I had a complaint about how I feel they treated an amazing teacher of mine unfairly and prevented me from continuing my learning with him. I tried to register this complaint six or seven different ways. ZenDesk form, no confirmation. Support email, no answer. Support bot, claims I am being transferred to a human, human never arrives. Corporate email, nothing. I can’t so much as get an automated reply with a ticket number assigned. I’m beginning to question if any humans still work there. Anti competitive and heartless. ### 1/5 — Funktioniert leider nicht *2026-06-28* Direkt nach dem Anlegen eines neuen Kontos wurde mir ein total überladener Bildschirm mit einer Menge nutzloser Informationen angezeigt, die erstmal weggeklickt werden müssen. Damit ich einen störenden Button zur "Adoption eines Fisches" los wurde, der beim Lernen motivieren soll, musste ich Infobildschirme durchklicken und dem Fisch einen Namen geben. Das fand ich sehr störend, da der Button wirklich erst verschwindet, wenn der Fisch einen Namen hat. Sinnloses Feature. Letztendlich brach ich ab, da ich wiederholt die Bestätigungsmail zur Anmeldung versendet und bestätigt habe aber mein Konto dennoch nicht freigeschaltet wurde. Schade. **Developer response:** Hallo! Second, it’s really hard to find a good teacher here. Many of the tutors don’t actually know how to teach. They just give you pointless exercises to fill up the lesson instead of helping you improve. You cannot call and their support service is so unprofessional. One of the girl's name was Rosa from support she has an attitude too. One of their teachers took my money and the support just said "get the teacher to agree to give you a refund" then the teacher blocked me. ### 1/5 — Insufficient Information About Course Hours Before Purchase *2026-06-08* Before purchasing the course, there was no clear or noticeable information about the course expiration date. I assumed I would have enough time to complete the lessons and planned my study schedule accordingly. Later, I found out that the course had a time limit, which prevented me from finishing all the content. This was very disappointing and resulted in a loss of value from my purchase. **Developer response:** Hello there! Thanks for your review! Ever since the poor and unnecessary redesign it’s so difficult to be able to do basic tasks within the app and the video is constantly lagging in picture and sound despite a very high speed connection. A year ago, great platform. Now, not so much. ### 1/5 — Paid 30$ for a test in the app I can’t even use, and they won’t refund me *2026-05-25, version 4.24* Italki recommended I take their proficiency test and buy the $30 package. My profile lists Latvian as my sole learning goal. After purchase, I discovered in the small print that the test doesn't support Latvian, it only covers Spanish and a handful of other languages. In other words: the app recommended a product to me that it already knew wasn't compatible with my account. I never used the test. I contacted support within an hour to request a refund and was refused, citing policy. So I've paid $30 for a product I literally cannot use, that was recommended to me by an app that already knew it didn't apply to my language. I'm not asking for an exception to a policy I knowingly violated, I'm asking why a policy is being applied to a purchase the app itself prompted in error. I genuinely love italki. I pay for premium monthly, love my instructor, and the app is a real part of my learning routine. That's why this is so disappointing, Id really like to keep being a happy premium customer. Please make this right.
