recently I finished all the words available & I want to “re-set” the app so I can start over but can’t figure out how… I’ll keep trying but now I can’t load words per day !

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2025-11-15, version 5.8.0*

I love it it is so helpful

### 5/5 — I think this will really help me ……

*2025-06-20, version 5.8.0*

I’ve wanted to learn Irish Gaelic for so long. I am Scott Irish. And I want to learn Irish Gaelic and later on Scottish Gaelic I think this will really help me and I’m learning really fast. The main problem I have is remembering what the Gaelic words stand for so if you could add another thing, kind of like a flash card that can help you memorize what the words stand for that would be great. I think that would help a lot of people and add some more English voices that don’t sound like robots that be great

### 5/5 — Great app

*2025-05-24, version 5.8.0*

This is the most helpful app I’ve tried, easy to use and no hassles

### 5/5 — very good

### 5/5 — Kilroosky

*2025-03-12, version 5.8.0*

Very good & and makes one eager to continue to add more phrases.

### 5/5 — Irish
