### 4/5 — Cannot log workouts UPDATED

*2026-01-21*

UPDATE: able to log work outs. Selecting exercises for workouts can be slow/lag but hopefully will be fixed in the upcoming update.

Unable to log workouts since latest iOS update. Hopefully a fix is coming soon

**Developer response:** Update with fix will be out today!

### 3/5 — potential

*2025-04-15, version 2.7.5*

i like it overall but have a couple issues. i frequently get an error message when trying to save my workout while at my gym, which sometimes changes what i had logged. this means i have to use a secondary app or notes on my phone to log to make sure it’s correct when i go back. there’s also seemingly no way to log past workouts

### 3/5 — Where are the kettlebells???

*2023-12-21*

Only squats for kettlebells? Why not have the ability to create our own workouts if entire equipment lines are missing from the library?

Edit: Appreciate the developer response. Have emailed them with requests for more kettlebell workouts. Raising stars from 1 -> 3.

**Developer response:** Create exercise feature has just been added!

### 2/5 — Ehhh

*2022-12-03, version 1.2.9*

I like the app but I get promoted to subscribe even when I am already subbed. Waste of money

### 4/5 — Wonderful but some small glitches

*2022-05-30, version 1.2.9*

Simple, intuitive & clean interface.

Great way to track progress, and novel curated workouts.

Minor issue around the app not recognising a pre-existing subscription and gatekeeping you from any features after a few days. There is also no way I can see to get in touch with the developers regarding this. Hopefully this will be resolved shortly and I can get back to using a fantastic app.

### 4/5 — Interface issues

*2022-05-10*

Been using this for a while on and off. I have the year subscription and everytime I close the app it ask me to select a sub. option and then gives an error message which forces me to delete the app and re enter my info from scratch. The workouts are good though

### 2/5 — Pretty But Clunky

*2022-04-19, version 1.2.9*

The UI is very pretty, but the UX leaves a lot to be desired.

### 2/5 — Can’t use app

*2021-04-07, version 1.2.9*

I paid for the yearly subscription and used the app for about 2 weeks. Now it won’t let me open it. It is telling my I have to sign up for a subscription again.

### 3/5 — Good for tracking, not much else.

*2020-06-15*

This is a great workout tracking app. It does supply you with sets, reps, and exercises. The major flaw with this app is that it does not support linear progression and gives no guidance in RPE/intensity for a given set.

These days, I should be able to plug in a starting Max for a given exercise and any app worth it’s weight should be able to spit out the exercise, reps, sets, AND weight. Then, when you successfully complete the prescribed exercise it should add 5lbs (or some increment) to the bar for the next workout. Instead, you’re more or less guessing what you can lift for a given set rather than being given an incremental goal.

It also leaves the user guessing as to what intensity to approach these workouts with. For example, given sets of 5,5,3,2,1 for an exercise, it’s actually NOT optimal to make each of those sets a “max attempt”. To a user unfamiliar with strength training principles, they’ll likely max out each time which isn’t a sustainable model for progress.

**Developer response:** Thanks for your review! When logging sets we currently display the prior rep maximum for every exercise and allow our users to choose the weight increment by which they would like to increase their lift. In future updates we plan to add algorithmic capabilities that will allow for users to choose if they would like IRON to determine their weight for them.

### 5/5 — Great App but where is the update?

*2020-04-27*

Enjoying the interface but a little confused about tracking progression. It seem like you just edit the workouts you’ve made each time you workout but where does the previous data go? Also it seems like 2.0 has been in the works for a while but there’s no updates on a release date within the app or in the social media’s. Also wondering if Apple Watch will be compatible?

**Developer response:** Hey Erick,

2.0 just went live, and Apple Watch version is certainly in the works for the future! Thanks for your review, and don’t hesitate to reach out to founders@ironapp.co with any feedback!

### 3/5 — Love the app but...

*2020-02-11, version 1.2.6*

I had a typo on a weight and tapped out of it. Supposed to say 80 and now says 808. Can’t change it. Irritating to say the least. Now when I open that workout it automatically says 808. Tried everything and no way to fix this.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Cannot log workouts

*2025-11-14, version 2.7.6*

Unable to log workouts since latest iOS update. Hopefully a fix is coming soon

### 1/5 — Can’t Delete Errors

*2024-01-07, version 2.1.6*

If you make a mistake logging a set, you can’t delete it. It’s stuck that way for good. That’s a huge mistake and oversight that should be fixed immediately. The app is clean and nice, but too much stuff is hidden behind a paywall for this app to be more successful than it’s competitors.

### 1/5 — Nah

*2024-01-05, version 2.1.6*

You have to pay to unlock all of the features.

### 1/5 — Charged immediately for a free trial

*2022-12-13, version 1.2.9*

I tried the 7 day “free trial” and was charged on the same day. This app also did not show up in my Subscriptions in my settings, that allows you to cancel your trial period. I did not even bother trying this app out. Requested a refund from Apple. Seems like a scam.

### 1/5 — Subscription broken

*2022-08-19, version 1.2.9*

Can’t use the app after the first session. The subscription modal won’t close even if you subscribe. Would rate higher if I could use the app.

### 1/5 — Bug with Payments

*2022-02-07, version 1.2.9*

App is stuck with the activate trial window even though I apple subscription pages show it is already subscribed.

### 1/5 — App is DOA + no development

*2021-11-04, version 1.2.9*

App is dead on arrival. Hasn’t been updated in a year. No information on the 2.0 refresh. And developers are deleting reviews and responses.
It should be removed from the App Store, or at the least, not promoted by Apple.
Stay away and download something that is actually supported.

### 1/5 — App says I don’t have a subscription but I do

*2020-09-28, version 1.2.9*

Every time I open the app it says I have to pay for a subscription to continue but I’m already paying for the monthly one. And when I press restore purchases it says no purchases found. When I check my itunes account it shows the subscription and I do in fact have the charge on my billing statement.

### 1/5 — Keeps asking me to pay for subscription even though I’m paying for the app.

*2020-07-25, version 1.2.9*

I was looking for a simple workout app to keep up with lifting stats and making simple routines primarily for strength. It does all that which is great, but it keeps asking me to pay for a subscription which I already currently have with this app and then the app is locked till select a subscription in which it keeps telling. Me to manage and then I have to reset my phone. So pretty much a pain in the ass.

### 1/5 — 24 hour access

*2019-10-28*

App only allows you to use for 24 hours before you have to pay. Pricey too.

**Developer response:** If any user would like to experience the app for longer than the allotted trial, please email us (help@trainiron.com) and we can help out.

Currently new users are able to access the app for thirteen minutes of continuous use before choosing to start a 7-day free trial. With our upcoming update, 2.0, our basic features will become free for all users.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2023-08-15, version 1.2.9*

This is a great and simple work out app no thrills just straight to the point

### 5/5 — Stunning.

*2020-06-08, version 1.2.6*

Such a simple, original yet stunning app that is perfect for logging lifts. Subscription for lifters that only want to log & create their own workouts, and not have pre made ones is pricey, but I understand, as the developers have done a wonderful job and deserve some sort of income.
