Should have been free until they worked the kinks out. Jokes are cut off in two places. When you are trying to write them and when you are trying to review them. Two important areas I would like to be able to see what I wrote. Very hard to develop ideas with this app. If you cannot beat a sheet of paper you should be free... ### 2/5 — Cool app, but needs major update. *2012-01-07* Great idea, but needs some things to happen to get rating count up: Room for longer jokes, if not where you're writing then at least give us a way to scroll when were reading them. So annoying that it cuts off the ends. Open mic list sortable by zipcode. Ability to erase recording!!! That is insane that no one thought of that. If you accidentally hit record and threw off the set time then you have to delete the whole joke, which is a pain in the butt to type up on the iPhone. Will give you guys an awesome review if you fix that stuff. ### 3/5 — Mostly helpful *2011-10-24* I like the ease of using the app, but it needs improvement. Make the open mic sortable by day, or city, and make the info copy able, so when I call clubs, I don't need to switch back and forth looking at the number. Also let me write more than a single paragraph in the joke area. I just happened upon this app while searching to see if there were any apps that delt with comedy. This app far exceeds what I thought I might find. Easy to record my ideas either verbally or in text if there are others around. Allows me to create sets and see the time in seconds of each joke or bit. I love this app. It would be even more outstanding if there was a way to transfer the notes to my computer for further editing and audio directly to my computer in wave or mp3. Anyway, great app! ### 5/5 — Better and Better *2011-06-29* As an older woman just beginning my comedy writing, I thoroughly enjoyed the earlier version of iStand-Up. As a novice writer/comedian, I found it useful in beginning to think of my work in more structural terms. Now that this new version includes a Facebook link, I also feel a part of a community of peers, and that's important to me. In addition, the new recording feature makes it easier for me to be spontaneous and not fear "committing" to the material-since I can re-record. I highly recommend this app to any gal who's new to this world. ### 3/5 — Generally useful organization tool *2011-06-25* It does what it says, and that's great. If you're doing stand up and clutching your iPhone like a magical shield like I do, this will likely be very useful to you. The open mic feature, however, is kind of insulting. There is no method of categorization or grouping, nor does it use your location to find events. If they work this out, I'll add a star to the review. ### 4/5 — It's useful *2011-06-20* I find this app helpful in a couple of ways: First, its great for recording ideas when I have them, wherever that is. Second, I like the structure it imposes on the joke, making me consider all the elements of a joke, thus making it more likely I'll record all that I need to create a good joke while letting me refine it later. ### 1/5 — Needs work *2011-06-19* While this app seems like a good idea, it has some bugs that still need to be worked out. You cannot delete a joke from your set list and there is only 1 set list. It would be nice if there were more lists available so you could make set lists based on mic time.
