Great search feature to narrow down your options as there are so many walks. En route guidance is descriptive and accurate, you get a ping just before a waypoint. Once downloaded the app doesn’t use data, just needs a GPS signal. Just filter the routes down to your preference, download the map (for a very small very worth it fee) and the app takes you from your house to car park and then automatically starts on the route! The GPS is so accurate it gives a little beep to let you know there is information with clear and precise directions. The map is clear and easy to see which way to walk. Also works perfectly with Apple Watch so you can just enjoy the walk! And the customer service is the best I have ever come across with an app. Simply faultless! The app does not state on the App Store that there are ‘in app purchases’!! ### 1/5 — Location doesn’t work, so frustrating! *2023-02-25* I walk to love this App but it’s so frustrating. It keeps telling me that location services are not enabled and so nothing works on the ap. No matter how many times I enable location for the ap it is never convinced and I keep getting stuck in a loop of opening the settings, checking location setting is on, and then back to the iWalk Ap which says location is switched off ?!?!?!! I have updated the ap and it makes no difference. Also I don’t see why you can’t just manually switch through the pages of the walk as you go through it, seeing the pictures and instructions as you go, without having to use the location setting. You can download a pdf of the instructions but it’s not so easy to understand without the map and pictures. Very frustrating! **Developer response:** Sorry to hear you had problems. It takes a while for Apple reviews to come through so this has only just reached me (the "Contact Us" mechanism in the app is generally the best option as this uses email so it's pretty instant). The current app version has been live for several months and has been used by thousands of people without any problems reported so it seems likely it's something fairly specific to your phone. With a bit more info ("contact us" via the app and include the diagnostic info) we'll see if we can help you to troubleshoot why your phone isn't returning the correct location permissions to the app. Kind regards, John. ### 1/5 — Pay for maps of walks? *2019-05-25* This stuff is free from the municipality, I mistakenly assumed this was produced to promote tourism, but it's made to line someones wallet. Also has a 2010 iOS feel. ### 2/5 — Feedback on St Nectans glen walk. *2024-03-05* The app is great, really accurate at keeping us on track or letting you know if you slightly go off course. Very helpful. We both said we’d have either not found the walk or got terribly lost without the app! The walk itself was average. The natural beauty of St Nectans in our view spoilt by the tacky naff shop, garden ornaments/statues, knickknack's in the area, really not needed as the waterfall itself is fabulous! They charged us £16 for 2 to walk down to see the waterfall, something surely everyone should be able to see not just those who can afford it? The quarry end of the walk was dull. There are a few changes to the path which I will let you know about also. Highlights were a beautiful sunny winters day, being out walking with a friend, the waterfall (although very expensive viewing of nature) and a beautiful ruin of an old Mill. Obviously as app developers and walk authors, the prices of attractions in Cornwall are outside our control but I've added a link for the walk to the prices to make it easier to research in advance before deciding to buy that walk vs others. The cafe and toilets can be accessed without paying to visit the waterfall so I've also added a note about that, and to the dogs section that the cafe is dog-friendly. Before I could start the app inundated me with requests and permissions. Health, location, photos, in app purchases etc etc. Deleted it. ### 3/5 — Good but plenty of bugs to fix *2024-02-10, version 3.35.2* This is a good app and in theory a helpful aide to one’s walk. In practice though it was such a faff. Riddled with bugs, it would amongst other things open screens then you couldn’t get back to the directions without restarting. The next direction would sometimes come up far too soon and other annoyances. I tried to use the contact form in the app to report issues and even that just crashes with a black screen! I’m using IOS iOS 16.7.4. Get the bugs fixed and could be great. Would like to see photo images as visual references to some of the route descriptions as wasn’t too sure at times where meant to be going. ### 4/5 — Pelynt to West Looe circular *2026-07-30, version 3.36.24* Points 1-3 overgrown so take walking poles. The river & streams were very low so we managed to complete the whole walk. At point 19, don’t take the left but keep going straight on as that was incorrect. At point 20 it states a gentle walk uphill. It was actually a strenuous walk with uneven path and could be very slippery in wet weather. As returning holiday-makers to this beloved county, the app has enabled us to unlock undiscovered, beautiful adventures. As a family of four ranging from 9-78 years of age, all of us have adored trekking the comprehensive yet highly original routes. It is clear that qualities of dedication, knowledge and passion have been the driving force behind the creation of this detailed, thorough app. Particular aspects I have appreciated are the dual option of a visual route-tracker and written instructions, the intuitive movement from one instruction to the next and warnings when you are off course, indications of ETA and distance remaining, and storage of previous walks and data. Furthermore, the historical details behind every part of the walk are staggeringly well researched. Wherever I am in the County, I can find some really interesting walks. The direction prompts mean We have never got lost! The app lets you know if you’re veering off the route. There’s also lots of interesting nuggets of information at each point which we found made the walk more fun. Make sure your phone is charged and location is set to always. There is an option to download to your phone just in case but that won’t give you the direction prompts. My son asked me why I needed to pay for each walk when I “could probably work them out for free”. My response - the walks are often more adventurous than anything I would feel comfortable coming up with myself, they have heaps of interesting detail about where you are, and - most importantly - the keep you on track in a very simple and uncumbersome way. All for £3.49 a time.
