## What is Iron Roads?

"Finally, a deep and fun train management game designed perfectly for phones. Iron Roads is so much more than just a desktop game crammed onto a small screen!"

Optimise and grow your railways in this challenging train management game. Earn resource tokens by refining your network until your towns are thriving. Avoid queues, jams, or angry passengers to be recognised as the unsung train hero you know you are.

Iron Roads is a top-down 2D train management game in which you lay tracks, buy trains, and set their routes until you have an efficient network carrying passengers and cargo between your towns and factories.

With board game-inspired mechanics such as resource tokens, geographically-induced space constraints, and innovative track order systems, Iron Roads will appeal to players who relish the more cerebral, optimisation elements of train simulation games, as opposed to more realistic business sim/tycoon-type games. Ultimately, your goal is to set up an efficient rail network that keeps your passengers happy and on-time.

### 3/5 — Trains Frozen

*2026-07-31*

I like the game and would like to play more, but when I leave the game and join back, my trains freeze. I tried to fix this by selling and rebuying my trains but they just didn’t show up. Love the game, excited for more updates and fixes

**Developer response:** Hi, I'm sorry to hear this. Save games do load in a paused state by default, so if you haven't already, try tapping the play button in the top right. If your trains still don't move after that, could you email me at the support address? I can try your save game and fix any bugs I find!

### 5/5 — Very good

*2026-07-13*

There are few rail games as well put together as this. It is a really good game. The controls are pretty rubbish - laying and deleting rails is a bit of a pain, but that’s my only criticism. I really like it. If you enjoy logistics and planning and optimization and so on you really should play this.

**Developer response:** I'm glad you are enjoying it!

Regarding your control issues: I'm sorry to hear this, but we are working on improving the UI at the moment, and feedback is greatly appreciated. If you are willing to email your thoughts on the controls to the support address on the page, we'd love to hear them!

### 1/5 — Can’t play on iPad, UI issue

*2026-06-02*

Still on the first step of the tutorial. I can select the Platform button, but cannot drag or place it in any way.

**Developer response:** I'm sorry to hear that. The 0.7.10 update we just pushed improves track/platform drawing controls quite a lot, so there is a good chance that will fix your issue. If not, please email the support address on this page, and I can narrow down your issue and get it fixed!

### 1/5 — Paid game masquerading as free

*2026-04-28*

If it’s a paid game(for most basic function of town sustaining, perfume can be bought using money to unlock the game), it should be mentioned in the bio or game should be paid upfront. Scam

### 5/5 — One of the best games ever

*2026-03-14*

Got the game and I’m obsessed with it, from the struggle of making sure everything arrives on time to to expanding. Very challenging but it pays off once you do it perfectly, to the creators, I hope you bring more because I need more. Fantastic game

### 5/5 — Delightful game

*2026-02-19*

Spent about 10 hours tinkering around to get the hang of things. Loved what I experienced so far.

### 5/5 — UI Buttons are Broken

*2026-02-15*

I’ve been playing games for years—decades, even—so trust me when I say this isn’t user error. I can’t get past step 2 of the tutorial, which is simply placing a track. Step 1 was zooming out, and that’s essentially all the game lets me do.

My entire experience so far has been repeatedly trying to place a track, failing, and being able to do nothing except zoom out. The controls feel unresponsive and nonfunctional. The dev made a comment on Reddit about this, but seriously, was no play testing done?

**Developer response:** Hi, I'm sorry about this. This bug occurred on iPads where specific configuration options wer set, and unfortunately we did not playtest on any set up in that way. It is fixed in 0.7.5 though, and we'll be sure to check it in the future!

### 1/5 — The game is not working yet

*2026-02-15*

Ipad air 11-inch (m3). IpadOS 18.6.2
The button positions do not match the display; you have to press 2 centimeters above the button itself for the press to be registered.
The buttons at the top of the screen do not work at all.
There are also constant crashes.

**Developer response:** Hi, I'm really sorry to hear this. There was a bug that could occur with iPads in a certain configuration that caused the mismatch with positions. This has been fixed by the 0.7.5 update.

0.7.5 also fixes a number of crashes. If you still have trouble after updating, please email me using the support link so I can get it fixed!

### 1/5 — Unplayable

*2026-02-13*

Brought the full version of the game only for it to crash every time I unpause.

**Developer response:** Hi, I'm really sorry to hear this. There was a crash that could occur with certain layouts with 0.7.4. We've pushed out the 0.7.5 patch and it should hopefully fix it for you!

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 0.7.15 — 2026-08-03

Our focus with this update has been the tutorial. We have edited it for clarity, fixed some bugs, and extended it to teach one-way orders.

Additionally, Iron Roads now shows only one notification at a time on mobile devices to keep the screen easy to read, and this update fixes a bug where the purchase status would required you to be occasionally online.

### 0.7.13 — 2026-07-20

This update fixes a crash that occurred while removing a stop from a service that had trains very recently added to it. It is a rare case, but it accounts for all crashes in the last few versions of Iron Roads.

### 0.7.12 — 2026-07-12

This update concentrates on improving the tutorial, both the initial tutorial for new players, and the access to mini tutorials for more advanced behaviours.

We also fixed the description of builder mode, and moved the position setting for the construction toolbox to the main settings.

### 0.7.11 — 2026-06-26

This update adds Builder Mode for those who want a more relaxing experience when creating their network. It isn’t challenge free, as you must still keep queues down, but you no longer need to worry about travel times.

We also fixed a bug with the layout of the monthly challenge screen, and tweaked inertial scroll.

### 0.7.10 — 2026-06-15

This update has some more small changes to improve the UI and playability. Most notably we’ve altered the logic that decides whether you are editing track or dragging the map. This removes the nuisance cancellations to the drawing.

There are a few bugfixes in this update

- We fixed a bug with the option to edit all trains on a service at once
- Tapping on a train would not always select it. This is fixed now
- We have removed a crash in Futura that could occur when completing contracts in a specific order

We’ve also added a button to follow your trains around the network. This is for no purpose other than the satisfaction of watching a train take a tour around your map!
