### 3/5 — App is not great, not surprising

*2022-06-25*

Every year I marvel at how horrible the app is. It’s literally a technology conference! Any time you go off the app it closes you out of the screen you were on. Chosen sessions are a mystery in the app..they should be the easiest thing to find.

### 4/5 — ISTE Newbie

*2016-07-02, version 6.0*

❤️ the app! One thing I think needs improving... I have 10 notifications but have no clue where to find them. Other than that I could not have made it through the conference without this app! 📱

### 4/5 — Pretty good app

*2016-07-01, version 6.0*

This is my 4th ISTE, and the app is a huge help navigating between sessions. However, I had trouble syncing the app, and sometimes my favorites didn't even show up, which caused me to miss a few sessions. The digital tool box was helpful, though, and presenters were good about updating their presentations.

### 3/5 — S'ok for outta the box Eventbase

*2016-06-28, version 6.0*

Haven't hit any major snags except the notifications area is difficult to find once you see a badge alert. (Using iPhone 5S) Please make the notification badge indicators more accessible in the app. Thanks!

### 4/5 — ISTE 2016

*2016-06-28, version 6.0*

First time at ISTE! Loving the app. It has been super helpful. I also think the game is awesome I just wish some of the aspects had been better publicized. Like how to earn points.

### 5/5 — App

*2016-06-26, version 6.0*

Good App

### 5/5 — Science teacher

*2016-06-26, version 6.0*

Great app user friendly!

### 5/5 — App

*2016-06-25, version 6.0*

Very easy to use

### 4/5 — Great

*2015-07-01, version 5.3*

My lifeline for 3 days. For future apps, maybe including a schedule builder and alerts for next sessions.

### 2/5 — Too much info

*2015-06-29, version 5.3*

This isn't the first time I've used an ISTE conference app. This time is still overwhelming. There are too many options to click through and most problematic was adding visitors to our session by adding their code. It wouldn't add anyone! About 15 people scanned and all said "invalid code". It seems you can't just add them via the Game- you have to choose which one of the tabs first so you have to take 25-40 seconds to fiddle and find out. In ISTE minutes, that is A LOT of wasted time.

Additionally, there aren't any reminders for preregistered sessions so in the rush to find the room, 7 minutes elapsed (yes, I checked the time) and my ticket had been given away. A location or navigation tool would've helped avoid this.

The app would be useful if it weren't so glitchy.

### 4/5 — Much greater than previous years!

*2015-06-29, version 5.3*

The app is helping me to carry less stuff and to know more of what is going on at the conference.

### 3/5 — Crashing

*2015-06-29, version 5.3*

This app was working just fine on Friday and Saturday (6/26-27) but has crashed every time I have tried to open it on my iPad today (6/28). Hoping it gets fixed quickly!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — App is a very poor reflection on the ISTE conference’s professionalism

*2024-06-18*

Just in the first few minutes, issues from years past are still very painfully evident, including (1) forced portrait mode on an IPad; (2) no way to see more than 100 characters of a session description (really??); (3) illegible-sized fonts that ignore system settings; and probably worst, (4) when you swipe to another app, you totally lose your place and filters for what you were looking at, and you start entirely over. Even if you swipe out for a few seconds, you waste 10-20 seconds getting back to your schedule … which starts you on Sunday even though it may be Tuesday.

Forget trying to build a schedule on the IPad or IPhone app, impossible as you’re not shown any of the description beyond 100 characters. Do your planning from a desktop, or from your mobile browser, then import it into the app. I guess that’s the way to do it.

Does anyone at ISTE care, or does anyone there use their own app? My school district is bringing fewer people to the conference this year, due to rising prices and diminishing value. Seeing how poor the app experience is, and how poor it’s been for years now, does not reflect good on the organization.

### 1/5 — Really disappointing app

*2023-06-28*

This app is a disappointment and incredibly cumbersome to use. Every time you “open” the app, there is a screen that says “updating app” and then completely refreshes the app. Super annoying when you’re looking at the app, respond to a text, and then switch back to the app and have to go through the whole thing just to get back to where you were.

There also needs to be a better way (like a grid) to visualize the events/sessions that are happening simultaneously.

Again super disappointing for a technology conference. It became either use the app or walk around aimlessly… I chose the latter, thankfully there was plenty of interesting things to find.

This app is a joke.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work.

*2023-06-23*

The app doesn’t work, can’t sign in, can’t see sessions. You’d think a Technical conference would have an app that actually works. Hope you have paper schedules this year.

### 1/5 — Poor app that reflects badly on ISTE and the conference

*2023-06-19*

For the price attendees pay for this conference, this app is a major letdown. Why is it impossible to find on the App Store?

And WHY is the app still a portrait-only app? This has been a problem with last year’s app too — there are IPad users out there, you know. Is it that hard to make it rotate?

Load times are terrible, and the app’s insistence on losing your progress if you so much as open another app is beyond infuriating. One wonders if anyone at ISTE actually tests this app, considering it’s one week before the conference starts and the app is finally released.

It’s the lack of attention to these details that make the conference less and less of a value, and I think that is evident in the reduction of year-over-year attendees. Hopefully ISTE makes some changes.

### 1/5 — Poor Design

*2022-06-28*

It’s the only option… but the 5-90 second title screen is a pain. Sessions aren’t organized into the program clearly. Finding the day’s sessions is always an ordeal of menus, filters, and scrolling.

### 1/5 — Flippin’ Bad

*2018-06-24*

Would like to meet the mother flippers who designed this app and take away their certificates of achievements.

### 1/5 — So. Bad.

*2017-06-25*

It's pretty embarrassing how terrible, fluky, unreliable, and utterly useless this app is, considering it was theoretically created by actual tech professionals. It's just a sad version of the perfectly good website, so if you're considering downloading the app, don't bother.

### 1/5 — Very buggy, always freezing up

*2014-07-03, version 4.2*

Very frustrating to use. Kept freezing up iPad and iPhone every time an update downloaded which seemed to be EVERY time you opened the app. Became a joke in our group. Seriously, that many changes every day.
Favorites alright but this seemed better on the 2013 app.

### 1/5 — Crashes

*2014-06-28, version 4.2*

App crashes often. Does not tabulate tweets. Keeps notifying me of an update but there's not one in the App Store.

### 2/5 — This app could be better

*2016-06-30, version 6.0*

I had so much trouble getting my favorites to sync. I had to print a pdf copy from my laptop to see my sessions.
Overall, this app has too much stuff to siphon through. It needs a simple interface where you can save the sessions you want to go to.
Hopefully next year the app will be better.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — The only way I

*2023-06-25*

I’m so happy

### 5/5 — So much better!

*2019-06-14*

The ISTE Conference app has really improved this year! It now has some very useful new features, like being able to register for sessions—and to see if they’re full. It can also help personalize attendees’ experiences at the Conference with recommendations, and it makes it a lot easier for people to network and connect with other educators who have similar interests.

### 5/5 — My go to tool for conference!

*2019-06-14*

This year’s app gives me exactly what I need to make the most of my time during conference. With so much to see and do, the app let’s me map everything and plan my sessions ahead of time to share with other #ISTEfriends.

### 5/5 — Brilliant App

*2019-06-14*

A great app which serves this essential ed tech organization well. While there is no such thing as perfect tech with every feature and operability we desire, this app serves ISTE well and is a great addition to their suite of services and events serving educators.

Highly recommend.

### 5/5 — Great App for the ISTE Conference

*2019-06-14*

Downloaded the app for the ISTE 2019 Conference. I was able to search and filter for the sessions that I needed without any issues.
The connect function of the App is fantastic! Being able to search for other educators with my interests allowed for me to connect with the right people at the conference and after.

### 5/5 — Love the features

*2019-06-14*

I’m so excited to get to ISTE19, after looking at all of the great sessions from the app. Mind Meetups sounds fun too!

### 5/5 — Much improved with new version

*2019-06-14*

The new version of this app is much better! The suggested sessions are great and so are the directions to the session rooms. Thank you for the updates.

### 5/5 — Hot stuff!

*2019-06-14*

Lookin’ good, ISTE!

### 5/5 — Best thing ever!

*2016-07-01, version 6.0*

I was overwhelmed initially until I used this app.

### 5/5 — ISTE newbie ❤️'s the app

*2016-06-26, version 6.0*

My first ISTE experience would have been chaos w/o this app. I love having all the info at one place!
