I’m not sure why others think it’s a scam, I’ve have nothing but excellent experiences. Prices are also comparable to taxis with the added benefit that they actually show up… ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Doesn’t Work *2026-02-05* The app simply does not work. Can’t even register. ### 1/5 — Deceptive UX designed to take your money. Just use the public bus or take a taxi. *2025-11-27* Google “dark ux patterns”… this app intentionally makes the wallet and “top up” features misleading/confusing so that you add money to the app that is nonrefundable. Source: I’ve been designing apps for ten years. You don’t need to add money to your wallet at all, you can just charge a CC. If you add money to the wallet during a ride, it won’t be used for that ride, effectively double charging you or worse. They must not care much about their drivers either since there’s no way to tip them in the app. What was supposed to be a $36 ride with a nice 20% tip for the driver ended up costing me $84 and I was only able to tip the driver the few singles I had left in my wallet. Just take the public bus, it’s perfectly safe, easy, and only costs a few dollars. Or take a taxi, you’ll pay less and avoid being conned out of your money with pointless app features. I’ll be contacting my CC company for a charge back. I hope this shady app goes out of business. **Developer response:** Hello burnerphoneshawty We are sorry that your experience did not live up to expectations, but your review could not be further from the truth. Allow us to address each of your concerns: 1) Dark UX - this is common on all modern apps. Some people simply prefer darker visuals. It has no bearing whatsoever on the app function. 2) Wallet feature - this is optional. Currently, we can only support Apple Pay top ups via the wallet function, which is why this exists. You do not need to use the wallet if you do not use Apple Pay. You can choose to pay via the Wallet or directly charge your card when ordering a ride. The app UX explicitly allows you to select your payment method before ordering. We cannot be held at fault if you do not select the correct payment method. You are correct that we will not offer refunds for wallet balances, so only add to your wallet as much as you need. 3) Tips - this is simple economics. Drivers are compensated very fairly (otherwise they would not volunteer to drive). There is no need or requirement to tip in a fairly priced marketplace so this is not an advertised feature. You were not obligated to tip in cash. That is at your discretion entirely, so it disingenuous to claim that your ride “costed $84”. We invite you to send us an email at info@islandgo.app so we can discuss these matters further with you. ### 1/5 — Great drivers, lousy app *2024-12-31* This app needs to show the user location to the driver - pickups were difficult and drivers missed us often. Drivers were super friendly and knew the island well. No complaints there! Service is a bit expensive and this app takes like 35-40% of a driver’s fare which seems too high for the quality. Time estimates were often wrong. ### 1/5 — Scam *2024-08-15* This is a complete scam ### 1/5 — Scam!! *2024-08-11* Spent 2.5 weeks on Grand Cayman with my wife and used this app twice. Had some friends come and visit in between our stay and they also had bad experiences. Used it 3 times and only because we had to. Third time was the last straw. Was debating if the high fare was worth it and accidentally pressed “go”. Cancelled the ride within 10 seconds and the money got taken out of my account and never refunded. My friends got charged 22 CI to go 1.5 miles. If you can…take a public bus. Talked to some locals about it early on and they advised against it. ### 3/5 — It Worked, But… *2025-11-13* I ordered a ride to the airport for 15:15. Got a notification at 15:03: “Your driver is here. Don’t keep them waiting”. Panicked that I was going to miss my ride and my flight, and ended my visit on a low note, rushing my goodbyes. Not cool guys. ### 3/5 — Hey I’m over here! *2024-12-07* Pickup points seem to be really arbitrary. At first it looks like your GPS dot on the map will be the pickup point and then a random icon labeled ‘A’ is assigned a 3-5 minute walk away even if you’re right next to a road! Multiple times had my driver zip past me as I was waving at them. Then they’re stuck in the middle of the road, hazards on, waiting for me to jog to them. This element definitely needs to be refined, otherwise it’s been a good app. **Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback, it’s much appreciated!
