Is It Vegan is a tool for anyone interested in eliminating animal products from their diet. Simply scan the UPC bar code on the package of any food or beverage product, and you'll see: Whether the product is vegan, vegetarian, or neither. A summary classifying the list of ingredients. A detail list showing which ingredients are vegan, vegetarian, non-vegetarian, etc. And the original (unclassified) list of ingredients for the product. After putting each ingredient into a category, Is It Vegan then decides whether the product is suitable for a vegan or vegetarian diet. Is It Vegan has information on hundreds of thousands of food and beverage products and verifies each of them using a master list containing thousands of pre-classified ingredients. Users now have the option to upload products, making our database larger than ever! Notice: Data on products outside the USA is extremely limited at this time. Rid ads or else! ### 1/5 — Skinless chicken breast probably vegan? *2019-04-05, version 3.1.2* Items with ingredients such as “skinless chicken breast” are marked as probably vegan which makes it impossible for me to rely on or trust the filtering of this app. Although I’m no app developer, it seems an ingredient including chicken, something I certainly want to avoid as a vegan, shouldn’t be hard to mark definitely not vegan. ### 4/5 — Not perfect, but useful *2018-06-18, version 3.1.2* I use this app nearly every time I go to the grocery store. Sometimes a snack will have those impossible-to-read ingredients and this helps me determine whether or not they’re vegan within a matter of seconds. It saves a lot of time; now I don’t have to google everything. The database could be bigger, but it is easy to submit new barcodes to help the database grow. My sadness right now is directly proportional to the excitement I felt when I first found it. When it works, it’s invaluable and worth every penny. When it doesn’t, it’s as frustrating as it gets. The app developer appears uncommunicative, so don’t bother trying to contact them. Just wait, they’ll fix it when they do. ### 2/5 — Please fix! *2017-12-26, version 3.1.2* This app was great when it worked. Now all of a sudden it stopped working. I try to scan something and then it doesn’t load. Waste of money! ### 1/5 — Was great *2017-12-24, version 3.1.2* Suddenly stopped working. Both my wife and I rely on this app daily and it worked great most of the time. We were using the free version and it would just beep after scanning and nothing would happen. Manual entry doesn't do anything either. I paid $5 to get the full version hoping this would help, but to no avail. Then I went to email them from the app for assistance and you can't even click on the email link. What use is that? Please fix this.
