I’ve only spent ten bucks on it. It’s a game that really respects your time. I can get a mission or two in in fairly short order and when I want to grind materials I can easily raid without having to play through the whole mission again. Not to mention the fortress and towers you can play. It’s a pure focus on combat and I like it. It’s simple with great touch controls, but also deceptively skillful at higher difficulties. I find myself going back to replay missions in higher difficulties for better rewards and mastering the combat more. I also enjoy the progression. It doesn’t feel like it’s too slow, I feel like my character is growing stronger at a fairly nice pace. You can of course spend extra money to obtain resources, but im enjoying playing to actually get them. Nice game overall. Great graphics, voice acting, and sound. The story is okay, not horrible, not the best, but interesting enough. ### 3/5 — An often glitch but still good *2021-05-13, version 2.3.0* This game is such a good time killer. It’s not pay to win, the loots drops are reasonable and the combat feels fluid. You can either still back and watch your character kill for you at get in the action. But when I got the fortress tutorial it kept saying that the attack failed and to try again later even though I never fought and they defense rating said for the Enemy said 0. I can’t even play anymore. Pls for the love of Jacques fix this glitch. When you do I will definitely give 5 stars. ### 3/5 — There is a bad bug *2021-05-07, version 2.3.0* I just start out playing having a good time and all until I get to the part in the tutorial which is about the tournament, I am stuck when it makes you click on it so you can’t do anything else. Once I click that it then asks me to press fight, the fight button is broken basically. It says it failed try again later. The huge problem is that I can’t play anything unless I get passed this nonsense! Developers you need to fix this if you want people to actually get to play the full game!! ### 4/5 — Absolutely great but.... *2021-04-04, version 2.3.0* Best mobile game I have ever played download NOW but before you play you need to know that in the game you go around in different levels fighting people and you can do some finishing moves like chop someone’s head off and stab them with a sword and with an axe other than those it’s really good but they should have an online mode where you can battle online against players online. If that was added for sure a 5 star. Go download the game right know and have the best mobile gaming experience ever. ### 4/5 — Mystic quest reward and leadership on alliances *2021-01-03, version 2.3.0* The game is good and the graphics is good, but my concern is most of the time the mystic quest reward is very common, even the brutal and extreme level still the reward is crappy and it’s always the same reward rotating weekly same common legendary gear, why dont you guys put some reasonable reward like the legendary sets not just some common sets. And the reward in the events as well are the same over and over it’s the same sets when are you gonna change it in different sets, I’m hook up on the games and I wanna collect sets of gear and armor but I keep getting the same sets over and over. Also one more concern I want to brought up is about alliances, on every alliances only the leader can make a decision like invite member and boast stuff, why don’t you guys change it why don’t you guys give an option to promote some of the members to prove loyalty to the alliance same as clash of clans, because if only the leader can have those option and your leader go AWOL or busy, then nobody on the alliances can do anything. ### 4/5 — Fun to play once you understand the mechanics *2020-05-23, version 2.2.2* This is a fun game to just sit back and hack and slash. Story is ok, but gets lost. When playing, one needs to understand how use your shield. Things I would change, maybe after the main story, have the main enemy just have a line about repopulating the world with more demons, or something. Just so there is something leaning towards doing all the missions over again. Lastly is the controls. I used the default control on iPad for a while. Then on accident I found the set up for MORE CONTROL buttons. Wait there is a dodge button, and a way to move the guy around! Wow this would of made the game more enjoyable if I new this at first. Since the options are there, I would allow the players to set up the control buttons how they want. This would be a big improvement. They can play stripped down action buttons, or all actions. Also place the options to what fits their playing style. ### 4/5 — Good game but freezing is a real issue *2019-10-15, version 2.1.0* When the game is working the gameplay and story is fun unfortunately the screen frequently freezes while play continues and that cause you to lose fights and energy. I’m actually starting to think that it’s intentional, after I win three fights in a row, on the fourth fight the screen freezes but I can hear that the action Co rubies I just can’t see to do anything. Sometimes I can get luck and spam the attack button enough to finish the fight but usually I die and lose trophies. Target switching mechanic does not work properly and is probably the worst aspect of the whole game. Since you can’t switch targets properly you’re frequently stuck targeting whichever enemy the game randomly targets. Also some enemies are so tall that they don’t fit in the camera view therefore you can’t see the bolts that appear above their head when you need to block. Good game but with some minor fixes, could be great. ### 2/5 — Weird bug? *2019-07-19, version 2.1.0* After the second level when it gets to the part of the tutorial where you upgrade the sword, it freezes up or something. Either that or theres no item in my inventory to upgrade with therefore I cant do anything on the menu and I can’t go anywhere. Help! I really want to play this game and don’t mind supporting you guys through a few microtransactions. Update, still not working. It’s saying fuse. I have a 3 star sword equipped but it’s making me upgrade the 1 star one you start with but I don’t have any other swords and can’t used the one equipped. I have 2 pairs of gauntlets though. Maybe this was some really terrible RNG? ### 3/5 — 3 stars I guess *2018-11-25, version 1.8.1* This game overall is a fun game, but there definitely needs to be a few fixes before I start grinding this game. It’s fun, but the blocking mechanic is a little annoying. Blocking is a key component in this game, however, as you progress, enemies get stronger and there’s no way to regain stamina after you lose it. I think the blocking mechanic needs to be reworked, along with the bow and arrow mechanic. Don’t even get me started on how long it took me to get 3 stars on a level because I couldn’t shoot at an archer because it would target the enemy I was attacking or the enemy standing in front of the archer. It’s almost impossible to figure out how to shoot at archers when it comes to this and it’s quite obnoxious. Rework these two mechanics and you’re definitely getting a five star from almost everyone. ### 3/5 — Great Graphics, not a great game though *2018-10-22, version 1.8.1* I was excited to get this game because I love rpgs with beautiful graphics, but while this game has amazing graphics the gameplay was very disappointing. I didn’t realize this was an auto-pvp game. There isn’t even a transition from one place to another. After you defeat the enemies you start walking off then it cuts to black then you’re somewhere else with more enemies. I was severely disapponted by this game. I got it while looking into elder scrolls, which isn’t coming out until December, so I figured this one was similar and would also be fun. But it’s just another third person auto pvp game. Boring. ### 3/5 — My thoughts on Iron Blade, and why i'm sick of the game. *2018-10-20, version 1.8.0* Pros: Great events, AMAZING storyline, Alliance chests, Dialogue, Cool gear, Fun combat, Cool loot (etc). Cons: PvP is VERY laggy, after arena matches the game freezes so you have to reopen the app. I lose trophies against enemies because the game is lagging during battles, not because i'm bad at the game, I believe the low frames and lag may have to do with the fact that the camera moves WAY TOO MUCH. I would enjoy a way to edit the settings to where I can move the screen angle with my fingers. Also why isn't there an option to select which enemy to target, its so bothersome and annoying? Anyways, it is a good game altogether. It's just very annoying when I lose because of the game and not because of my own actions. ### 2/5 — This game was designed for children *2018-10-09, version 1.8.0* So this game commits most of the sins that turn me away from most pieces of software in this realm: - They treat you like children, and you cannot select what you want to in the beginning. For example, I wanted to see if this game supported the Nimbus controller, and it didn’t. Would have been nice to know right from the beginning, but impossible when you’re told what to click, when to click it, etc. - The advertising makes it look like you can explore, but you cannot explore anything. It moves your character for you, eliminating any explorative elements whatsoever. Why advertise the environments when you can’t explore them? - I was able to complete a decent chunk of the game with no problems at all... JUST by tapping the attack button over and over again on the screen. Since there’s no exploring, you just mash the attack button repeatedly, and you’ll most likely win. Who do they expect to play this game? Six year olds? Those are traits of games that lump into it being something that only kids would get enjoyment out of, or just people so bored that they don’t know what to do with themselves. ### 2/5 — Mediocre RPG *2018-09-13, version 1.7.2* It’s an ok game but nothing mind-blowing. The graphics are decent; the game mechanics are honestly too easy and the AI does most of the movements, you basically only have control over what weapon to use and when to attack/block. The Fortress matches are terribly buggy and the screen would freeze in the middle of a Fortress attack but the game would go on and you’d lose, which could lead to you getting demoted to a lower rank. It happened to me so many times I stopped playing the game. There are plenty of weapons/armor to choose from and upgrade; so it can be quite entertaining in that aspect. Overall, I won’t recommend this game but no harm in playing it if you really have a lot of time to waste. ### 4/5 — Update 7 *2018-07-19, version 1.7.2* Update 7 just dropped, so this won’t actually be a full review, but I wanted to highlight something that I think will fast become an issue (or inconvenience at least). With the new layout of the shop, you have to scroll up and down to get to items, with the purchase buttons being directly underneath each item. Since there is no “confirm purchase” for items bought with in-game currency then I can see many players accidentally buying something while they are scrolling and being frustrated. To fix this I would suggest: A. Changing the shop layout (either back to the side-to-side scrolling, or something like clicking an item first, then having its purchase option in a kind of pop-up window) or B. Adding “confirm purchase” to items bought with in-game currency (i.e. rubies, war tokens, etc.) The developers have been pretty good with, at the very least, paying attention to feedback, which is one reason I really like this game and would strongly recommend it. P.S. The shop filters are really nice though, especially for the packs. ### 4/5 — Fun! *2018-07-18, version 1.7.2* Fun game to play casually. In app purchases available to those who want to advance fast. I enjoy the interactivity of the game play as opposed to some games that are time and money based. If you don’t spend money this game will give you limits as to how often you can play, which is nice, in my opinion. I like the upgrade system and there are two levels to development, your character (offensive) and your fortress (defensive). Team based weekly objective via alliance chest gives nice rewards. I played the main quest until the “Fortress” opened up. Now it wants to force me to fight a battle…one problem: every single time I attempt to do what its requiring I get a message “Sorry, your attack failed. Please try again later!” And to make matters even more absurd, there is NO WAY out of this loop. I have even had to watch ads repeatedly just to get the “blue sword” points or whatever they are that enable an attack. This game is flat-out broken for me. I’m on a gen 5 iPad 12.9, don’t be like me and waste any time on this. ### 1/5 — Lots of bugs *2021-04-27, version 2.3.0* I’ve had the game glitch and erase progress in the campaign as well as the pvp and even the character level. I just regressed a level from 28 to 27. Out of the two times that I’ve received top tier gear, both times the game glitched and just... removed them from my inventory? Same thing has happened with keys, rubies, etc. Sometimes entire chests can be opened, the stuff will disappear from my inventory but the keys are not replaced so they’re just wasted. But the real kicker is what happened that triggered this review. My game froze and the screen colors inverted and then turned pink, the music cut out and everything. Not like the usual “reconnecting” frozen, either, just completely still with no pop up. Can’t even find a way to actually contact support? ### 1/5 — Broken from the start *2020-03-16, version 2.2.0* I don’t like to leave bad reviews or one star reviews on games like this because it’s a really cool game honestly. It’s based around fighting similar to the assassin creed game styles and that’s like the main part of the game from what I seen. But I have to give it a 1 star because the tutorial is absolutely broken and bugged. I was just starting the game and I’m the part about upgrading ur weapons it just freezes. You can push or touch anything and it just stops there. I got past the first upgrade screen by closing out the app then reentering it and then it took me to another upgrade screen and it froze again, not allowing me to even finish the tutorial 🤦🏻‍♂️ if I can’t even play the game then how can I rate it well 🤷🏻‍♂️ ### 1/5 — Pay to win *2020-02-25, version 2.2.0* I would not listen to most of the positive reviews, as any other mobile game it’s easy to believe that they are either paid or the developers making good reviews about themselves to boost the games attentions. I really want to love this game. But when you begin to grow stronger and level. The game spikes the odds very high against you. At its core it’s a good game. But like any other mobile game. It will try to squeeze as much money as possible out of you to get an unfair advantage over others. In fortress battles you will normally be out against a foe that is greater than yours, with winnings and losses that is just not worth it. And when you do get an easy one the points are not worth it. You will struggle to climb up the ladder as you get beaten and get a ridiculous amount of points taking away from you when you lose. Like I said, I really want to love this game but it’s really hard to. ### 1/5 — SCAM - DO NOT DOWNLOAD! *2020-01-01, version 2.1.2* Used to be a great game, now it’s just bait to make you spend. Chests now cost rubies and promised gear never drops. Unresolved glitches and game freezes. Terrible customer service; over 90% of issues unanswered, unresolved, or followed-up after 3-4 weeks past submission. Not worth getting into, run away before you get suckered into their scams. False advertisement on reliquary chest drop rates and on the gear that drops. They conveniently claim there are no glitches. Most older players are so frustrated over support team’s inaction that they don’t even log formal complaints anymore. Caveat emptor: you will waste time, money, or both! Apple should refuse to feature this app until gameloft stops scaming end-users. ### 1/5 — Fix the chat bot issue! *2018-11-17, version 1.8.1* Google “Iron Blade Chat Bot” and see how this has been an ongoing issue for a long time. See the responses from Gameloft on their own forums promising for months on end that they are fixing it. Launch the game and go to the chat just to realize that it’s useless cause all the chat bots. And that’s just the chat. Also take note of the myriad of pop up ads including their own pop up ads for in game purchases. Notice where the buy button is located at in comparison to the main buttons on the previous screen. It’s almost as if they are trying to trick you into accidentally purchasing in game content. Many many glitches, game crashes and freeze ups. Not even the ads will play properly most times. The ad starts to play the video then gets stuck. Then when you tap the ad to close it, instead you get whisked away to the ad’s website. Seriously, is this the way you guys are generating ad revenue with false forced raffia to your advertisers websites? All problems get the canned response to contact customer support. How about no! How about I just give you the review you deserve and just delete this garbage. Gameloft should be ashamed of itself. ### 1/5 — Great game concept. Love it! *2017-11-22, version 1.3.1* I love this game it. It reminds me a little of Dragon’s Lair, but with better control. I would love if they took it a step further and added other classes. Also after the story ended that there was an open world concept. But that may be asking too much. Love it so far. It is great game that satisfies my need to do mmorpg like WOW but on my phone. As stated it is not open world but love the combat system so far. It gives the battle that epic hero feel of switching from hand to hand and as you are running to next target you can pull out your bow and shoot on run then switch to sword or axe to finish off target with you melee weapon. Did I mention I love it and it is new favorite game??? I had originally rated this five stars but the longer I have been playing, the more the game locks up and have to restart game to continue playing. Since the last update, I have not gotten game to play properly. I click on first action, it opens but does not acknowledge what I click on. As far as the freezing, the saying I have enough rubies for a chest when I clearly dont and the stealing of my precious energy when the game freezes, then causing me to close the app and restart are constant! I cannot go more than 45 min to 1 hour of constant play with out having to restart the app, usually mid mission load, causing me to lose energy for absolutely NOTHING. SUPER DUPER frustrating!!!!!!! I’ve been playing about a week, level 14, and still have a rusty sword. Leveling up equipment is slow and tedious The pvp (computer?) will frequently put you against an opponent you have no right being in the same arena with. When playing the campaign, blocking is something that weakens you and you run out is stamina way before the end of the round. Quests are ridiculously hard to complete even if you play frequently (not enough energy to fight) There are high level people in chat but it makes me wonder if these people are developers or just people who have been playing forever. For me, the rewards aren’t enough to keep me playing or even get me into it enough to even consider spending real money. It doesn’t have to be a big open world but at least so that you can move during the fight the combat animations are awesome but all you do is push some buttons which doesn’t make it bad but it would be better if it had a joystick so that you can move through the levels and perform stealth attacks as well as sneaking past guards. One week into this game, I was at level 25 and so far, I only spent $0.99. You don’t have to spend money to do well in this game really. There are many events you can participate, which can easily help with your upgrade. What I like about this game, every strong and higher level enemies have their weaknesses, as long as you can figure it out, and skillful enough in your timing and execution, you can beat most of time, without having the best gear possible. Of course, you may not have the best time to win 3 skulls rating, but 2 skulls rating are beyond possible with crappy gears. What I hate is how laggy the game can be. It takes a while to transition from one section to another. It got worse for me when it started freezing. So instead of having to stress out about this, I just stop playing altogether. Off to look for a better game, I guess. Listen developers, it doesn’t matter how pretty your graphics are, if people can’t have a better end-user experience, you will lose your audience. ### 5/5 — Defense *2018-10-20, version 1.8.0* First off I play a lot of your games Gameloft and I’m a big fan of your work but this game has a problem with its defense so whenever someone’s about to attack me and I attacked them first I still somehow get hurt and I understand I need to block with the shield but if I attacked him and I hit them first wouldn’t it make sense that there attack gets canceled? But other than that it’s a pretty interesting game I just started and I’m looking forward to it don’t disappoint me 😊 ### 5/5 — Completely amazing *2018-06-19, version 1.6.0* So far I’ve been playing for about two weeks and the game really good, it plays amazing.. I didn’t find any issues with the games controls they are really easy to use. The blocking button works perfect, but you do have stamina which can go down and not block so good.. eventually you can upgrade and customize. This game also has crazy kill combos and really good graphics.
