### 4/5 — My 5 year old says, "I love it!"

*2012-05-14*

This is well done. The story is engaging and the pictures are wonderful. I just wish it had a bit more for the price. Maybe an update with another story? Or an add on with more of an interactive nature?

### 3/5 — Pretty basic

*2012-01-13*

Nothing like Morris Lessmore's book. In fact, this book is completely static, it's highlights only include sound effects and changing of zoom level!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Needs way more features for price asked

*2011-04-28*

My 4 yr old was bored with this after the first time using it. Not interactive enough. There are better free apps than this. Until they upgrade this significantly, look elsewhere.

### 2/5 — Left Wanting

*2012-12-31, version 1.09*

Decent but left wanting for price - no animation, few pages, solely focused on t-rex. Son finished in like 5 min.

### 2/5 — Kind of boring

*2012-06-14, version 1.09*

My son was not overly impressed.

### 2/5 — Boring - Expected More

*2012-05-22*

With this being by the Smithsonian, I expected more. A few of the page transitions were only close-ups of the previous page. It's digital, but there aren't any animations. No dinosaurs running or fighting, no birds flying or trees swaying. We should be able to touch the T-Rex and make his mouth open & close, at least. This app should cost between Free - $.99. I should've downloaded Jurassic Park or Dinosaur Train. Don't say I didn't warn you! Purchase at your own risk!

### 2/5 — Wierd and boring

*2011-04-29, version 1.08*

And the guy says tynrranasaurus Rex sooo many time. And the artwork isn't really that good. Really like the dr Seuss books. This one not so much.

### 3/5 — Her sound

*2026-02-25*

It’s not a bad story, but it would be enhanced if they had her make her familiar growling sound.

### 3/5 — Well done...

*2013-03-04*

...nice music, but i would like to have more effects.

### 3/5 — Too bland

*2012-07-01, version 1.09*

My 6-y.o. son didn't ask any questions about what he saw and heard in the book - generally a sign a book was of only moderate interest. As he's currently asking 100's of questions about which critters eat what for lunch, the missing 'scary bits' are exactly the sort of thing he would have enjoyed. Pity. I would also have liked to see something at the end about fossils etc. I think the Smithsonian could have added a bit more of the science. Overall ok, but not brilliant.

### 3/5 — Not bad...

*2012-05-28*

My two year old son thinks it is great. You can touch the dinosaurs and the app will say the name. It is a book. The words are written on the screen, and when you touch each word, the app says the word for you, making it a good aid to in learning to read. On each new page, the app reads the next part of the story aloud.

It was a bit juvenile for my 12 year old daughter, who wants to be a paleontologist. She has a vast knowledge base of dinosaurs, and believes the app to be somewhat elementary for her. She thinks the app should end with Barney the dinosaur singing "I Love You, You Love Me."

It is, however a good early tool.

### 3/5 — Pretty good, but some flaws

*2012-05-21*

First of all, the mispronunciation of Ankylosaurus is annoying. This is a book about dinosaurs - at least get their names correct. My four year old was exasperated and said, "Why does he keep saying ankylosaurus wrong?"

It would also benefit from additional detail at the end. The "About Tyrannosaurus Rex" section is pretty weak and has little real information.

That said, son did enjoy the story.

### 5/5 — T Rex

*2012-06-20*

Awesome app. Definitely worth its money. My son loves it. He watches it over and over again and it s really educational. The app is really nice done with great sounds and pictures.

### 5/5 — T-Rex

### 5/5 — Very nice app.

*2012-06-09, version 1.09*

Good app! about Dino. But It lacks the big Alasourus

### 5/5 — Great app for autistic son!

*2012-05-21*

My autistic son's area of interest is dinosaurs, and he's learning to read. He only likes non-fiction and only books with realistic pictures. I have a hard time finding realistic Dino books with narrative flow. This app is perfect! We want more just like this!!! Love that when you tap pics, the narrator gives accurate Dino names, too!

### 5/5 — Great

*2012-05-05, version 1.09*

My 6 year old son loves it...and so do I!!!!!!

### 5/5 — Great for kids

*2012-04-29, version 1.08.1*

My son loves dinosaurs and this app was perfect for him

### 5/5 — Great App!

*2012-01-26, version 1.08.1*

This is a great app. My 2 year old loves it!

### 5/5 — A great way to educate and entertain your kids

*2012-01-15*

Most apps only last a few minutes with my daughter, but this one kept her engaged for hours. She kept listening to it again and again, to the point where my wife and I had it memorized. I thought the book might be too hard for a 4 year old, but because the app read to her, it was no problem at all. I think t Rex is her new favorite word.
