## What is iTrailog?

iTrailog is a GPS track recorder for hikes, rides and road trips. Record every trip, then open it again later: each day is laid out by time and place — where you set off, where you ended up, where you stopped and what you photographed — and you can follow the same route again.

Relive the whole trip
· Multi-day trips are split by local date into Day 1, Day 2… with each day's start, end, places passed and how long you stayed
· Tap a day on the map to light up only that day's route
· Photos and videos from the trip are placed back on the track by the time they were taken; flip through them along the route with altitude and place

Reliable recording
· Keeps recording on the Lock Screen and in the background; pauses automatically when you stop and resumes when you move
· Recovers if the system closes the app — no lost tracks
· Live Activity on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island
· On Apple Watch: start, pause, mark waypoints and view the map and track

Maps, offline maps and navigation
· OpenStreetMap (vector and topographic), cycling maps, satellite imagery and official maps for the US, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Switzerland and France
· Offline maps: download an area by rectangle, by circling it with your finger, or along a track, and keep using the map with no signal
· Follow a recorded or shared track in either direction, with alerts when you go off route, get back on it and arrive, plus optional voice guidance
· Go To a waypoint: direction and straight-line distance, with an alert when you arrive
· Navigate with or without recording; each starts and ends on its own
· Waypoints: long-press the map or mark where you are — parking, water, camp

Stats and files
· Elevation profile, total ascent and descent, distance, time, average speed and pace for every track
· Import and export GPX, KML and KMZ, from Files or shared from other apps

Your routes are yours
· No account, no ads
· Tracks and waypoints back up to your own iCloud, so deleting the app or changing phones loses nothing; nothing goes through our servers, no third-party analytics SDKs
· Anonymous usage statistics and crash reports can be turned off in Map & Settings

Optimized for iPhone Duo: a big map when open, just as easy on the outer display when closed.

Available in 8 languages. Feedback: Map & Settings › Feedback in the app, or hello@itrailog.com.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.4 — 2026-10-29

· Offline maps: download an area by drawing a rectangle, circling it with your finger, or along a track, and keep using the map with no connection. Downloads carry on in the background and you're notified when they finish.
· Lost your connection? If this map has nothing downloaded here, iTrailog tells you, and offers another map that does.
· New: Go To. Pick a waypoint to get its direction and straight-line distance, with an alert when you arrive.
· Navigation and recording are now separate: navigate without recording, or start a navigation in the middle of a recording, and end each on its own. Navigation shows at the top of the map.
· When you're only navigating, the Lock Screen, Dynamic Island and Apple Watch show the direction and distance too.
· If the app is closed, your navigation picks up again when you reopen it.
· Rate iTrailog from Map & Settings

### 1.3 — 2026-10-25

· New map: OpenStreetMap Vector. Sharp at any zoom, place names in the app's language, and light or dark to match Map Appearance.
· New maps: worldwide satellite imagery (Sentinel-2), plus official maps and aerial imagery for the US, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Switzerland and France. Maps for your region come first in the list; the rest are under Maps of Other Regions.
· Open-source maps are now drawn by a new map engine, so they're sharper on high-resolution screens. Switching maps keeps you where you are.
· While you zoom, the zoom level shows next to the zoom buttons.
· The track menu now has icons, so options are easier to find.

### 1.2 — 2026-10-24

· 8 languages: English, 简体中文, 繁體中文, 日本語, 한국어, Español, Français and Deutsch. Place names, dates and numbers follow the language you choose — switch it anytime in Map & Settings.
· iPhone Duo: both the outer and inner screens are supported. Unfolded or in landscape, tapping a photo opens a floating card beside the map, so you see the picture and where it was taken at the same time.
· Trim Track: open a track, choose Trim Track and set a new start and end on the map to cut off the extra bits at either end.
· Units follow your region: miles and feet in the US and other imperial regions, kilometers and meters elsewhere. Change them anytime in Map & Settings.
· New map: Apple Satellite (Imagery Only), with no roads or labels in the way of the terrain.
· Live Activities on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island now use the app's language.
· A short Feature Tour on first launch — replay it anytime from Map & Settings.
· Fixed some tracks whose line could jump back and forth.

### 1.1 — 2026-10-21

· iCloud sync: tracks and waypoints are kept in your own iCloud, so they come back after deleting the app or moving to a new iPhone, and stay in sync across iPhones signed in to the same Apple Account. Only you can see them; nothing goes through our servers.
· Back up to iCloud Drive: each track is also saved as a GPX file in Files › iCloud Drive › 行迹, ready to share or open in other apps.
· Photo matching: "Location Match" shows only photos taken within 100 m or 500 m of the track; "By Time Only" shows every photo taken on the way. Screenshots and screen recordings no longer appear.
· Local times: tracks show the time where they were recorded — a hike in Los Angeles shows Los Angeles time, labelled when it differs from your phone.
All of these are in Map & Settings.
