I decided to try with an old phone I had that no longer receives updates. App worked flawless with the old phone. I have used the app with my new phone. iPhone 12 mini. But after a couple years the 12 mini no longer worked with the app. Hope this helps. Still don’t recommend the app. But this might make it possible to use for some. I have been waiting forever and I guess it must just be junk and not worth it. Too bad because if it was worth a crap I would be running it on my GT500 and my Raptor. Sad....I even bought one in hopes it would get update and NOPE! Didn't even try it, when you get warnings that the app is junk when you open it, well that's not good. ### 3/5 — BAMA! SCT! ITSX! Read! ⬇️ *2016-09-23, version 1.8* The app works. The tunes transfer and what not but this thing is old, outdated, slow, ugly, buggy and sometimes doesn't work. I don't regret purchasing but i do with that this thing i paid so much for would be kept up. Needs more tuning options, advanced options and better less buggy dataloging. 3/5 due to insustainability. ### 2/5 — Wireless tuner *2016-04-26, version 1.8* Pain in the butt and should have just bought regular sct tuner with cable to direct connect. The wireless never connects when I want it to and end up staring at a loading screen the whole time just for it to say error. I was told to update the firmware and that would fix it but of course it was already up to date. I spent $350 on this thing and haven't been able to tune my vehicle. ### 1/5 — App does not work *2015-07-22, version 1.8* Purchased the iTSX because it's supposed to work through your iPhone instead of needing a PC to upload your tunes. The app will not allow you to save a custom tune from an email to the app. I tried restarting and uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Nothing. All it does is open the app. I do not get the option to save the file. When I reached out to the company I purchased the product from he said if that doesn't work I'd need to plug the iTSX to my windows computer to upload the file. I only own Mac's and this defeats the purpose of my paying more for this device over the other, cheaper model. ### 2/5 — Works when if feels like it *2014-01-12, version 1.8* I had this since September. It is a fight every time I try to load a tune or return to stock then try to reload a tune. I have done everything from a factory reset to updating the firmware and deleting the app to restoring my iPad. Always the same story. I get a failed to setup accessory message 9 out of 10 times. Then all of a sudden it works, and will stay working till the next time I go to use it. Could never get it to work on my iPhone 5 for whatever reason. Only works sometimes on my iPad 3. Thankfully I have both or I would have had to return it. Then when you finally get it to work, the app is horrible and needs updating. The gauges are cut off on the iPad and the keyboard fails to open when you need to type in the app, like vehicle weight or name a custom tune. Please pay attention here SCT and fix this stuff! ### 3/5 — Awesome idea needs some work. *2013-10-22, version 1.8* I loved the idea of this app and itsx. The thing that scares me is the app seems to disconnect from Bluetooth and ill have to erase app and reinstall for the Bluetooth to connect again. Also the app crashes sometimes which makes me hesitant to tune my truck as I don't want the app to crash while loading tune and creating problems for my truck. Is this app updated for the new apple iOS 7 software ? ### 3/5 — Updated *2013-08-28, version 1.8* Works great and connects automatically back to my gauges now! My previous review said it killed it. This will happen if you do not update your firmware. Still wish there was an option to customize gauges and backgrounds. finger crossed for the future, but I did wait awhile for this update. ### 3/5 — Needs a serious update! *2013-06-23, version 1.7* The tuning part is pretty simple and works grate. Only thing is the gauges are pretty boring and cartoon looking. Wish there was a better selection and customization of the gauges. Also my dash gauges go crazy while I have the itsx gauges open, not sure what that's all about. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Outdated *2024-03-02, version 1.9* I almost never leave app reviews but this one is junk. I had this on a 2005 Mustang GT and the unit itself died, luckily SCT sent another. The app barely works at this point, and now on my 2010 Explorer I can get it returned to stock because every time I click “program” the app locks up and freezes. Junk. ### 1/5 — Waste of $$ *2023-12-17, version 1.9* This is the worst app/ tuner. Never connects and when it does it takes 15 mins and you have to “forget” the Bluetooth device every time to reconnect and reset the device. How do they still sell these! Wish I had done some research! ### 1/5 — Derive app is horrible as is this *2020-05-17, version 1.9* I have the x4 tuner not sure at this point of tuner is just a horrible unit itself or if the only apps available to run it are the problem but I can’t get it to connect to any of my iPhones or iPad. It works fine on computer but I can’t drag my pc out to the car . The derive app o can’t even locate to add to my phone e to see if it will work there. It this app doesn’t do anything . Waste of money and never will get another ### 1/5 — Needs updates *2019-03-23, version 1.9* App shuts down every time gives me hell to connect the device and every time it fines a code unable to see the code apl just freezes over you have to close it to be able to work with it again app really needs an update completely put of date and issues still pending on app. ### 1/5 — For $399 this *should* be better than it is *2018-05-10, version 1.9* Free app, but if you’re shelling out $399 for tuner one expects more than just a file upload and ECU flash utility - and that’s basically all this is. There is little to no documentation on how to use the other available portions of the app to address the timer. Update firmware for the tuner doesn’t work. It’s really sad and disappointing. I’ll likely never buy another SCT product because of how this is not supported and my last experience with their RMA & Tech support processes. If you don't believe me check out the last time this app was update, it was in 2013 👎🏻 ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — iTSX is now my favourite! *2014-10-16, version 1.8* I knew as soon as I got this tuner it was gonna be more than I expected. Being able to have all my gauges displayed on my iPad or iPhone is great. I also love that everything can also be displayed on my Pioneer touch screen NAV stereo in my truck. App has run great a couple thing I would like to see changed but runs flawlessly so far! I highly recommend this tuner! Also great not having a tuner on my dash as stuff like that gets stolen where I live! ### 5/5 — Works very well but would like to see more options *2014-01-30, version 1.8* READ THE MANUAL AND UPDATE THE DONGLE BEFORE EVEN THINKING ABOUT ATTACHING TO YOUR VEHICLE! Also, hardwiring is an option to a laptop with their software. 2011 Camaro SS. Got a custom tune from JRE and the car is much better, no AFM! Make the AFM disable an out of the box option and the iTSX would be darn near perfect! ### 5/5 — Great tuner *2013-10-26, version 1.8* Love the tuner. Just thought of a great update. Since you can be connected to the truck while it is off and I range. Why not have it be able to dual as a command start. ### 5/5 — Must Update Dongle Firmware!!! *2013-10-19, version 1.8* You must update the dongle's firmware or you will not be able to change the car's ecu program. After I updated this app, I was no longer able to return the car's ecu back to stock. It would error out. After multiple try's of trouble shooting with SCT tech, they remotely accessed my laptop, with the dongle plugged in using the USB cord, and updated the firmware and some other files. All good now and works perfectly. As of now, it does not say on the app update that you must download the dongle firmware but since they are having so many tech calls, they are going to add it soon. I figured I let you guys know. I suggest updating both. I ordered the iTSX last week. It added an crazy amount of power to my F250 diesel truck and I also gained 3 mpg! My dad just ordered one for his truck for towing their 5th wheel. I guess the app is the just ok part. I have had 0 problems. And it is nice to have the additional features if I wish to use them ( gauges, performance test, data logging, holds up to 10 tunes, etc) I guess if you had some more parameters for gauges it would be cool as the one reviewer below wanted one back that was there on an earlier version. And iPhone 5 support for the larger screen would be nice. Just make sure you pair your car and the device, load the tune , and use the gauges and performance test if wish. Haven't used the performance test but I've done the gauges and it is cool. ### 4/5 — Holy power boost! *2012-04-02, version 1.4* Great tuner, the canned tunes make tons of power for my 03 6.0. The iPad gauges are really easy to read and let me monitor lots of important parameters. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is that when you turn the truck on you have to exit the program and restart it every time to get the gauges to work.
