### 4/5 — Read the details, only works between iOS devices

*2021-04-05, version 4.0*

This is a handy program that, once installed on an iOS device, allows it to act as a remote camera for another iOS device that’s running the iStopmotion app. Another reviewer seemed to be trying to use this app between a Mac and an iOS device, but the app description says both devices must be iOS.

So you need two iOS device and two apps. The iOS device that’s acting as the camera needs to be running iStopmotion Remote (this app), and the other iOS device that’s acting as the master (has the shutter control, and builds the clip by receiving frames sent by the other device) needs to be running the separate iStopmotion app. Also, the two devices need to be connected to the same network (WiFi network, I believe) to communicate with each other. Read the directions from the software publisher here in the App Store to learn how to connect the two iOS devices.

### 2/5 — What do i need to use this?

*2020-07-13, version 4.0*

very comfusing please tell me what to get to use this

### 3/5 — App for iPhone?

*2018-02-15, version 3.1*

Not so much a review as a question. Any plans to make I stop motion available as a stand alone app for iPhone se?

### 1/5 — Don't waste your time

*2016-11-11, version 3.1*

Piece of crap. Didn't work at all.

### 1/5 — I hate this app

*2016-06-01, version 3.1*

I tryed to download this app for a project. It was horrible. I was connected with wifi and it still didn't work. I'm feel this app is garbage. It is not worth downloading.luckily I found another stop motion animation app that is better

### 1/5 — useless

*2016-05-16, version 3.1*

i pay for the mac application but the iPhone can’t connect with my mac,i dont know why, i gonna say it’s useless.u have to work!

### 1/5 — Sigh...

*2016-05-10, version 3.1*

STILL won't connect to iStopmotion 3.7 on Mac. This is useless.

### 1/5 — Not working

*2016-05-08, version 3.1*

I tried this on three devices: iPad 3, iPhone 5s and iPhone 6 plus, and did not connect to my MacBook Pro running iStopmotion at all.

### 1/5 — Won’t connect

*2016-05-07, version 3.0*

No response to issues, cannot connect between MacBook Pro and IPhone 6. Asked but no response on how to get a refund.

### 1/5 — Should not have wasted my time with an app that doesn't work

*2016-05-03, version 3.0*

Title says it all. Loses connection, prompts me to choose another camera then re choose remote. Over and over. Disgusting.

### 1/5 — Not connecting

*2016-05-01, version 3.0*

I am using an iPad Pro and it will not connect to my MacBook Pro.

### 1/5 — Suite

*2016-04-24, version 3.0*

Beaucoup de bug inutilisable, ce n'est pas une app à 1 dollars

### 1/5 — Great idea but it doesn’t work….

*2016-04-22, version 3.0*

It’s a great idea but it doesn’t work and the problem has been know for a while. It won’t connect with its companion application so its worthless. There is beta out that is supposed to fix the issues but it hasn’t made it to the App store.

### 1/5 — Ne fonctionne plus !

*2016-04-06*

### 1/5 — BLEH

*2016-04-02, version 3.0*

If I could give it zero stars I would. It wouldn't connect and I know my wifi was working fine. I tried again and it still won't connect.

### 1/5 — Not working properly

*2016-03-18, version 3.0*

Connection is fine, but nothing on the ipad screen when connected to iphone as remote camera

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Its great!

*2020-03-19, version 4.0*

I love this app, i use it all the time at school working on my projects, its also really fun!

### 1/5 — Awful

*2018-10-10, version 3.1*

The iPad app is intuitive and fun to use. This companion camera app is hopeless. You can take about 8 frames before it disconnects from the iPad and then the app needs restarting. This then results in multiple entries for the camera choices on the iPad. Incredibly frustrating.

### 1/5 — Rubbish

*2018-03-25, version 3.1*

Takes ages to connect to the internet I put the password in and it still not connected

### 1/5 — Can’t get it to work - crashes frequently

*2018-01-28, version 3.1*

It will connect but not for long. Connection drops frequently and that causes the iStopmotion app to crash. As one of the other reviews stated: great idea if it actually worked. I hope the developer can fix it. At least it was free.

### 1/5 — Very buggy

*2018-01-06, version 3.1*

App is very buggy, there is a delay when ever you snap a shot, image is very pixelated, and overall user interface is unresponsive, doesn't crash but has too many bugs to ever get anything done, id ask for a refund but doesn't seem like the developers have done anything to the app in years so i probably wont get a response.

### 1/5 — Image remains static

*2017-06-06, version 3.1*

Got my laptop to recognize my phone sounded like everything was working, however the first test images I shot all came out like a staticky TV screen.

### 1/5 — Such a shame this doesn't work

*2017-04-27, version 3.1*

We have the full iStopMotion app and it's brilliant. However, filming from the iPad is clunky so we invested in a cheap camera stand and an iPhone attachment thinking the iStop Remote Camera app would be the perfect solution. Unfortunately the connection is terrible. The image quality is useless: a massive lag and often so pixilated you can't see the objects. Even at its best the image quality is too low to be able to see the 'onion skin' image on the main screen, which is this app's biggest selling point. We have really high speed, high quality wifi and I made sure nothing else in the house was running on it at the time. I also frequently use remote cameras on the same network for things like video conferencing, so it's not a network issue. I'm going to try disabling HD on my iPhone to see if that helps, but as we're using an iPad Pro with HD function I doubt it. At the moment it's unusable, which is a massive shame because if it worked the whole iStop package would be phenomenal. I would still recommend the main app, but only if you're not planning to use it for a project that will rely on a remote camera.

### 1/5 — L'application sur IMac plante

*2017-01-21*

À chaque tentative de jumelage avec un iPhone (j'en ai essayé plusieurs) l'appli sur le mac plante...
Vraiment chère et inutilisable
Faites quelque chose pour corriger ça!

### 1/5 — Performance is so bad it's unusable

*2016-12-26, version 3.1*

Both iPhone and iPad are connected to same wifi, but the preview image on the iPad is terrible and when I take a picture the "delay expires" and t doesn't work

### 1/5 — Great idea if it actually worked

*2016-12-06, version 3.1*

Most apps at least work, even if they're buggy. This app does not even work. It's been trying to connect with my iMac which has istopmotion 3 installed, all night. Never once. Read through dozens of forums and changed all sorts of settings. At some point, you gotta give up and call it like it is--this app is a PoS.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Works well, needs more features!

*2024-04-04, version 4.0*

The app works perfectly, but you need a wired connection. I think a few people missed this.

The app works as intended but is very limited. No manual focus, or real exposure lock. No ability to adjust shutter speed or ISO. Very bare bones.

I just wish I could get it to work with my 5Dmark III, since I love it so much. Thanks for making such a great app. I don’t know why other peopled reviewed that it did not work. I suggest updating all your systems. It works great on the iphone 5s and the newest ipad.
