This app gives you a tiny slice of a word and asks you to guess what it is. Foolish game. ### 1/5 — App not useful *2016-07-11* I do not find this app useful in teaching spelling at all. Definitely not what I was expecting from a spelling app. What a great game to peak little ones interest in recognizing letters! My nephew thinks it's the funniest thing when the laser goes off. And I think it's the funniest thing when he recognizes the words before me! It's actually fun for both of us. I'm a teacher and I'm so going to try and use this on my smartboard next year with my K class! By the way, don't feel bad if you can't get the highschool/college words (I've got a couple of degrees and I'm still lost sometimes) & the mind bender ones, well they're just insane. Definitely won't get bored playing those! ### 5/5 — Addicting- in a good way. *2011-05-28* A teacher recommended the I Spell Better app for my son who is having trouble with his spelling. He took to it immediately. The first night he played for hours. When he went to bed I decided to try it for myself. I've always been a good speller so I started at an advanced level. It was really challenging. Like my son I played for a long time - I even missed The Daily Show! I went to bed feeling "smarter." She loves playing with my iPhone, so I'm trying out as many "edutainment" apps as I can (especially if they're under 2 bucks!). This is definitely the best spelling app that I've found. She loves playing it!! The custom word lists are perfect for us. And...not to mention that I can't get anywhere with the hard lists when I play... Thank you so much Dr. Swartz!! I love playing challenging word games... but ispellbetter tops them all! Thinking this would be a piece of cake because spelling is my forte, I played on level 4 of 6 my first round and it was HARD. If you are a determined player, this is for you! Upsidedown, backwards, upsidesdown and backwards... and be careful, the words start to disappear as the stage progresses. As I find myself playing over and over, I'm starting to learn some different strategies... DON'T WASTE YOUR POWERUPS. You will need them if you want to conquer the game. I know there are sooooo many apps out there... but you will be missing out on hours of fun if you don't snatch this one up!
