From the day I purchased it I’ve been disappointed by the issues I’ve had. On my M4 IPad Pro it almost always displays the hz multiple octaves up (frequently double.) Also I cannot get my interface for my guitar to work with this app. It’s recording and sending input to the iPad but nothing is coming through to the app. I’m not sure if this is even meant to be supported but I resorted to trying it considering I could never get it to work normally. On my iPhone 15 Pro the app works almost seamlessly if I put my phone extremely close to the guitar. Any further away and it can’t hear it even on boost mode with the noise filter on. I tried turning them off and no input. It jumps octaves much less on the phone but it still does it frequently enough to be annoying. Some of this could be user error but I didn’t change any settings after downloading the app. In general the app works well enough and I’m sure the good reviews reflect good experiences. I just didn’t have a great experience myself. ### 4/5 — Almost perfect *2026-05-31, version 3.00* I really wanna use this for work on my iPad mini and country but I will say after not using it for a few minutes it freezes up and I have to restart it. Can do that mid show. ### 2/5 — not the best. *2025-12-02, version 3.00* I purchased this tuning app to get precise tuning, and i’ll admit it does it well, but for some reason it’s constantly stuck on “F#” and will be stuck like that unless i play a note really loud. ### 3/5 — It doesn’t recoginse the strings *2025-10-26, version 3.00* If I pick no matter which string, its strength is almost unusable for the tuner, the “string meter” shows a very weak sign. If I cough just a little, the sign is very strong, and shows immediately the “note of the cough”. What do I wrong? I have every Peterson strobe tuner at home, so I know, it should be working flawlessly… ### 4/5 — Where is CLA in the presets *2025-09-13, version 3.00* Good tuner. Worth the price but takes a little bit to get used to navigating the various menus and understanding all the acronyms. Very precise and could definitely tell the difference with my steel string guitar. One thing is finding stuff. Online I had read that the app had a classical guitar sweetener called CLA, but I can’t seem to find it. Ended up paying for the full sweetener bundle because I couldn’t seem to find where it was and still can’t. Maybe the developers can put a search feature in the sweetener section. Also if anyone knows where this CLA is let me know. Thanks. ### 5/5 — Solid tuner *2025-05-27, version 3.00* Perfect for brass players. Picks up great and the trumpet sound doesn’t distort the app. ### 5/5 — Really like this app! *2025-05-22, version 3.00* This app is useful for me. I am a vocalist with a strong singing voice. However, when I hear a note from a pitch pipe, I can’t always hit it. I sometimes sing a note in the chord harmony instead. I might be a major or minor third off. Always available especially when my primary Peterson Strobi HDC is out of juice. I play electric, acoustic, slide, classical, bass & banjo. But there is no way to find out until you buy the app that they, and many other features are (a lot) extra. Why not state this clearly so that buyers know what they are (and are not) getting for the advertised price. Honestly, this is not honest. ### 5/5 — Worth it!!! *2025-02-10, version 3.00* Very precise tuner, works very well ### 4/5 — Awesome app, but could use a couple improvements. *2025-01-31, version 3.00* I am a professional piano technician. While I have other professional piano tuning apps (ETDs), this app is very useful for certain aspects of piano tuning, especially the add-on “harmonics” feature. It is incredibly accurate and I am able to pinpoint pitch more precisely with this than my Peterson StroboPlus HDC. There is bug that I have alerted Peterson about, plus a feature that would be very useful not currently supported in the app. I mostly tone unequal temperaments, and when I chose Kirnberger III, for example, I have to set it to A 443 for it to produce A 440. Similarly, Kellner needs to be set to A 442.1. This is a huge inconvenience that really should be quickly corrected. Additionally, an app of this caliber should also have a feature to add other temperaments as does the Peterson StroboSoft HDC. If the bug listed was fixed and a temperament addition feature was added, I wouldn’t hesitate to give this a full 5 star review. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — No good for intonation *2026-01-26, version 3.00* I bought this to set intonation on a guitar. And it’s not any good for that. It just keeps turning gray like it can’t hear anything. It also has a function that when you hit a target note , or get close, it grays out and stops. You can’t turn that off either. Soo annoying. Waste of money. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t Work *2025-10-06, version 3.00* Doesn’t work on iOS 2. Everything is A#. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work as intended *2025-09-15, version 3.00* This has to be about the worst thing Peterson has designed- constantly flashes between notes when I’m trying to tune an acoustic guitar in a whisper quiet studio environment- i don’t know how it can’t distinguish between an E and A string. Notes just don’t seem to track well, seems to be a sensitivity issue / calibration between mic input and the strobe UI. Love my strobostomp but this app isn’t worthy of the Peterson name. ### 1/5 — Nearly useless for electric guitar *2024-12-14, version 3.00* I have a Peterson strobo clip tuner which I love to use, and I also like the sweetened tunings. However, this app can only use the microphone for its input. If you are using a guitar interface and amp sim for iPad or iPhone, you can only tune acoustically using the microphone, which does not work for a noisy environment. Huge bummer. ### 1/5 — Deceptive business practices *2024-11-12, version 3.00* The initial purchase price unlocks a crippled version of the app, and it is $60 to get a discounted bundle of features. I bought this to basically preview the method the hardware uses to tune, and now I’m totally put off and will be buying another brand of strobe tuner. In-app purchases shouldn’t be displayed as app features you get for your initial also high prices for an app $9.99. I wish Apple made it easier to get a refund. Is just insane! There is also zero mention in the app screenshots or description about these features behind locked behind a paywall. The app should either give everything it has to offer as part of the initial price. I’d give this a 6 out of 5 rating if only they’d include classical guitar in their sweetened tunings ### 5/5 — Peterson 1 *2026-02-21, version 3.00* Anyone that doesn’t have a Peterson Tuner needs to look in a mirror and ask themselves what they are doing with their lives. This app does a lot and can be intimidating but the Sweetners are worth it and it takes time to understand it all. If you have questions contact Petersons Customer Service they are always willing to help and is one of the reasons why they have been in business for over 70 years. The only thing I wish they would add to the app is the ability to link my iPhone or iPad to my StroboPlus HDC with this app. My laptop died and have no way of changing out the tunings I currently have loaded on it. ### 5/5 — The best tuner you will ever have. *2026-02-17, version 3.00* Title says it all. ### 5/5 — AUV3 & easy access to 440 please *2026-01-18* This tuner is most accurate on the market.
