Goes to show how long it’s been since this app was updated. It’s nice to see my Xiegu G90’s waterfall on a larger screen (the radio only has a 1.8” display), but frustrating knowing it could be larger still. ### 3/5 — Needs FT-8 mode *2018-03-02, version 5.0* Any chance you would consider making an FT-8 encoding / decoding iPhone app? Jim - KH2SR Needs support for Apple Watch ### 3/5 — AM geht schlecht *2017-09-12* Für SSB ist die App ja durchaus zu gebrauchen, allerdings sind die beiden Bandbreitenstufen etwas gering und man sollte vorallem für AM selbst die Filterbreite auswählen können. Auch scheint das AM eher so eine Art DSB zu sein da dort immernoch ein Träger mit dazugemischt wird was AM beinahe unbrauchbar macht. ### 2/5 — ISDR *2016-07-01, version 4.4* Disappointing performance, as I had to buy a fairly expensive sound card to make it work with my radio, and then I found it allowed no control of the radio and a very limited range on screen which needs to be reset when tuning through the band. Of only limited use and not worth the effort. Spend out on a proper pan-adaptor. Les ### 4/5 — ISDR *2016-04-01, version 4.4* For 99 cents it's hard to complain about this app. Struggled with a few poor connections but once the iMic was properly connected to the KX3 everything worked as advertised. Panadapter bandwidth is limited to a max of 44 kHz as near as I can tell, but the resolution on the iPad was great, and it was easy to locate strong signals and relatively open spots in the cw bands to facilitate working expeditions. No point and click to tune the radio obviously, but a great addition to the KX3 if you're carrying an iPad or iPhone already. ### 4/5 — Panadapter for KX3 *2014-12-16, version 4.4* I bought this app to use as a Panadapter with my Elecraft KX3. For only 99 cents it's a real bargain. I connect the iPad to my radio through a Griffin iMic and the Apple camera connection kit. I use the tuning knob on the radio and watch the peaks on the spectrum display move left or right, depending on which direction I'm tuning. When a peak is at the center of the display, I hear that station coming out of my radio. The waterfall display is a lot harder to use this way, so I only use the spectrum display. I hope Digital Confections will add a dual spectrum/waterfall display like on Elecraft's panadapter. That's the only reason I didn't give the app 5 stars. ### 1/5 — Crashes on startup *2014-04-30, version 4.0* Got an update today for iSDR and now the app crashes after the splash screen. Will provide a better review if the author fixes this problem. ### 4/5 — SDR is NOT shortwave streaming *2014-04-15, version 3.4* SDR is Software Defined Radio and needs an external receiver ("radio") plugged into your audio/microphone jack of your iPhone. The app is the controlling software for the external radio. There are also Windows and OS X applications that will let you do the same thing. The sample files in this app are just to give a taste of how the app works. This app does not stream shortwave radio nor is it supposed to. Please read the description of this app and google SDR or Software Defined Radio before downgrading the app. Not affiliated with iSDR. Just a SWL/Ham enthusiast. ### 1/5 — Very... Very fake. *2014-04-14, version 3.4* This is a completely fake app. It provides no real shortwave live streaming. Excellent! *2022-03-15, version 5.1* Have a Belka DX spy radio and can feed the iq output through irig HD2 to the software to create a panadapter visual interface on my iPhone. All other SDR require dongle and server this removes this into one very small neat package but needs power as the irig chews phone battery. The app could have a few improvements as it can be clunky but nothing on market to match it at moment ### 5/5 — Very useful! *2021-09-20, version 5.1* Exactly what I was looking for. I plan to use this app with KX2, QCX, and QSX in the future. Although I currently have none of these radios, the demo file gives me a very good understanding of what this app can do. Mind blown with the sdr/dsp stuff. ### 5/5 — Nettes und faszinierendes Spielzeug *2016-07-07* Als SDR-interessierter Funker hab ich mir die App zugelegt, um die SDR-Fähigkeiten meines Handscanners Alinco DX-J11 auszunutzen. Das geht jedoch nur mit einem Stereo-Eingang, den iPhones und iPads nicht haben. Also musste ich mir ein externes Soundmodul zulegen (Sonic Port, ca. 70 Euro). Damit spielt iSDR einwandfrei als SDR-Demodulator. Leider ist das Kabelgeraffel mehr als nervig, sodass ich das nur ganz selten einsetze. Allerdings habe ich (nur mit dem eingebauten Mikrofon) eine ganz neue Anwendung für iSDR gefunden: Man kann es als Ultraschallempfänger benutzen. Spannend ist es, Jagd auf (fast) unhörbare Signale zu gehen, beispielsweise zirpende Schaltnetzteile, unerwartet im nahen Ultraschallbereich emittierende bewegte Teile oder auch die von Virenjägern entdeckte Ultraschall-Kommunikation von Viren über den PC-Lautsprecher (da hatte ich jedoch noch kein Jagdglück...) Außerdem habe ich als ebenso nette wie unnütze Spielerei entdeckt, dass ich Musik und Sprache unhörbar per Ultraschall über meine Stereoanlage im ganzen Haus mit iSDR hörbar machen kann. Dazu muss ich die zu übertragenden Musikstücke vorher mit dem Plugin "Frequency Shifter" z.B. im Audioeditor "Audacity" in den nahen Ultraschallbereich verschieben. Allerdings muss man entweder mehrfach um 5kHz verschieben oder man muss die 5kHz-Grenze des Plugins durch einen Hack in der Konfig-Datei überwinden. - Okay, das ging jetzt erheblich über eine normale Rezension hinaus, aber ich wollte meine Begeisterung für diese App irgendwie plausibel rüberbringen, auch wenn ich den ursprünglich vorgesehenen Anwendungszeck kaum nutze. Mein Fazit: nettes Spielzeug, das mir neue faszinierende Möglichkeiten im Ultraschallbereich eröffnet hat. ### 5/5 — Geht ufb *2014-07-03* ....Manche Bewertungen hier lassen mich doch schmunzeln, da wird schlecht bewertet obwohl nicht verstanden wurde was diese App macht und wie sie zu benutzen ist. Die App geht ufb auch über das eingebaute Mikrofon des iPad, an FT-817 und KX-3 habe ich das iPad über ein iRig angeschlossen, das geht super. ### 5/5 — Works. *2014-06-15, version 4.1* Tried application with IQ samples dumped from others receivers and works great. however I am wondering and requesting support for the USB RTL-SDR dongles. Preferable via a direct usb connection through the camera connection kit. Or via RTL_TCP (samples over the Internet live)/ IQ sample dumps. It would be awesome, because then I could avoid buying a nexus for mobile SDR usage. ### 5/5 — Great SDR file analyzer *2014-04-18, version 3.4* If you don't understand what this is, don't download it and then make useless remarks in a review. It's not a receiver, not by itself anyway. While you could use it real time by routing the iq stream from an external receiver to the mic input I "feed it" prerecorded IQ files I generate from a digital receiver connected to a PC. This software provides portable, offline analysis and demodulation of signals within the recorded spectrum of the file. Pretty amazing feat give the limited horsepower in an iPad. 73 ab1jv ### 5/5 — Works great, G8OFA *2013-12-24, version 3.4* Brilliant with KX3 and iPad Air ### 5/5 — Wonderful *2013-06-04, version 3.3* Even without the external hardware, the app provides an excellent hands-on introduction to the SDR technology via the built-in loop of a chunk of RF spectrum in the 40m amateur band during a busy contest. The app code seems to be essentially perfect. The GUI is perfection. The only part that I've not figured out is the binaural effect (not what I was expecting, I'll keep playing with it in case I'm missing it). The Line 6 Mobile In is the best to get the I/Q audio in to your iPhone, iPad and iTouch.
