### 1/5 — Too hard

*2021-07-29*

Staffan, congratulations on releasing an iPhone app but the text is absolutely tiny on an iPhone XS and I can’t figure out how to do anything.
Can you add a help screen or at least a link to a manual?

### 1/5 — Unnecessarily cryptic. Sloppy developer.

*2020-08-30*

****The app does NOT work properly on the iPad. The gestures work unreliably, for example long pressing on the white channel/track tabs does not grey them out and deactivate them. Sometimes long pressing works, sometimes it does not. For whatever reason the right-most tab is stubborn and does not respond (and I know that they also don’t work by design if a given track has no steps, but that’s not what the problem is here). I thought that being unable to deactivate some of the tracks was supposed to be this way but I checked the iPhone version and it works differently. This was really adding to the confusion with an already cryptic interface!

****Speaking of the white and grey indications, the difference in brightness is too small and it is very difficult to see if given track is active or not. Especially with certain screen brightness.

**** Even the brief overview of gestures in the app description by the developer is cryptic: what in a world is the difference between “touch-and-hold” gesture and “long-press” gesture ????

****Is there a way to initialize all the settings? I understand that to clear a pattern another empty pattern can be pasted into it, but this does not reset all the settings such as sends, LFO, etc.

****reverb program can’t be changed from “medium hall”, at least I have not figured out how. Pressing on a small white square cycles between “off” and “medium hall”, no other presets.

**** can’t access page mentioned in the manual to drag and drop / copy scenes. The only page with scenes is where one can be saved, NOT the page showed in manual with square scenes icons.

****Airdrop sound import? How? Why is this not explained?

****Also, why are there so many instrument slots in the sound bank pages? How can they be populated? This is not documented anywhere.

****No clear and easy way of mixing the tracks, the mixer menu is very confusing.

****Inconsistent interface ideas. Sometime a small white rectangle and a “led” indicate a toggle between two option, sometimes they don’t. For example, the “mix/clip” looks as if you could toggle the switch between mix and clip, but in this context it is only an indication of levels clipping (hence “clip” led which looks like a toggle switch).

****After playing a bit with the app, I can say it’s actually very promising so I’d love to give it more than 1 if all the things I’m mentioning are improved. I pulled a lot of hair out of my head trying to decipher what’s going on! Maybe the app is meant to be like a game a bit... A frustrating one, but at the end rewarding.

****I still wish, just like with some tricky games, there would be some help from the developer...

The interface: It’s a love / hate relationships I have with it. I love minimalistic interfaces, such as those in Shapesynth, Tardigrain which this app reminds me off but the other ones are simply better as they provide more feedback and are more intuitive to use.

1 star is all I can give. If the developer cares to update the user manual and explain functions that he claims the app can do, I’ll update my rating.

All the best!
