### 2/5 — Became slow and unusable

*2026-04-16*

Initially this was a good choice for my plant collection and tracking other items. However after entering over 3000 items the app began to slow down and hang at various points when adding new information and photos. This made it essentially unusable. After several unsuccessful attempts to get customer support I am moving everything to other apps. Really not worth the money to be honest.

### 4/5 — とても良いアプリだけど...

*2026-04-12, version 6.0.18*

### 3/5 — Great potential— could be better.

*2026-01-06, version 6.0.12*

Some of the features are unstable and close the app.

### 2/5 — Great if you only own 20 items

*2025-09-06, version 5.5.15*

Otherwise, a major waste of time

### 2/5 — Big changes and not good for me

*2025-08-12*

The interface has changed dramatically and basically has made it useless to me as an app.
It may be because the changes haven’t been explained to me, but some basic functions seemed to have disappeared and I am unable to find them no matter what I do.
This is a IT person with 40+ years experience.
May up dumping my records and finding another app that meets my simplistic needs.

**Developer response:** Hi Canuck. We've definitely updated many things over the past few months as we expand our capabilities. Happy to jump on a call for a review with you if you would like that. Within the App, please use the Menu 'Options and More', then Feedback and let us know what time works for you.

### 4/5 — Great free and flexible app

*2025-07-31, version 5.5.15*

Excellent for inventory of my large bespoke collection. Allows you to add your own categories and keep count, although recent updates have removed ability to account for duplicates in totals. Great search function.

### 3/5 — 建議

*2025-07-26, version 5.5.15*

總體來說很方便，但免費版限制太多功能，希望能推出一次買斷版本。使用約三年，閃退問題未改善、編輯類別的詳細項目無法儲存、每次貼上圖片都需多按一次是否同意，這些問題若能改善會更好。

### 2/5 — Free Version Unusable

*2025-06-21*

This review is ONLY for others like me looking for a free cataloging app. Unless you have less than 20 items, don’t bother downloading.

I was simply looking for something easier than taking photos and adding text to it. The app tells you some things that you need the premium version for. But what it didn’t tell me was that I could only log 20 items. It told me I had a limited number of categories and reports. None of which I really needed, as I intended to just log my collectibles into 2 or 3 categories. However, only having 20 items able to be logged in free version makes this entirely unusable in that regard. I gave it 2 stars because I’m sure it’s great as a paid service, but I’m not paying $80/year for something I CAN do for free.

### 3/5 — Wanted to Like - Just Didn’t Work Out for Me

*2025-06-21*

I really wanted to like this app and decided to try the premium for a month. I am finding it just doesn’t work for me.

PROS:
* easy to navigate
* ability to enter lots of information and file types about items
* built in photo editing works well for showcasing items
* ability to link multiple groups to one item (see cons though for down side)
* can see how multiple locations is a nice feature

CONS:
* The UPC feature to log items in collections is spotty at best. For example, a handful of items would scan but then all details were in a different language for unknown reason rendering scan pretty useless. Another is the scans do not come through with consistent information and/or information does not pull in with same format. That may be outside of app control but once again for someone that wants to showcase their collection in uniform/neat manner you spend more time correcting scan data than would just typing it in.

* Exporting of reports/heading groups was not ideal. If exporting item group items to PDF the items are on the PDF in order they were entered. There is no apparent option to put them in alphabetical order other order before printing the PDF. My desire to have clean report list of items does not seem possible. If exporting all detail from items to an excel the item name is one column and then all other data gets lumped into the second column. What is the point of exporting to excel if all the details and data gets lumped into one unsortable or column that can’t be filtered by data point?

* Though nice feature to link multiple groups to one item cannot seam to link all at one time when entering item in first time. Have to select one, save item and then go back in and add second link. Unable to figure out how to link multiple groups to one item upfront. So extra steps.

Those cons for me along with a bit higher premium cost are having me try elsewhere at this point.

Maybe I’ll try again down the road but….

### 3/5 — Horribly buggy

*2025-05-30, version 5.5.15*

Keep clicking on links that are either super slow or shut the app down.

### 4/5 — Almost perfect

*2025-05-06*

I’m giving it a 4 out of 5 because of the cost. It’s a really well-designed app, almost covering all sports, but the monthly price is a bit steep. There’s no option for a lifetime payment, so if you pay for something like this, you’ll keep paying this “forever”

### 2/5 — Not very great

*2025-05-03*

Only able to have 20 items on the free plan, that doesn’t even cover a single room so it’s a pointless app for me.

**Developer response:** Hi Pumpkinandthea, The purpose of the free trial is more about letting you test the flow, modify or create custom item types, upload images, see how things are displayed and enjoy trying unlimited receipts, notes and more. You can delete items to go past 20, but the trial is about ensuring we're a good fit - and not about how many items may be in a room.

### 4/5 — Good App, Great Developer

*2025-05-01*

This app has proved very useful to me in a professional sense. I use it to inspect and rate industrial equipment at my customer’s sites. I initially had issues with the app and found that the developer is super responsive and very detailed in their communications, investigations, and solutions. This is really rare among iOS developers (I have 400+ apps on my phone)! Kudos!

The only issue I have with the app is that I would like to be able to access all of the photos I take with it either within my Photos app or as a download of the actual image files (not a PDF or web browser view). Get that in the app and this is 5-stars for sure!

### 2/5 — It’s Crashtastic!

*2025-04-30*

I want to love this app, but it crashes non-stop on both iPad and Mac, making it only usable on iPhone. I use it cautiously on the iPhone, but there are issues there that are insurmountable. If you take multiple photos for an item, there is no way to export to Excel or PDF with all of the photos, and there is no way to mass export just the photos (only one at a time). The app will create a website with all of the photos, but that doesn’t help when you want to create a report for insurance, a client, your parents, etc. Sure, you can take photos with the camera app, but then you have to go through the tedious effort of importing them into Itemtopia, thereby duplicating your efforts.

Crashing knocked the rating down three stars and the issue with the photos knocked it down another half. Since I can’t give 1½ stars, it gets two.

Fix the issues and this could easily be a five star app!

### 2/5 — Looks great but I am unable to add photos or take photos.

*2025-03-21*

This looks perfect but I am unable to add photos.

**Developer response:** There is a pop up message the very first time you go to add a photo or select one from your library. It asks for permission, and it's an Apple confirmation message that all applications have. Apple controls it, not Itemtopia. If you mistakenly said 'no' to the popup, it's easy to do manually. In the Apple OS settings, just select Itemtopia and give it access to allow you select photos from Itemtopia. Then you're all set.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Missing features

*2026-06-24*

The app is well thought out to keep track of items WITHIN the app. The export feature does not include item pictures, nor notes such as regular item description, etc.
This is exactly what you would need to make full use of your own data outside the app…

### 1/5 — Have to buy to use!

*2026-01-24, version 6.0.16*

No way to test before dumping 50bucks down on an app that may or may not work for your needs. No trial just notifications to buy premium if you want to use features such as adding an item.

### 1/5 — Functionality has plummeted

*2026-01-10*

Initially the app worked very well. However, I now have over 3,000 items listed and the functionality has plummeted. With recent updates several annoying glitches have occurred and there are lengthy hang times when trying to load photos. The app is also a massive drain on my phone battery.
I have reached out to customer support several times with no response.
I use this for my business and I can not recommend it for users that want to store large amounts of items.

### 1/5 — Glitchy! Try free version first!

*2026-01-10*

This app was recommended to me by a trusted source, and I took their word and purchased the app based my trust in their recommendation. Boy was I wrong and my friend has not heard the end of it yet. The app was glitchy when just getting started by creating fields. They would disappear, not be visible or would overlap each other. It was crazy and frustrating. It made no sense whatsoever. I closed the app restarted my iPhone, it didn’t matter. It would still do the same thing. so, don’t make the mistake and lose $49 because they will not refund it. Make sure the app works before you go for the paid version Try to enter fields and features and make sure there’s no glitching as I experienced. It was immediately evident this program was not going to work for me.

### 1/5 — Disappointing

*2025-12-10*

I really wanted to like this app, but it’s just not practical. The interface is confusing, things don’t sync properly, and basic tasks take way too many steps. I kept running into glitches and missing features that should be standard by now. After trying to make it work for a few weeks, I finally gave up and deleted it. There are better, smoother options out there

**Developer response:** Hi Cedarcapital. We're also disappointed. Itemtopia supports syncing across devices and sharing your account other people when you are logged in with the correct (same) account. You can even control what others can see and do. In fact, thousands of people rely on those features daily. We appreciate and understand the app may not be the right fit for everyone, but we appreciate you giving it a try.

### 1/5 — 閃退

*2025-06-05, version 5.5.15*

閃退問題很嚴重！刪除東西或只是操作一下就一直閃退

### 1/5 — Not enough Storage to use this Long-term

*2024-09-15*

I truly want to like itemtopia, but their premium version only allows up to 3000 items. Even if they upgrade it later and give you 4 GB instead of two, it’s simply not enough if you truly use this for everything in your home. I pin collection alone is several thousand pins. The overall interface looks like it’s customizable, but many features you cannot try until you have a pro account, so you cannot get a full test drive. Also, it is a bit deceiving at $50 for the first year and 79 for the second year and on. Overall, the goal is for the program is to truly be able to document everything in your home, take pictures of everything you have, every book, every painting, every item for your collection, etc., along with receipts, that takes up quite some space. I like having in the cloud as it would be available on all my devices, but simply it’s just enough room. If you use similar software like Under My Roof, you could at least store it in your iCloud, and then you would not be limited by their space constraints. That does have some downsides, though, you are stuck to Apple devices, which is fine for me now, but not sure if that would always be the case 10 years from now. So the two main frustrations are the inability to see all of the features without paying for premium, and also just how limited you are. Remove the maximum number of items and storage or provide an option to use iCloud storage. Buy if you did the second, you would need to reduce the cost since you would not be paying for storage and bandwidth.

**Developer response:** Our premium version does NOT have a limit of Items. It is unlimited. In fact some of our users own many buildings and homes (or they are building managers), and they use Itemtopia to track everything in them. Not a single user has ever exceeded what we provide - ever! Having used Itemtopia personally for 10 years and never deleting any of the data for 5 homes, I have used 1.02GB. By the time I approached the present limit, the data limit would have also increased as storage sizes have grown 5 times in the past 10 years. The current 'soft limit' is there just in case a user decides to abuse Itemtopia as their personal image storage drive or personal DropBox. We are not Dropbox. We are Itemtopia.

### 1/5 — Used to love before putting locations behind paywall

*2024-06-28*

I used to think this was the perfect organizational app. Everything I wanted and I logged a lot of things in there then just recently they want to charge a subscription service for what we were getting for free. I’d be OK with a one time purchase but these subscription apps are ridiculous. if there was any other app like this doesn’t charge us subscription let me know.

**Developer response:** Hi again Marcus. Hope things are well. Just want to understand this. You want to pay nothing for everything? We can do that! If you can find how to operate our services for Itemtopia that allow for free data storage, free encryption for syncing devices and updating all users, and free encrypted backup, we promise to update things to also be free. Oh, and we need a way to have staff work for free. Maybe they can stay at your house?

You wrote: "I used to think this was the perfect organizational app. Everything I wanted and I logged a lot of things in there." From Us. Thank you. That's what a decade of refinement does. It's fantastic, and, it's on-going. A one-time payment will never work, as operating systems on devices change so much. Even selecting library photos required updates for that reason. As you know, our service includes things which on-going expenses. Encrypted servers, in case you need to access the data from another device, or for backup. Sync Servers, so we update any other people you've shared Itemtopia with. UPC data services, updates for changes to operating systems, etc etc. We hear you, and we do offer an annual plan at a good discount, and a Lite version with a few less bells and whistles is coming too. Within the App, use the Contact us option and support can share more about that.

### 1/5 — la versión gratis solo puede subir 20 artículos!!

*2024-02-24, version 5.5.13*

### 5/5 — So Many Great Features

*2026-06-21*

I moved from an inventory app to Itemtopia and I can’t say enough about how much I’m enjoying it. Itemtopia is feature rich and, for my usecase, which is collectables, it has created several new possibilities. Considering features like hierarchical grouping, customizable data model, flexible display options and now web publishing, it’s clear that the app designers are being thoughtful about how to expand the app’s usefulness. And, they’re putting their ideas into action - it’s fun exploring new features when they appear. I highly recommend this app.

### 5/5 — Just the app a collector needs

*2026-06-21*

I moved from another inventory app to Itemtopia a few months ago and I can’t say enough about the functionality this app contains. The app can be used for many different usecases, but mine is collecting and the user experience is great. I’ve found new ways to organize and display my collection thanks to Itemtopia’s native functionality, from flexible grouping strategies, document retention and organization, and data model design to publishing websites with collectable information, it’s incredibly adaptable and capable. Support is incredible and, importantly, the app is continually being improved. I love seeing new capabilities come on-line and thinking about how I might use them.

### 5/5 — Track and Manage Everything

*2025-12-12, version 6.0.10*

This is a home operating system. Keeps track of family, contacts and all your inventory. Developers have constantly been iterating this app with new features. Well done.

### 5/5 — Awesome Support

I was experiencing a very minor issue. I reached out to the support team and they helped me immediately work through the issue without any delay. I would recommend this to anyone who needs help or organizing.

Such a helpful app! Finally have a place to store all of my receipts so they do not get lost, and ensure all my belongings are tracked for insurance. Highly recommended
