It just starts to run a random sound in the background, and sometimes I can change some settings and sometimes I can’t. For the most part once that weird noise starts, I can’t change anything, can’t change to a different preset, etc., and I just have to close the program out and reboot it. I really want to like this app, but right now it just seems buggy and unusable for me, and I’m bummed that I wasted my money on it. I was considering also getting the matrix vocoder, but now I’m not so sure if I should. As inexpensive as these apps are, I’m low income and I really wish I could get a refund so I can buy something else that will work for me. I’ll be happy to change my review if this gets fixed, because it otherwise seems like it should be a really great app and I know other people have had success with it. ### 4/5 — Latest Update has broken a great app for older devices *2024-12-25* Sadly the iOS 18 compatibility update has broken it for me (accidentally/ stupidly updated to the latest version). I don’t have the storage space to update to 18 (on 17 running an old iPad Air 3). It now doesn’t recognise voxel changes or input and crashes regularly. It was an amazing app for me prior to this so I’m still giving it 4 stars. Any chance of a fix for older iPads? ### 2/5 — Outdated and Almost Broken *2021-02-15* There’s very little I can say that’s good about this. Want help with this app? Too bad. Look it up. Want to export something? Feel free to click help on all 9 tabs. Maybe you’ll figure it out, but if not: thanks for the $7. Now I’m off to buy a better app or a better alternative. What a waste of time. ### 2/5 — Disappointed *2019-08-23* It’s very difficult to get sounds above a whisper. Import button doesn’t work at all. At one time I could import audio by exporting from AudioShare, now that doesn’t work either. IAA doesn’t work in any setup I have tried. Au3 also doesnt work. They're awful to understand but they can be manipulated into something moderately useful. I bought this and audiobus, and it works with GarageBand randomly. I mean, exactly the same set up sometimes works and then next time you do it nothing comes out of ivoxel. Go into the app alone, no goddamn sound!! Close everything, open ivoxel again, works fine. Join the apps with audiobus and try again... no sound. Piece of utter rubbish don't waste your money. ### 1/5 — No AU, IAA or Audiobus 3 support *2018-05-27* What else is there to say? Ob auf dem iPhone oder iPad, leider bei beiden das gleiche Problem. ### 5/5 — Sehr coole und innovative App! *2017-03-28* Ich bin schon lange ein Fan von VirSyn, und benutze auch die Mac Software und finde sie grossartig! Dieser Vocalsynth hat es in sich: Der Charakter kann stufenlos zwischen Male und Female eingestellt werden, was wirklich ein unique Feature ist, es lassen sich beliebige (auch eigene) Vocal samples per Tastatur spielen. Midi funktioniert auch super. Zwei Sachen würde ich mir für ein Update (bitte auch IOS 9 kompatibel) wünschen: Ein "Stimmen" des aktuellen Sounds auf einen Referenzton zb A 440 Hz als "Automatische Funktion" wäre MEGA!! Und das Abspeichern eigener Presets funktioniert bei mir leider nicht, die geänderten Start- Loop und End-Marker im Sample werden nicht mitgespeichert. Nichts desto trotz, kann man mit dieser App Klänge zaubern die sich richtig "teuer" anhören, dafür gibts von mit 5 volle Sterne!!! The sequencer cannot be synced to any other like via ableton link. Just purchased today 5/13/22 after reading information about app in the listing. It’s not clear about the microphone connection. Seems like you will need irig 3.5 jack interface. Sound for vocoder only comes through headphone 3.5 jack? Lightning to usb interface does not work for mic connection to use as live vocoder after pressing mic icon. I don’t want to use the vocoder presets. So I cannot use unless I buy irig interface (over $100) not worth it. I have 2x interface units already. AUM does not recognize as IAA or AU, others claim Audiobus does as IAA (shoulder shrug). Lost $7 plus tax on this app, unless they update to au and allow sound to pass through lightning to usb for interface mic connection. Need to be CLEAR ON THAT IN THEIR LISTING. Can be 5 star with update guys! Lost money on this.😞, fingers crossed for update🤞 or I will delete app and move on. ### 1/5 — Tutorial is deceiving. *2021-02-19* I bought this app (iPhone) both because of the rave reviews and the tutorial on VirSyn’s own YouTube page showing external apps as a carrier. I tried it the way in the video, and it doesn’t work; it interprets the app as a Modulator, not carrier, and the mic doesn’t work at all. I’ve tried routing the mic and the carrier app on different channels while using the carrier as a wave, and still can’t get it to work. I can’t find any tutorials on this, and the VirSyn video is totally inaccurate, so I feel like I got ripped off. Even if I do find out how to do it eventually, it still shouldn’t take this much work. I bought the app then a member of my family was asked the price again. So disappointing. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Bad rating for potent app *2024-11-29* If you do not notice the volume knob (it is in a strange spot, but still, there it is), what do you do? Leave a bad review, delete the app. If there are too many functions to "figure out", and you take a manual as an insult, what do you do? Well, yes, you leave a nasty review and complain about wasting SEVEN dollars. Look, there are some quirky things in iVoxel that should have been addressed over time. Yes, the sequencer is slightly fiddly and balky, but it is there, with all the voxels at your disposal for tune writing for your choir of crazy, spectrally shaped voices. This is a remarkable vocal-sound-design tool (warts and all) musical with all sorts of uses. After all the years it has been on the app store, there is still nothing like it. That people have dragged this app down with lazy complaints here rather than sending them to the developer strikes me as odd. Maybe the developer is hard to reach? I have never found one of his apps so confusing I need to make contact. The app is worth exploring and enjoying, even in late 2024. It deserves to get some refinement and update love from Harry for the new year, but that is his call. ### 5/5 — The sounds are spot-on in my opinion *2022-08-23, version 2.9.2* I don’t know why this app has had so many bad reviews. I saw a demonstration of it on YouTube I thought it sounded amazing but hesitated buying it once I saw the bad reviews. Exactly what I was hoping it would be. The sound is perfect in my opinion. Jakob Haq just released a video on vocoders and in all honesty given that the app was on sale I decided to get it as he featured it A LOT. I was quite interested as I HATE inter-app audio and although Jakob isn’t as uptight about this as I am, if he was using an inter-app app, he probably had a reason. This app is a beast! Please fix it’s few issues (import button for example) and make this AUV3.
